Dog owner putting poo bags in my wheelie bin

ParanoidBeryl · 11/07/2017 00:46

Our council has a system of 3 wheelie bins, each get collected fortnightly. Black bin for landfill, blue for recycling, and brown for garden and food compost.

For the last three or four of times I have put out my brown bin, after it has been emptied, but before I have had a chance to bring it back in, some dog owner has put a black bag of dog shit into my brown bin.

AIBU to think this is gross? Not only does it mean it would fester for a fortnight in my bin, but the brown bins don't accept plastic, so there is every likelihood that the council wouldn't lift it if they noticed it, and it means plastic bags of dog shit are going for composting.

I assume it is the same dog owner each time, as it is the same type & colour of bag each time.

If you are a dog owner would you think this is ok?

Someone does this to me. I fucking hate them. Their dog's faeces stink beyond belief. Every time, I have to go in my wheelie bin, remove the bag, put it into another Ziploc bag, then wait a week to put it in my black bag. It makes me so angry. Inconsiderate, lazy fuckers!
Dog owners- take your dog's poo to your own home.

dotdotdotmustdash · 11/07/2017 00:49

Many dog poo bags are made of a plastic which breaks down over time and can be put into brown bins. I would have no problem with adding mine to a nearby bin and would have no problem with anyone else who did the same to mine. Do people really get territorial over bins? Surely we all want waste to be put into appropriate places and a bin on a pavement is definitely appropriate.

UrsulaPandress · 11/07/2017 00:50

Beyond rude. And lazy. And cheeky.

UrsulaPandress · 11/07/2017 00:51

People have been fined for putting envelopes in bins at bus stops!

Take your shit home.

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 11/07/2017 00:51

Stick a sign on your bin 'household waste only, no dog shit!'

Patriciathestripper1 · 11/07/2017 00:51

Get a bin lock and yes it is lazy and disgusting.

celeryeater · 11/07/2017 00:56

I am a dog owner and I would never do this. I always carry mine to the next bin. Once I was picking up the poo outside someone's house and the lady was in her car and said this is my house, thanks for picking it up, you can put it in my bin if you like. That's the only time though.

Ginkypig · 11/07/2017 00:59

I don't have a dog because I don't want to deal with their shit or the smell of their shit so I'd be really pissed off if somone put it in my bin.

Dot whilst a agree that we all want waste disposed of properly someone else's bin that is only there because it is awaiting emptying or to be put back after is not a bin on a pavement, it is not for the public to use,

either put it in a public bin or take it home and put it in your own bin.

ParanoidBeryl · 11/07/2017 01:06

Dot it's not a matter of being territorial over bins. If someone, for example, but an empty coke can or bottle in my blue bin after emptying, I wouldn't care. It is the fact that for the next fortnight, every time I open my brown bin, I am faced with the smell of their dog's shit wafting at me. It is beyond gross.

This week I had had enough, and emptied the bin upside down, and there is now a bag of dog shit lying beside where the bin was. I suspect the dog owner passes this route every day, and fully expect them to recognise and reclaim their bag. Angry

My gran always taught us to put rubbish in the nearest bin - especially when they used to be outside - sent us in a gate a few times aswell - maybe they have the same thoughts?

Most poo bags are biodegradable- i don't see the problem

PhilODox · 11/07/2017 01:08

Dotdotdot- they out it into my empty bin, after the refuse lorry has been. So, if I don't remove the dog poo, 1) the next week DH pits the black bag into the wheelie bin, and the poo gets splattered all over the inside of the bin, 2) my wheelie bin sits outaide the sitting room window all week, reeking to high heaven.
Are you really ok with people doing that to you?

BlueKarou · 11/07/2017 01:11

How much the do you really spend inhaling get the scent of your recycling? That brown bin will have fermenting food waste in there and will hardly smell pleasant. A sealed bag of dog waste is hardly going to add to the odour.

As long as it wasn't too full to close I wouldn't have any problem with people doing this assuming that the bag was biodegradable. Otherwise there's the black bin.

PhilODox · 11/07/2017 01:13

It isn't a recycling bin, it's my normal bin, it's empty, and doesn't smell normally, only when some twat pita their dog poo in it.
In this weather, my window is open daily, and the bins are next to it- nowhere else for them to go, all the houses store them at the front here.

provider5sectorzz9 · 11/07/2017 01:18

loathsome and despicable
Everywhere I go I see dog walkers merrily swinging the bags of shit, picking up and carrying this gift seems to have engendered a new and disturbing level of intimacy between the fur baby and the owners.

I wish we could have dog free towns so I didnt have to see this revolting performance over and over again, the fur babies mummy and daddy worship the creature so much that they covet it's very shit

bleeuuugghh

CommanderShephard · 11/07/2017 01:26

I wish we could have twat free towns.

avamiah · 11/07/2017 01:26

PhilODox,
YANBU,
This is outrageous,it's your bin not a public bin.
I've never heard anything like this before if I'm being honest and it's totally unacceptable. In my opinion I would say it's somebody local to you who keeps doing this, maybe somebody you know?

Stressedout10 · 11/07/2017 01:27

Must admit am guilty of occasionally putting a bag of poop in a sented bag into someone else's blue bin (4 bin system round here blue for general waste ) but only if it hasn't been emptied yet and only if there isn't a public bin near 😳

ParanoidBeryl · 11/07/2017 01:29

So do you think a label on the bin with 'No dog poo please!' is likely to be effective, or just encourage people to do it more?

OP posts:
PyongyangKipperbang · 11/07/2017 01:36

The sort of person who will do this will simply ignore the sign as things like that clearly dont apply to them.

A bin lock is your best bet. Perhaps with a sign on it saying "I have put a lock on thise because of YOU putting your dog shit in it. Take it home you lazy sod" which they will see when they pull the bin over their own foot trying to open it!

provider5sectorzz9 · 11/07/2017 01:36

I think that dog owners tend to be so in love with the creatures that they believe its shit smells of roses and the rest of us should be grateful to have it dumped in their bin

BewareTheUndertoad · 11/07/2017 01:39

Someone did that with my black bin after it had been emptied. I didn't realise as the poo bag was black, until we dumped the rubbish on top and it landed on the poo bag. I try to get the bins in quickly after they are emptied now.

Can't win though because someone regularly walks their dog along our road, picks up the poo in a little black bag and leaves it on the pavement or at the side of the road. I have been taking the odd walk with a can of chalk spray to highlight it because people don't notice and will walk on the bags which defeats the point of picking it up in the first place. I am looking forward to getting my security camera with a good wide angle lens.

avamiah · 11/07/2017 01:57

I would buy a little camera, they are not very expensive and you would find out who is responsible.Or maybe just put up a poster saying No Dog Poo.

avamiah · 11/07/2017 01:58

I have never seen a bin lock before?haha
But it sounds a good idea.
Why not.

GreenTulips · 11/07/2017 02:03

Gosh! Cameras? Locks? Are we all turning into MI5? It's a bag of poo - in a bin! Would you rather it was left in the steet?

BewareTheUndertoad · 11/07/2017 02:09

If you read my post, GreenTulips you will see that is the reason I am looking forward to getting a camera. However it is not the sole reason I am getting one, but I really want to know who the filthy bastard is that leaves their bags of shit on the pavement for people to innocently tread in.

I have also been tempted to get a bin lock to stop people using my bin because it is me that has to clean it out.
