Men in changing rooms

TheWernethWife · 04/06/2017 11:24

Went shopping yesterday, popped into a well known women's shop and there was a man in the changing room. When I asked why he was there the assistant looked at me like I had three heads and said he was probably helping his wife and most people wouldn't be bothered. Well I was bloody bothered.

Well said Basil.

Inertia · 06/06/2017 17:25

Well said Basil.

Couldn't resist posting this: Don't tell me men won't go to extraordinarily bizarre lengths to creep on women Grin

AnyFucker · 06/06/2017 22:12

Holy shit. Literally.

Bambambini · 06/06/2017 22:20

Men never do weird shit to women, you're all so sexist!

Bambambini · 06/06/2017 22:22

Actually there are hortible sites set up full of voyeuristic pics of women in showers, loos, changing rooms etc. Really gross.

AnyFucker · 06/06/2017 22:36

Upskirt pics are a thing, apparently. Even among men who look nothing like sex offenders.

pigsDOfly · 06/06/2017 23:48

Just had to come back on here and commend you on your beautifully cogent post Basil.

I was in at the beginning of this thread but bailed out when it became obvious that quite a number of posters only wanted to post insults, rudeness and aggression and were incapable of reasoned argument. And to be perfectly honest I could no longer be bothered to try to have a sensible discussion with them.

So yes, well said Basil

I find it strange that the assistant monitoring male fitting rooms is almost always female.

metspengler · 07/06/2017 01:22

Bit of a tangent but where have all the single sex showers at swimming gone? Moved to a new area a few years ago and here all the pools have a shared shower area

Bloody hell. No way, absolutely no way!

This isn't common no is it? My local doesn't have this.

Kennethwasmyfriend · 07/06/2017 21:24

Yep, all mixed showers where I am - just at the pool entrance before the (mixed sex) changing rooms.

scottishdiem · 07/06/2017 21:32

I had this growing up some 30 years ago. The changing rooms were all mixed sex cubicles and the showers were at the poolside really (so no shared nudity). There was a couple of closed off, lockable door showers for things like shampooing hair if you wanted to do that. Two pools were like this (Cowdenbeath and Perth) but another (Dunfermline) wasnt - it was separate changing rooms.

KickAssAngel · 08/06/2017 00:04

Harmless Chap - as you can't work it out, shall I remind you that women typically occupy more of the lower paid, service industry, part time jobs than men. So there are often women working in retail. Not strange at all, really.

This is really what you want to bring to the discussion at this point?

Seriously?

I'm so sorry you find it strange. Do you find it distressing, intimidating, traumatising or triggering because of any or all of the terrible experiences you've had with women?

No, you don't.

Gwenhwyfar · 10/06/2017 00:37

"I had this growing up some 30 years ago. The changing rooms were all mixed sex cubicles and the showers were at the poolside really (so no shared nudity). "

Me too. I was fine with it because the cubicles locked rather than having a curtain as in shop changing rooms. The mixed showers are done while wearing a swimming costume of course.

I can't bring myself to go into a mixed sauna though. You shouldn't wear anything in a sauna (except a towel), but mixed ones are obviously with swimming costume. I couldn't be sitting there in a mixed group.

Chrisjparker · 06/12/2018 18:04

You women are crazy

skybluee · 06/12/2018 18:41

i dont wear a bra, so when i try tops on i'm topless inbetween changes, so its very different than what i'd wear on a beach. the curtains often dont close properly, so i turn around, but no, i wouldnt feel comfortable with a guy in there - its meant to be a womens changing area. plus often there are 12, 13, 14 yar old girls etc who may feel really self conscious and they definitely wouldnt be comfortable with guys hanging around - i know i wouldn't have felt comfortable at that age at all. it's why the vast majority of shops have a designated women's and men's changing, and that should be respected, instead of people feeling entitled above others discomfort. i'd like to be able to relax and not to have to even think about this crap.

InsomniacAnonymous · 06/12/2018 19:04

Chrisjparker Why on earth search for and resurrect this zombie thread just to say that?

65Mustang · 02/07/2019 20:02

Well how about women in the mens area helping boys or men? Seems a bit one sided. Any sex can be a perv. Shut your door or curtain and do your thing and leave them to their buisness, alot of unisex fitting rooms anymore. Get with the times.....geez
