To hate Lily Allen

I can't stand her. Always popping up somewhere that she's not required to put her 2 cents in. It's like her music is so shit and unpopular she's decided to just stick her oar in wherever she can now. I've never disliked anyone this strongly before (that I've never met!)

OP posts:

Speculation helps no-one.

Better tell the right wing gutter press.

BigYellowJumper · 16/06/2017 05:53

ghost doesn't matter who is doing it really, right wing, left wing, Lily Allen, whoever.

ilovesooty · 16/06/2017 06:00

I think Boys has nailed it.

Ceto · 16/06/2017 06:11

What's she ever done to you that you should hate her? And how does it hurt you that she should speak out about this situation? You think her speaking out is useless, but by all accounts the people affected certainly don't - after all, a number of them are speaking out in the same way.

papayasareyum · 16/06/2017 06:20

I'm not a fan of hers, but I do think she raised important points here. The media are playing it down and I wonder why too.

abilockhart · 16/06/2017 06:25

YADBU. Casual hatred is not only unreasonable but is downright nasty.

moreslackthanslick · 16/06/2017 06:30

She's a gobshite OP so I think YANBU.

BigYellowJumper · 16/06/2017 06:31

papayasareyum how are they downplaying it though? I'm not a fan of the media in general, but it's been on BBC news almost 24 hours a day, front page of every paper...I don't see what is being downplayed?

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 16/06/2017 06:34

YABU.

abilockhart · 16/06/2017 06:41

..I don't see what is being downplayed?

It's pretty obvious that they are downplaying the number of casualties.

I've heard many, many people say the same yesterday. It's a question many people are asking. Why is the media downplaying the number of casualties?

bigchris · 16/06/2017 06:42

BBC are now reporting 60 missing Sad

papayasareyum · 16/06/2017 06:43

they're playing it down because every time they talk about the death toll they say it's wrong to speculate, wrong to guess. But they know that over 100 are missing, unaccounted for, including many children. So I'd say that speculation is pretty inevitable.

woman12345 · 16/06/2017 06:44

Compassion to the survivors, and compassion to the victims. Compassion to Lily Allen and all the posters here.

makeourfuture · 16/06/2017 06:44

There's a similar thread running about Owen Jones where he's called a prick, a twat, a penis, a dick and much more.

Progress?

bigchris · 16/06/2017 06:46

Plus the building was still on fire the day after , the fire fighters can't get to the top floors to recover yet Sad they can't tell us what they don't know

BigYellowJumper · 16/06/2017 06:46

Are they downplaying them? Everything I've seen has said '17 and expected to rise'.

If anything, I think some papers are rather trying to dramatise it.

Daily Mail - "But it is feared the death toll could soar into the hundreds"

Guardian - "The death toll from the fire currently stands at 17, and police have said it will rise"

Daily Record - "The official toll rose to 17, amid fears it could top 100."

I dislike the media as much as the next thinking person, but I don't think I've seen any paper that didn't say the figure is going to rise.

MrsPeelyWaly · 16/06/2017 06:47

OP, I cant say that I cant stand her because I really dont know much bout her apart from the fact she seems to be popping up a lot recently when something awful has happened and its all very attention seeking. She's not someone Id be paying any attention to.

pictish · 16/06/2017 06:48

I can't help but feel that if she was a man, no one would blink at her opining. The television, radio, social media are full of opinionated men giving forth about this and that and no one seems to mind. Lily Allen is a woman therefore she must either be learned expert or pipe the fuck down. Her thoughts are otherwise dismissable.
If this was Gary fucking Barlow or whatever other irrelevant tosser you've got a pash on, you'd be applauding him.

MrsPeelyWaly · 16/06/2017 06:49

The media are playing it down and I wonder why too

I can see next to nothing else being reported by the media.

BigYellowJumper · 16/06/2017 06:50

pictish Dunno, I saw people say the same about James Corden after Manchester tbh.

Saw a lot of praise for Adele for showing up though.

Sparklingbrook · 16/06/2017 06:52

Adele can do no wrong for some reason.

DonaldStott · 16/06/2017 06:54

pictish totally agree. If Tom Hardy was on the news saying 'the tenants have told me the death toll is closer to 150 people and I think the government are trying to hide it', there would be swooning all over mn, saying what a fucking hero he is and what a disgrace.

nannybeach · 16/06/2017 06:55

Well I agree with OP, she spouts rubbish like a typical entitled "luvie"

megletthesecond · 16/06/2017 06:55

Yabu.

aquashiv · 16/06/2017 06:56

She said she grew up there on a council estate. So yes she has every right to comment.

Think it's tall poppy syndrome.
