Might get crucified for this but....

She won.

She's had a lot to manage a response and a
Plan to deal with since she became PM.

I didn't vote for her. My partner did.

I feel a bit sorry for her.

Anyone else?

Yes you are going to get crucified OP - slagging off the Tories and making personal character assassinations of the relevant leader of the time is a favourite past time on here. You could put Mother Teresa or the Pope in charge and they would get a slagging off.

UrsulaPandress · 16/06/2017 23:23

She has totally failed to step up to the plate. Her interview with Emily Maitliss on Newsnight was excruciating. I waiver between feeling desperately sorry for her and thinking Just go woman.

Artofnoise1 · 16/06/2017 23:24

She' s fucked. The only reason she' s still in number 10 is because the tories are terrified of another election.
As one Tory said yesterday, she' s the least worst option.

shinyredbus · 16/06/2017 23:24

OP - you're brave coming on here asking a mainly left-wing crowd to feel sorry for May!

FWIW - i am a conservative voter, but i do feel that May could try and be a little warmer to people - however i feel she knows the public doesn't like her and so she's trying to minimize damage somehow, she is dammed if she does, dammed if she doesn't - she can't win either way really.

notknownatthisaddress · 16/06/2017 23:25

Just found the video/song on youtube. It's bleedin' awful!!!!!!!

It's Trisha Paytas.

Look it up PMSL! Grin

If I was Leo and I saw it, I'd get a restraining order.

The lyrics are a bit racist.

LuchiMangsho · 16/06/2017 23:25

No one asked her to be PM. She needs to be a leader. Of people. That involves
A) having the balls to publicly debate your policies and take questions from the press. Jon Snow had to resort to social media to get her to appear on his show. First PM who refused in 20 years.
B) Having the balls to appear in front of distressed citizens and listen. Just listen. Don't have to emote. Or hug. Just listen.

Basics of leadership. She has failed.

However is she evil incarnate? Of course not. She is a bureaucrat who has just realised that running a country and being a leader is a little different from running the Home Office.

Sabistick · 16/06/2017 23:25

I do feel sorry for Theresa May, she inherited brexit but didnt want it, conservative policies gave come crashing down on her watch, and she has been cruxified over a run of horrendous national tragedies that could of happened at any time.

I didnt vote tory, or brexit and the donald trump visit was embarrassing but , i really feel for her.

I saw the steve bell cartoon in the guardian (ok political cartoonist so paid to be harsh) and i thought it was unreasonably cruel.

Artofnoise1 · 16/06/2017 23:26

Jesus Christ, .Newsnight. Emily Matliss, usually very cool and professional couldn't hide her disdain for May.

Killdora · 16/06/2017 23:26

Why is it that there are always a few posters who pop on to spew hyperbole about any one criticising May?

'Oh you don't like her personality or politics? Well you must think she's a baby kicking, unicorn murdering nazi then. Scoff scoff scoff.'

Is that the only argument against the loony left these days? Maybe try defending her in her policies or actions instead?

Oh...wait...

Highalert · 16/06/2017 23:26

She should shit or get off the pot.

notknownatthisaddress · 16/06/2017 23:26

Shit wrong thread, ignore my post ^

threesocksmorgan · 16/06/2017 23:27

im confused
was she made to be PM against her will? was she forced?
or did she choose it?

thegoodnameshadgone · 16/06/2017 23:28

I don't know. We don't know what she's doing in the background to make things better. (I would say that about whoever was PM).

OP posts:
LuchiMangsho · 16/06/2017 23:29

Basically she's hopelessly out of depth. Not a fan of Sadiq Khan. But he had the decency to face a baying crowd.
These people KNOW the final death toll won't be known for weeks. They KNOW that. They just want to shout and scream at someone. A good leader puts herself forward and says, ok I know you are angry, vent away and then when you have, I will do what I can.

I disliked him intensely but I suspect Cameron would have been fine at this. He has had public schoolboy thing of being at ease and knowing the right thing to say (even if insincere). She just looks like a deer in headlights.

scaryteacher · 16/06/2017 23:29

you can't be a leader in the 21st century and not emote Why not? I don't want to see them emoting - I want them to get on with the job in hand. You don't see Merkel emoting or Rutte or Michel. Actions speak louder than words, and practical assistance in terms of money, rehousing people and ensuring similar tower blocks are safe is of more use than the PM going to see already traumatised families. That is what the Queen does so well.

Furthermore, London has a Labour Mayor; perhaps there would have been a feeling that his toes were being stepped on if she had gone yesterday, and I did read that she didn't want to intrude on the grief of the victims, which is understandable as well.

LuchiMangsho · 16/06/2017 23:30

If she was a civil servant beavering away in the background, great. You CHOSE to be PM. That's a role of public leadership. Now own it.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/06/2017 23:30

Oh yes. She's got such a hard life with all her millions. Hasn't she.Hmm

Highalert · 16/06/2017 23:30

She wanted to be PM. She knew what that meant.

So she should step up. She hasn't though has she?

needsahalo · 16/06/2017 23:31

She could be doing loads and loads. What she's not doing is looking these people in the eyes and making the right noises. She's not having the courage to stand up for what she purports to believe in when avoiding debates.

Dawndonnaagain · 16/06/2017 23:31

Which bit of hung parliament are some people not getting. She didn't win. She may have got more seats than any other party, but she didn't get a majority. You need a majority to have won.
Other than that; I don't feel sorry for her.

ShoesHaveSouls · 16/06/2017 23:32

No I don't feel sorry for her.

I hadn't stopped smiling at her hung parliament and loss of majority - until, that is, the results of Tory austerity/lack of regulation/lack of funding to councils/farming out work to contractors came home to roost in the most appalling loss of life this week.

She won't stay in power, she looks broken.

Valentine2 · 16/06/2017 23:33

Time for her to step down now. What a disgrace of a PM.

quencher · 16/06/2017 23:34

I truly believed she was a strong woman regardless of her belief even though I hated her from when she was at the home office. After everything that has happened in the last one month, my views have changed about her and I think it's been embracing to watch. Her misjudgement has been staggering, leaving me baffled.

In regards to the tower black fire, any mp who did not in the past made any effort is responsible. Not just Teresa's may. This includes labour MPs too. Labour are not saviours and we should not look at them in that way. It will only lead to more disappointment. A lot of hope in Jeremy Corbyn which will lead to a lot of disappointment in the future.
We all know politics does not work that way and I feel sorry for all those with high hopes in him.

MaudGonneMad · 16/06/2017 23:35

I'd like to know what the fuck she has been doing about Brexit, given that (a) she said she couldn't possibly debate Corbyn because she was too busy preparing for Brexit and (b) it turns out the UK hasn't submitted ANY position papers to the EU ahead of the talks opening ON MONDAY.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 16/06/2017 23:37

George Osborne was laughing his head off at the failures of Theresa May to form a secure government. Is he laughing now???
