The sound of chewing makes me angry!!

Not really AIBU topic but I have to bring this up as I'm sure I'm not the only one!!
Is there anyone else who cannot STAND the sound of other people chewing???

Welcome to the Misophonia club! Its splashing water, jingling keys/change, clicking pens and crunching crisps for me, my office is torture at lunchtime!

Funny though the only people I can tolerate it is my DC. No one else

YES YES YES! Also noisy breathing, seriously, who actually needs to make a noise when they breathe?!!!

Misophonia. They have found changes in the connections in the brain (between hemispheres? ) in people with misophonia. was on the today programme.

People that sniff constantly instead of getting a tissue. The rage.

Not a sound but food related - when people post pictures on social media of their plate after they've finished eating (usually at restaurants etc). Boak.

I had to move seats on the train the other day because of someone's particularly vile sniffing. It was making my stomach churn. I also hate the sound of metal knives and forks on a metal draining board (DH thinks I favoured granite just for the look )

I don't mind noisy eaters as long as they SHUT THEIR FUCKING MOUTHS when they're eating

I really like 'white noise' like the rain or a hairdryer or a washing machine or the sound of a train...I find them calming. unpredictable random noises and pings and sounds at a certain pitch make me crazy

I really like the sound of people eating am I a weirdo ? But I hate the noise of toast being buttered or tinfoil being crinkled and wooden spoons make me feel

Noisy eater went out for lunch

My dh is trying to be healthy so has swapped his evening snacking to apples. The sound of slobbering munching and crunching of apples at 10pm while I'm trying to watch a film makes me enraged.

@LiveLifeWithPassion it does feel worse when your trying to enjoy a program and there really loud chewing/sucking/tutting/slobbering in the background

Ugh apples are the worst. Particularly if you are treated to a dry lip scraping over the skin of said apple. Oh my christ I genuinely shivered typing that!

It's misanphonia. And its totally your problem, please don't make it other people's.

DH hates the sounds of wooden spoons too, but I find it quite soothing. Funny how different sounds affect us in different ways.

Oh and the recent one with the hot weather? A rotating fan that hits against the stand in the middle of its arc.

@HarrietKettleWasHere me too. Also love the sound of people whispering or talking very quietly. There's a name for it, can't think what it's called. There are YouTube videos of people whispering

I sometimeslisten to the asmr videos of sounds of people eating on YouTube to chill out it's weirdly relaxing for me! But on board with the long plate scrap noise being horrible!

I've had it for as long as I can remember.
2 of my dc have it too.
The magnum adverts make me want to put my foot through the tv.

I find it strange that you like the sound but then I could love the sound of something you hate. Funny how everyone is different like that 😊

MineNeverYours I survived an entire journey on a very noisy and crowded megabus recently with a seven-hour YouTube recording of rain...it was great!

It's ASMR (Autonomous sensory meridian response). I have that too
