AIBU to want all my money back?

My son wanted a green hoodie so I went on amazon and ordered him one. This is for the school disco and it is important that it is neon green.

Received the "neon green" hoodie today and it is actually yellow so I contacted them to say I received the wrong item.

They're telling me the yellow one I have received is green and that if I want to return it I'll have to pay the return postage myself and they'll refund my money once they've received it back.

It was only £7.99 so I probably won't bother, especially as the return postage will cost a fair chunk of that. But AIBU to think it is incredibly cheeky to send me the wrong item, try to convince me I'm colour blind and have actually received the correct item, and then try and make me pay for return postage???

Sorry I'd have said it was a kind of tennis ball green. But then people are always arguing with me over the colour of tennis balls. They think they're yellow when they're clearly green. What is wrong with people huh?Wink I think you'd be way too pernickety to return it.

masterchef98 · 01/07/2017 23:41

I had similar with Amazon with a tshirt I bought for a birthday present that the seller insisted was retro style, but it wasn't it was terribly printed, didn't get anywhere much with it, think I sent it back out of principle and got a tiny refund.

allthingslipsticks · 01/07/2017 23:56

It's yellow, lol.

Sprinklestar · 02/07/2017 00:08

Looks yellow to me. Nothing like the green in the pic.

Marymoosmum14 · 02/07/2017 00:16

Looks lime green to me.

myusernameisnotmyusername · 02/07/2017 00:31

That looks like fluorescent yellow to me!

MidniteScribbler · 02/07/2017 01:41

I think it's more yellow than green, and doesn't even look like the same one in the picture. I would expect the one you got to be sold as 'hi-visibility' type item, not a kids hoodie.

Nowwhatsthis · 02/07/2017 06:49

We ordered this exact same hoody!!

What colour did you receive?

I think it looks yellow

jennielou75 · 02/07/2017 07:01

If you return to an amazon locker it is free so might be worth checking if there is one near you.

LionsOnTour · 02/07/2017 07:09

It's yellow although with a teeny tiny hint of green.

I don't think you should pay the return postage. Live chat plus photos is the way to go.

You photo with the highlighter pens is excellent! No one can argue with that.

Ethylred · 02/07/2017 08:17

If I were the Amazon person you were having an argument with over this then I would be showing all my coworkers the correspondence and pissing myself with laughter.

Sorry if this is not what you wanted OP but your utterly hideous greeny/limey/yellowy cagoule thing has brightened up my day.

clarabellb · 02/07/2017 09:41

It's yellow!

Janeinthemiddle · 02/07/2017 09:45

YABU if it's already stated on the listing that buyer is to pay for return postage.

pollymere · 02/07/2017 10:34

If you paid by credit card or PayPal get them involved if needs be. The item is not as described by the picture. It looks significantly different. Amazon also do these...they quote "Your Legal Warranty
If a product you’ve purchased on Amazon Marketplace turns out to be faulty after delivery or not as advertised (i.e., non-conformant), the Seller has to give you a free of charge (including return costs) repair, replacement or refund for a “reasonable time” following the sale." Start the returns process through Amazon for an item not as described/different from picture. It looks lower quality too. They have to offer a refund and pay the return delivery costs. It's similar for an Amazon purchase too. They don't tell you because it leaves them out of pocket. You don't need their agreement to send it back either!

crazykitten20 · 02/07/2017 10:39

Green

lionsleepstonight · 02/07/2017 10:42

I'd contact amazon, its not the colour on the website. You would be able to return for free on principle.

MiniMum97 · 02/07/2017 10:53

Call amazon direct and complain. They don't make it easy to find on their website but they are very helpful when you speak to them. They do a call back service so you don't even have to wait in.a queue. The item is not as described so you should be able to rtn it.

MyNewBearTotoro · 02/07/2017 10:57

It's yellow-green, or greedy-yellow, one of those shades in the middle of the two colours so different people will see it differently.

BUT either way even if it is a shade of green it is definitely not the colour green shown in the photo, not even close enough to argue that it came out differently in the photo.

I would open up a dispute through eBay/ PayPal - include the highlighter photo as evidence - and try to get your money back.

VerbenaGirl · 02/07/2017 11:13

I would try to raise a case with Amazon for 'item not as described', and they may be able to get you free return postage. I agree as to yellowness, but have come across this before when looking for neon shades (both ways, as wanted yellow and got green) - it's obviously a common area for confusion!!

dottybooboo22 · 02/07/2017 12:58

if you paid through paypal enter a dispute with them. they helped me get my money back for a few items in the past. i found them really helpful.

looks yellow to me! Smile

Nowwhatsthis · 02/07/2017 13:14

YABU if it's already stated on the listing that buyer is to pay for return postage.

If you bought a chair off amazon but received a bike, would you be happy to pay for the return postage just because it was stated you'd have to?

Sure if you open a resolution with ebay and state that the item is not as described (i.e. it's the wrong colour) that you should get all your money back. Give it a go!

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 02/07/2017 13:35

It's clearly yellow. As are standard tennis balls. I almost can't believe this is a debate...

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 02/07/2017 13:36

Neon yellow!
