The sound of chewing makes me angry!!

Not really AIBU topic but I have to bring this up as I'm sure I'm not the only one!!
Is there anyone else who cannot STAND the sound of other people chewing???

Yes. It's wet noises that get me. I think it's Misanphonia isn't it?

Some people are incredibly noises eaters though.

I don't mind so much if I'm eating too, but if I'm not I can't bear it. Or the sound of cutlery hitting teeth

@HarrietKettleWasHere I know there isn't a name for it but couldn't think of what it was called.
Some people are worse than others yes. I get annoyed with my poor mum when she's just happily eating minding her business lol

I actually have to leave the room or I start shaking. My family think I'm overreacting but I honestly cannot stand it!

I can manage if I don't sit close to Dd or Dh (I usually eat in another room)
But I could happily stab to death in a blind rage anyone trying to get a biscuit out of a packet making that fucking annoying crinkling noise or crisp bags being crinkled.

Yes I have it too. I really wish I didn't, it makes me so unreasonable. I have to leave the room if someone is eating crackers because I want to punch them in the face. Don't even get me started on the sound of the dog grooming himself

@ThymeLord 😂 the dog thing literally made me laugh out loud. I'm constantly snapping at my dog to stop when he does that!! I don't know what one is worse, think it's any mouthy/wet noises lol

YANBU. Although it doesn't make me angry, it just grates on me a bit.

It's another occasion when I have to leave the room because the wet smacking noise makes me want to shout at him, and he doesn't deserve it just because i'm a fruit loop!

Even people simply sucking on a sweet! I just wanna shout to just crunch the damn thing already!!

Chewing, sniffing and knives hitting a glass chopping board. Also metal spoons scraping on a metal pan. Some sounds hurt my ears. Repetitive sounds really annoy me.

Have you ever had to sit next to someone on a Ryanair flight eating an apple then a mango and then pineapple chunks and then suck the juice from the fingers?

Someone suggested CBT to deal with it but it's everyone else with the bad manners that's the problem. If everyone ate properly (quietly) and didn't make vulgar noises like snorting then there wouldn't be a problem.

I also hate when people snorts phlegm when they're standing right next to you

It makes me feel sick and irrationally angry. I hate the sound when people open their mouths just before they put the food in and then the chewing noises are the cherry on top I often eat on my own because I struggle not to get cross. It's always aggravated me. Also when peoole wipe their finger around the plate for the leftover gravy or yogurt or whatever. Disgusting!

I could deal with the eating of apples, but not the sucking juice off fingers 😶

When I hear people biting their nails or skin around the nails and their lips kind of make that smacking sound.. My god I want to punch someone in the head just thinking about it!!

The sound of nails being clipped is another one. I can deal with it in a salon, but not anywhere else...

It's nearly time for Noisy Eater to start his lunch in my office. I dread 2pm every day. Open gob, poke tongue out, lick crisp all over, make smacking noises and say MMM 2/3 times, put crisp in mouth, SUCK IT, then chew it when it's soggy and makes gloopy wet noises. It's only because we are actually very good friends that I haven't ended him already

Also have a friend who has a click jaw and makes a kind of clonking sound when they chew and it drives me mad 😡

It makes me incandescent. I know it's irrational but I can't bear it.
I had a desk neighbour at work who would bring in one of those massive circular "sharing plates" divided like a wagon wheel full of crudités when she was doing Slimming World. Another colleague and I would be in bits as she grazed all day.
Hockling phlegm is too horrible for words.
