To ask if you voted Tory, would you now change your mind?

Hey.

I don't want to start a debate but I am quite worried about DUP being in the position that they are now. I am totally relying on the information from the media with regards to their views etc, but I'm worried about what this holds for us.

I wondered for anyone that voted Tory, now they have a coalition with DUP, would you change your vote?

I'd love to hear everyone's views. I am not politically minded and as I said, a lot of what I read and understand is unfortunately from the media. With 2 little ones, reading the paper online is about as much as I can do!

Please do not come down on me if this is a silly post, I am genuinely interested xx

LEM

The UDA are linked to the DUP. They endorsed them in this election and the DUP made no attempt to distance themselves from the endorsement.

If you don't know who the UDA is I suggest you Google them, they shot a man in front of his 3 year old son a few weeks ago. Arlene Foster, leader of the DUP met with them afterwards.

nannybeach · 10/06/2017 20:27

yes would still have voted tory. Plenty of pics of JC cosying up to IRA and various terorr organisations.

muckypup73 · 10/06/2017 20:31

Rdoo, why did Arelene Foster meet up with them?

muckypup73 · 10/06/2017 20:32

nannybeach, so you condone the Dup trying to murder school children then? and linked to another terror hroup who shot and killed a father in front of his three year old child?
www.newsroom24.co.uk/2017/05/29/father-brutally-shot-dead-front-young-son-sainsburys-car-park/

A 35 year old father has been killed in front of his young son, in a horrendous and senseless act at a Sainsbury’s car park in Bangor. The dad was shot multiple times and later died in hospital from his wounds.

Police believe Mr James Horner, known as Colin, was targeted as part of the loyalist paramilitary feud involving the UDA in East Antrim. Mr Horner, who had recently moved to Bangor from Carrickfergus, was shot six times in the lower body. Five of those bullet wounds were in his legs and thighs, ans one bullet wound to his groin, which was fatal.

Shoppers at the store claimed there was around six shots fired at about 3 PM and people described chaotic scenes as they were evacuated.

Kathryn Johnston, a nearby resident describes how the man was with his children when he was shot. She said: “Just heard the man who was shot dead at Sainsbury’s Bangor had his kids with him.

“They saw their dad shot five times.”

shinyredbus · 10/06/2017 20:35

No chance. I would never vote labour on principle, plus JC is not a great leader of the party, let alone the country.

BIWI · 10/06/2017 20:35

I'm sorry, but if you have time to post on Mumsnet then you have time to either read a paper or Google for more information.

What did you vote, out of interest - and why?

The potential link up between the Tories and the DUP is totally horrific. The views and principles of the latter are truly abysmal. I fear, though, that rather too many of the Tory party will be in agreement with them, and will be glad that now they can express these views openly.

(And for transparency, I voted Labour)

Antigonads · 10/06/2017 20:39

How about asking if this who voted Labour now regret getting into this mess?

Just a few more seats and TM would have had a working majority but with seriously clipped wings.

I blame the Labour voters.

muckypup73 · 10/06/2017 20:39

Dont worry BIWI, it wont be long before Boris is in charge!!!! and then we are in for it!!!!

muckypup73 · 10/06/2017 20:42

Antigonads, were Labour in power? did Labour call a genral election? did Labour call an election 9 days before Brexit negotations??? Noooo I think not, blame Mrs May for the downfall of the country, never mind, Boris will soon be taking over and then we will all be using crayons and colouring books!

Rdoo · 10/06/2017 20:42

Rdoo, why did Arelene Foster meet up with them?
I've no idea, I wasn't there.

Rdoo · 10/06/2017 20:43

Sorry, pressed send too soon
I understand Foster claimed to be trying to help in the ongoing loyalist feud but who knows.

Rdoo · 10/06/2017 20:47

The woman on the right is the DUP leader.

To ask if you voted Tory, would you now change your mind?
CaptainBrickbeard · 10/06/2017 20:47

That's the second time today I've seen someone attempt to blame Labour voters for this. It's utterly bizarre!

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 10/06/2017 20:47

I blame the Labour voters

Oh goodness Grin

I blame the tories for doing a frankly lackluster campaign and May and her advisors for calling the election

Calyrical · 10/06/2017 20:48

No. It ultimately makes little difference (I live in a Labour stronghold)

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 10/06/2017 20:50

Its weird captain

time4chocolate · 10/06/2017 20:51

rdoo-I saw that photo yesterday and I thought it was proven to be a photoshop job?

Antigonads · 10/06/2017 20:54

But blaming conservative voters is just the same as blaming Labour voters.

You didn't ask about blaming TM or anything else.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/06/2017 20:54

No, I wouldn't have changed my choice - I've voted Labour before now, but with Corbyn in charge it would have been unthinkable

I believe May ran a poor campaign (and for too long) and I don't admire the DUP, but even so I prefer what we've got to the horror of Labour's current, neo-communist rabble in power

CaptainBrickbeard · 10/06/2017 20:56

Rufus, well exactly! I've never voted Tory in my life, I disagreed with their entire manifesto and I don't want a hard Brexit. I'm struggling to see why May's hubris and incompetence is in any way my problem to solve...

CaptainBrickbeard · 10/06/2017 20:58

Antigonads, people who voted Tory aren't being blamed; they're being asked if they're happy with the choice May is making to align with the DUP and if they would have voted for that if they'd known it would be the outcome.

norkmonster · 10/06/2017 21:01

It is a photoshopped picture. The original mural is in the Shankhill Road area of Belfast and "celebrates" the 2nd battalion of the UDA. Frankly there's enough to concern people about the DUP without resorting to falsehoods.

Ankleswingers · 10/06/2017 21:01

Corbyn promised the world.

He told people what they wanted to hear.

Of course the students wanted free tuition and no university fees.

It was the trump card for them to get out and vote.

Corbyn was unable to answer, just like Abbott, on the numbers and how these things would be paid for.

Am example is the free childcare for every two year old proposal.

He was asked on a woman's hour interview and couldn't answer as he didn't know.

It was agonisingly embarrassing.

I would be absolutely petrified of a Corbyn led government. Even more so propped up by the SNP.

Whilst TM had a shit campaign, she still has 50 more seats than Labour. She also had 2.5 million more voters than in 2015.

I would vote conservative again. No question.

Antigonads · 10/06/2017 21:02

Sorry. I'm on so many threads. I got confused.

I'm horrified by the DUP.

And by god dsct that they are democratically elected members of the House.

But I don't think it will last.

UrsulaPandress · 10/06/2017 21:04

And by the fact ......
