To think people who would otherwise vote for corbyn may not because of Diane Abbott?

Sorry if there's already a thread about her latest cringeworthy interview but I couldn't find one... here she was on sky new last night, clearly having failed to read the police report she was there to discuss:

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.thesun.co.uk/news/3731086/shadow-home-secretary-diane-abbott-car-crash-interview-sky-police-security-london-bridge-attacks-terror/amp/

I like corbyn and what he stands for, but I can't give him my vote with these buffoons around him!

Yes, i was very much undecided but this interview decided for me.

Only1scoop · 06/06/2017 07:14

Wouldn't vote for them anyway but if I was undecided that hideous interview would have swung it.

Brokenbiscuit · 06/06/2017 07:18

Yanbu. That interview yesterday made me cringe - it was just awful. I know that

I will probably still vote Labour anyway, but that interview

Saucery · 06/06/2017 07:18

She's a liability. Totally clueless and incompetent.

AvoidingCallenetics · 06/06/2017 07:21

Can you imagine her as Home Sec?
It reflects badly on JC that she is still there. How often does a person have to demonstrate their total incomptetence before they get sacked?

Livelovebehappy · 06/06/2017 07:21

I watched it and it was toe curling. She is single handedly reducing the Labour party to being unelectable. We need a strong home Secretary now more than we ever did, and even the die hard Labourites on MN must admit the woman is an absolute liabilty. She is so out of her depth and the thought of her being in charge of our security after June 8th is absolutely terrifying. Labour supporters are desperately trying to sell us the story that of course she will be dumped if JC gets in, yet we have no idea if that will happen. It's very doubtful considering he blindly 'stands by her' after every cock up. The Tories must rub their hands with glee whenever she's gets interviewed.

RealFakeDoors · 06/06/2017 07:22

Total liability, but then the Tories have Boris and I think the two cancel each other out in electability terms!

Crumbs1 · 06/06/2017 07:24

I think you are right. She doesn't perform well at all.

Brokenbiscuit · 06/06/2017 07:25

Oops -posted too soon. That interview really made me wobble with regard to voting Labour. I know that she is a very clever woman but as shadow home secretary, there is simply no excuse for such a poor performance. It was disgraceful and I couldn't watch it without cringing.

I will probably vote Labour anyway, as the other alternatives that I would consider (green/libdem) don't stand a chance where we live. However, the fact that he put Diane Abbott in that role does make me question his judgement. Anyone can have an off day, but she has had too many!

GunnyHighway · 06/06/2017 07:27

Boris? Really? I'm watching him right now he can recall facts and figures in order to make a coherent argument. How is that comparable to Abbott who had embarrassed herself in many interviews?

RubyGoat · 06/06/2017 07:27

She may be clever but she's a PR nightmare.

user1471545174 · 06/06/2017 07:28

She isn't a clever woman, though Paul Mason doesn't think anyone should challenge this assumption.

Rinkydinkypink · 06/06/2017 07:30

She's a bit of a car crash at the moment. Hope what ever is up she's gets it sorted. She's clearly not well.

FlyingElbows · 06/06/2017 07:31

There is clearly something very wrong with Diane. Whatever it is is her personal business but the time has clearly come where the decision needs to be made that she should, at the very least, not do interviews until whatever it is is resolved (if possible). It's wrong to speculate about her health but we're two days away from a general election, it's time for someone to say "No Diane, it's time to stop.".

Livelovebehappy · 06/06/2017 07:32

Clever? Seriously? I don't see it.

PedaloBar · 06/06/2017 07:33

I agree that someone needs to put their arm around her and lead her to a quieter life.

surferjet · 06/06/2017 07:34

I'm actually starting to feel sorry for her.
She's clearly out of her depth & very confused at times, the Labour Party are a bit cruel to keep shoving her on live TV/ radio.
Pension the poor woman off.

meditrina · 06/06/2017 07:34

She has been something of an electoral liability.

DrDreReturns · 06/06/2017 07:38

I agree op, she's awful. She should be kept off the media.

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 06/06/2017 07:38

She's relatively old, 63, diehard lobbyists would haver pensioned her off 3 years ago, Its not beyond the realms to assume she might be getting the onset of short term memory loss/dementia.

Corbyn is 68. He says no one should work to that age. Make his dream come true and vote or someone else.

Sunshinegirls · 06/06/2017 07:39

Please don't let her change your vote. She can be fixed/replaced but another 5 years of Tory rule will have disasterous consequences for the vulnerable in our society

She's clearly very nervous and uncomfortable in front of the camera but showmanship isn't really a top requirement for home secretary.

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 07:42

But the Labour Party has nobody else to put up there.

I wanted to like her - a WOC who managed to succeed in the bastion of white middle aged men should be someone to admire. But I can't bear her. She's incompetent, out of her depth, a hypocrite and if a white woman had said, "white women go to the wall for their kids," she'd have been slammed for racism.

Let's face it, if she'd been in a swing seat, even a London one like Hammersmith, she'd have been voted out many elections ago.

londonrach · 06/06/2017 07:43

I wouldnt vote for labour because of both corbain and her.
