Sorry if there's already a thread about her latest cringeworthy interview but I couldn't find one... here she was on sky new last night, clearly having failed to read the police report she was there to discuss:

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.thesun.co.uk/news/3731086/shadow-home-secretary-diane-abbott-car-crash-interview-sky-police-security-london-bridge-attacks-terror/amp/

I like corbyn and what he stands for, but I can't give him my vote with these buffoons around him!

If you start quoting OECD reports Badbunny take a look at the economic forecasts for Britain with further cuts. The criticism of Labour budgets are bizarre. How 'gullible' are we? Ok maybe those that believe the Tories are better at managing the economy without doing the teeniest bit of research.

WalkingOnLeg0 · 07/06/2017 20:36

Why is no deal better than any deal? There's no logic to that assertion. Confused

Unless your willing to walk away 'from a deal' then the seller EU knows they have you over a barrel and can dictate the cost and terms. Being able to walk away will get us the best possible deal because they want one to and dont want us to walk away.

What idiot goes to buy something and the first thing they say is, please sell it to me, I have to buy it no matter the cost, no matter the terms and conditions, I just need to buy it.

Duh! #Negioating4Dummies

cardibach · 07/06/2017 20:38

No deal hurts us more than them. In fact it probably doesn't hurt them at all Duh! #CrapSarcasmForDummies

In case yo doubt that, have a look at this. They could lose all our trade and get over it.

May and the Conservatives are the best people to negotiate a good Brexit or rather the best we can manage - no Brexit is a good Brexit.

I suspect the British people will choose her tomorrow.

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 07/06/2017 20:57

Why? Because they are strong and stable?

WalkingOnLeg0 · 07/06/2017 21:01

So you have presupposed it is a competition in self flagellation! In which case JC wins because he will be on his knees begging for a deal and will accept anything they throw him no matter what. #£100BillionExitBill

I have presupposed it will go as most negotiations have gone in my life. In which neither side wants to hurt themselves and both sides want a deal but in an attempt to get the best deal they can they will push as hard as they can before the other side walks away. Win Win. Lets see who the UK elects tomorrow.

Just in case this hasn't already been posted, please read this, those of you who think ill of Diane Abbott:

cookingonabootstrap.com/2017/06/07/we-need-to-talk-about-diane-abbott-now-explicit-content/

She deserves respect & admiration.

Justanotherlurker · 07/06/2017 21:30

She deserves respect & admiration.

She does, but that doesn't mean she should be absolved of criticism

CrossWordSalad · 07/06/2017 21:46

For me, it is nothing to do with thinking ill of DA. I think she is out of her depth and not competent to be shadow or actual home secretary. Whether that is due to her inherent abilities or illness, I don't know and to be honest, don't particularly think I need to know. The fact that the Labour party let DA carry on as shadow home secretary when it was glaringly obvious that she was not competent for the role reflects very badly on the party and its management and decision making.

To me this is the important issue. I am not, to be honest, particularly interested in DA. We are about to elect the government to run the country through what will probably be (with Brexit and Islamist terrorism and extremism) a fairly turbulent few years and need competent politicians and a competent party to do so.

PumpkinPiloter · 07/06/2017 22:03

Dianne Abbott used to be my local MP I generally liked her and I think she did a good job. I never new she was the first black female mp or that she went to Cambridge in the 70's. Her story is really impressive.

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 07/06/2017 22:04

The years are going to be turbulent because of the Tories and their incompetence

PumpkinPiloter · 07/06/2017 22:06

CrossWordSalad did you read that article linked above?

If not you should. I wonder if it might change your opinion.

I will link it again:

CrossWordSalad · 07/06/2017 22:08

Change my opinion in what way, Pumpkin?

nina2b · 07/06/2017 22:27

Whether she is "ill" or not, the idea of her being Home Secretary in the event of a Labour win is scary. I am amazed that it took so long for her to be given bed rest, frankly.

GrumpyOldBag · 07/06/2017 22:29

PumpkinPiloter I came on here to post that link but you have already done it.

Extraordinary and moving article.

PortiaCastis · 07/06/2017 22:31

Yep tis a good article and I want to bang those abusive twatter posters up

SerfTerf · 07/06/2017 22:32

Thank you for your restraint grumpy Grin I must have seen that link 40+ times in 2 hours.

It does look as though DA should have taken sickness absence sooner, although it's hard to walk away from something that you've fought very hard for for over 30 years, even if only temporarily.

Just thinking through Boris Johnson and Theresa May 'negotiating' Brexit.

One is an absolute loose cannon and the other can't think on her feet.

What could possibly go wrong?

SerfTerf · 08/06/2017 00:00

This is why people do MN spreadsheets isn't it cup? Smile

For some reason repeatedly seeing "bootstrap" where "shoestring" should logically be is particularly bugging me.
