For body shaming JC, that is just beyond vile and nasty. Glad it's looking like they will not win.

She is over.

"It's almost comical watching the car crash that is Corbyn"

Talk to me about this car crash? One or two examples?

MaybeNextWeek · 31/05/2017 11:11

'Fair enough. I thought you wanted a grown up discussion. '

Charming. I think some posters on here think they are school teachers Grin

MaybeNextWeek · 31/05/2017 11:17

'Talk to me about this car crash? One or two examples'

One example 'there's no seats the railways need to be nationalised' oh but Mr Corbyn here are lots of seats, look we've got them on camera, why are you pretending you had to sit on the floor?

Another example, Abbott and her hair do/radical views changing them is similar apparently.

Both made themselves look very silly. 2 examples, of the very many.

she was paraphrasing a demand made by a former Labour leader - Hugh Gaitskill - to a Labour Party conference when discussing nuclear weapons who did not want to go into a conference without having the option of Britain having such weapons. As usual with TM she did it badly but then rather than being strong and stable she is weak and wobbly. When met with the slightest opposition she does a U turn - weak and wobbly

Giddyaunt18 · 31/05/2017 11:23

nina that has already been addressed. The second part of her comment was not a figure of speech, the snigger and facial expression says it all.

BertrandRussell · 31/05/2017 11:26

"she was paraphrasing a demand made by a former Labour leader - Hugh Gaitskill - to a Labour Party conference when discussing nuclear weapons who did not want to go into a conference without having the option of Britain having such weapons. "
Bevan, actually. And he didn't go on to make a school childish remark about how "ewwww" that would be.

Train seats? I can vaguely remember something. But maybe that could be cancelled out by May going to factories after they've closed for the night? Anything substantial?

hackmum · 31/05/2017 11:30

Goldaspickledfruit: "Remember her tortured 'everyone needs a Willy' about Willy Whitelaw?"

Oh yes! And no-one knew whether it was a deliberate double entendre or whether it was completely innocent.

By the way, a question for those of you who keep saying: "It's a figure of speech. What's wrong with you all?" or variants thereof. It's now been explained several times that although she started off with a perfectly reasonable figure of speech (that was a deliberately referring back to Nye Bevan), she then undermined it by saying "I know that's an image that doesn't bear thinking about."

My question is: have you not read these explanations? Or have you read them and not understood them? If the latter, is there any way we can explain so that you will understand? I like to be helpful.

MaybeNextWeek · 31/05/2017 11:33

'Train seats? I can vaguely remember something. But maybe that could be cancelled out by May going to factories after they've closed for the night? Anything substantial?'

You asked for one or 2 examples of how him and Abbott are ridiculous. I gave them.

'Anything substantial', how about this?. Not sure you are aware or maybe can only 'vaguely remember' so may dismiss this too?

hackmum · 31/05/2017 11:52

MaybeNextWeek: "You asked for one or 2 examples of how him and Abbott are ridiculous. I gave them. "

Actually, she didn't. She asked for an example of (your words) "the car crash that is Corbyn". Nothing about Abbott.

Why would you bother lying when we can all see in black and white what you've written?

Seniorcitizen1 · 31/05/2017 11:53

BertrandRussell - I though it was Bevan but it was said with such conviction yetserday by someone on TV that it was Gaitskill. However just checked www and it was indeed Bevan

MaybeNextWeek · 31/05/2017 11:58

I do apologise hack if you go back to my post of 11.03 I said the 'car crash that is Corbyn and Abbott', I misread and didn't realise the pp just wanted me to refer to half of my post. It isnt 'lying' Confused

BertrandRussell · 31/05/2017 12:20

That's behind a pay wall, but I obviously know what you're talking about.

The problem with things like that is that you will say he laid a wreath on the grave of Atef Bseiso. He says he was laying a wreath for victims of Mossad. How can anyone know which it was? Reason suggests that he would not lay a wreath on the grave of someone who carried out the Munich bombings....

MaybeNextWeek · 31/05/2017 12:24

' she then undermined it by saying "I know that's an image that doesn't bear thinking about."My question is: have you not read these explanations? Or have you read them and not understood them? If the latter, is there any way we can explain so that you will understand? I like to be helpful.'

It was an attempt to be funny.

We are told time and time again on mn that sexist remarks to women are not acceptable but that sexist remarks to men are fine. 'We've been subjected to it! so tough if men get the odd comment' type of opinion.

There was a long thread recently where a poster said calling men sexist names was just as bad as insulting women, However the argument from some mntters was 'aw the poor menz, get over it'. Only on mn to people change their views depending on what their agenda is.

BertrandRussell · 31/05/2017 12:27

It's not the sexist nature of the remark. It's the schoolchildish, unfunny, tastelessness of it coming from the Prime Minuster.

Particularly when Corbyn has never used ad hominems -so it's not as if it's retaliation.

BertrandRussell · 31/05/2017 12:29

Incidentally, I didn't realize that Corbyn and Abbot came as an inseparable pair. I sincerely hope that if Corbyn does win, he dumps asap.

NotYoda · 31/05/2017 12:30

Me too.

BertrandRussell · 31/05/2017 12:38

Well, he's going to do the debate tonight after all.I wonder what May will do.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 31/05/2017 12:39

Well, he's going to do the debate tonight after all.I wonder what May will do.

She won't do it. Cameron never did.

Not sure why Sturgeon isn't going though.

MaybeNextWeek · 31/05/2017 12:59

'Incidentally, I didn't realize that Corbyn and Abbot came as an inseparable pair.'

Well no they don't 'come as an inseparable pair' but as she is shadow home secretary it does, yet again, prove his judgement is very questionable.

nina2b · 31/05/2017 13:03

It was Nye Bevan.

nina2b · 31/05/2017 13:05

Anyhow, how can May make snide remarks about anyone naked. The idea of HER naked is appalling.

BertrandRussell · 31/05/2017 13:05

Well at least she's not the actual Foreign Secretary!

nina2b · 31/05/2017 13:12

This image of the woman is bad enough. Seems to be in the Heath mode, this time:

MaybeNextWeek · 31/05/2017 13:12

'Anyhow, how can May make snide remarks about anyone naked. The idea of HER naked is appalling.'

Well that's not very helpful or pleasant is it?

nina2b · 31/05/2017 13:12

Huh?
