To hate Lily Allen

I can't stand her. Always popping up somewhere that she's not required to put her 2 cents in. It's like her music is so shit and unpopular she's decided to just stick her oar in wherever she can now. I've never disliked anyone this strongly before (that I've never met!)

I sort of agree with OP but I blame the media. C4News interviewed her because she's populist, someone who's a younger known name and was on the ground - and then found it awkward that while she made good points (which others had already made) that the tenants concerns had been ignored and the follow up on the ground was shambolic, she was also claiming the true numbers of the dead were being depressed by the media ?deliberately?

They seem to have chosen her for the wrong reasons. I accept that the natural interviewees - the people on the tenants committee - might either be too traumatised or worse case dead.

Then Newsnight decided to book her but found they finally had access to a Kensington councillor and she implies she was rejected because she was too outspoken when they had a councillor to roast.

My opinion of her and others with big houses in Kensington and Chelsea would go up a thousand fold if we knew she/they were actually sheltering people from Grenfell. Along with the Calais refugees she allegedly said she would host.

But her point about numbers dead remain. In hotels and work places they have check in and outs so they know how many people are in the place including chance visitors. I cannot believe the block managers don't have some idea of the total number of people living in Grenfell give or take visitors. And that by now the medical services and Red Cross haven't been able to give a list of survivors.

I am shocked that's all ! But yeah so fucking what really . Each to their callous own !

I'm sure the numbers have been under reported and that much of what she said will prove in time to be correct. But I don't think she had any right or role in speaking out here, at this stage, however good her intentions are. She inflamed a volatile situation. Better for her to,use her talents or influence to help victims be heard themselves, to,raise money but not stir up an emotional cauldron.

stop: I know what you mean. It's extraordinary to find out how horrible people are. I do wonder if they are this horrible in real life or whether they tone it down a bit. The amount of hatred displayed towards someone just for speaking out.

hack if you'd read even just a few pages of this thread you'd know how tactless and inappropriate some of her remarks were. And from someone who has form for making similarly misguided comments.

She's appears to be very immature for her age and as a mum of 2 but I don't don't hate her as don't know her.

She seems like an annoying teenager from a very posh background and spoilt who has gained fame with minimal talent or brains and tries to pretend she's working class when she clearly isn't.

She represents herself and her career anf has a somewhat overinflated idea of her intellectual ability and musical talent.

However a privileged background and a private education does that for people.

I have no objection to her having any view on anything but poor she was not.
