For body shaming JC, that is just beyond vile and nasty. Glad it's looking like they will not win.

She is over.

I have noticed TM make snidey personal jibes at PMQ early on.
I'd hoped that sort of sad stuff was left behind with Cameron and Gideon and was very disappointed in her carrying it on.

Having re-watched the clip, it is also about her face after she does the 'doesn't bear thinking about' remark - the 'please like me' expression to the audience.

Doesnt fill me with confidence re the EU negotiations.

JC, when challenged by member of public about his persona/popularity was disarmingly frank, I thought. I dont imagine him weaselling to the crowd a la May

goldaspickledfruit · 31/05/2017 10:11

And this one:

Tories ‘used Facebook dark ads to drown out adverts urging young people to vote

metro.co.uk/2017/05/29/tories-used-facebook-dark-ads-to-drown-out-adverts-urging-young-people-to-vote-6669250/

The 18-24 demographic is the one which will make or break May.

Sky is also running a campaign to monitor personalised tory campaigning, for people to take screen shots of adverts and send them in.

Grin Thatcher's pills, hackmum. Remember her tortured 'everyone needs a Willy' about Willy Whitelaw?

IloveBanff · 31/05/2017 10:14

"I can just imagine the headlines if Jeremy Corbyn had said that about Teresa May!! Screams of sexism I would imagine!"

Precisely, and MN would be in uproar.

goldaspickledfruit · 31/05/2017 10:15

Worth sending screen shots and links of tory ads to Sky and BBC, jupitar.

CardinalSin · 31/05/2017 10:16

As ever, Steve Bell nails it...

noblegiraffe · 31/05/2017 10:21

I follow a few Tory politicians on Twitter and they've mostly been silent or the odd photo of them hugging the elderly. I think there must have been a meeting at Tory HQ on Sunday because at almost the same time they all started retweeting slogans and videos from the Tory account and it's been "Corbyn is shit, Theresa is awesome' since then.

MaybeNextWeek · 31/05/2017 10:26

'Congratulations you managed to drop an IRA reference AND a Hamas reference into a thread about Theresa May and her derogatory remarks, they didn't fit in with the discussion in any way but hey who cares you managed to pop it in there '

Yes fancy that, bringing up his far more worrying dodgy sympathies, when others here are focusing on one ill advised comment from Tm.

We know labour wont get in. I'm just surprised why some intelligent people on mn think Corbyn and Abbot could organise a piss up in a brewery, let alone run the country.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 31/05/2017 10:27

I follow a few Tory politicians on Twitter and they've mostly been silent

The ones follow haven't tbh but they aren't those who just tweeted politics.

I know the likes of Cleverly have been really annoyed by the 'unlock your potential' add however.

M1nesasweetsh3rry · 31/05/2017 10:30

love the Steve Bell CartoonGrin

goldaspickledfruit · 31/05/2017 10:33

Lynton Crosby, May's campaign manager ran successful campaign in Sri Lanka, using strong and stable type mantra. And a questionable and unsuccessful one against Sadiq Khan in London.
Slightly different political set up in Sri Lanka though. Hmm

Looks like she's heading for a weak and wobbly majority, if of course, she gets one at all. Smile

Orlantina · 31/05/2017 10:34

Lynton Crosby - dead cats and dog whistles.

MaybeNextWeek · 31/05/2017 10:36

' He admits attending a wreath-laying ceremony for a Palestinian terrorist; if that's not supporting terrorists, I'm not really sure what is?'

We've established 'if a man said that there'd be uproar'. We know it was silly comment like many others politicians make, likening changing radical beliefs to changing hair do's for example. Now can his supporters on here broaden the discussion a bit and please explain why his airy fairy I just want to talk to the terrorists doesn't seem ridiculously simplistic when we know isis aren't known to be rational and keen on a chat?

BertrandRussell · 31/05/2017 10:36

Anyway, Corbyn will ignore it. Because he doesn't do ad hominems.

BertrandRussell · 31/05/2017 10:38

"why his airy fairy I just want to talk to the terrorists doesn't seem ridiculously simplistic when we know isis aren't known to be rational and keen on a chat?"

You show me where he said that- and I'll happily discuss it.

Not a Corbyn fan my by the way. Just an anti Tory person.

M1nesasweetsh3rry · 31/05/2017 10:43

Does anyone know what the chances are of .May maintaining or reducing her majority ?
I know the conservites are going to win, but it would be sweet if she maintained, or better still reduced her majority.

Today 07:38 user1471545174

It's a figure of speech. Aren't people educated any more?

This ^^

MaybeNextWeek · 31/05/2017 10:52

'You show me where he said that- and I'll happily discuss it'

Here
'Mr Corbyn said he would not go as far as to open “dialogue” with the so-called “Islamic State”, which controls large parts of Iraq and Syria, but that not cutting off contact completely could have advantages'

He does go onto to admit dialogue is the wrong word and says an 'understanding' would be better Confused

If you google it isn't hard to find page after page of his very ill advised comments. TM has slipped up here, for him it is constant though.

DinnerIsServed · 31/05/2017 10:57

It's a figure of speech. Aren't people educated any more?
^^ This. And it was meant as one of those daft jokey comments that everyone is supposed to laugh at, including the person it's about. I don't doubt that JC would have laughed too if he'd been there and it hadn't been election time. He'd have probably made a joke back about her having better legs than him or something. Have we really all lost our sense of humour in favour of being outraged by anything and everything?

goldaspickledfruit · 31/05/2017 10:59

Her timing's been brilliant, giving Labour's focus on NHS lots of coverage. I wonder what the atmosphere is like in CCHQ. The scripted tweets are becoming quite funny.

BertrandRussell · 31/05/2017 10:59

So "keeping back channels open" is the same as "airy fairy I just want to talk".Fair enough. I thought you wanted a grown up discussion.
Do you seriously think that the Foreign Office doesn't have "back channels" open to all sorts of unsavoury people?

MaybeNextWeek · 31/05/2017 11:03

'It's a figure of speech. Aren't people educated any more?'

Exactly .It's almost comical watching the car crash that is Corbyn and Abbott, yet here on mn some people think they're great. We can only hope that it does not represent the majority in real life. Who knows though, we may have a Trump situation and the idiot gets the power.

People are so desperate to find anything TM says offensive. Its all a bit desperate isn't it.

noblegiraffe · 31/05/2017 11:04

Those saying it's a figure of speech clearly haven't watched the weird and creepy video.

Can someone explain why Jeremy would be cold and naked in negotiations and Theresa wouldn't? If the original remark was to do with nuclear deterrent?

goldaspickledfruit · 31/05/2017 11:07

People are so desperate to find anything TM says offensive

She's losing a lot of moderate tory voters.

I am enjoying her campaign now, and really glad Timothy and Hill are at the helm. Hmm
