Let's face it, after brexit they were going the way of the dodo.

By throwing themselves into the often politely ignored issues around community integration and extremism I think they will be stealing a big chunk of the Tory vote again.

Especially the removal of passports from anyone leaving the country to fight for ISIS.

If that had been in place earlier then the Manchester murderer wouldn't have been able to enter the country.

Was that the boy with autism/asperegers PeterhouseMS?

PeterhouseMS
You are disgusting and should not be allowed on here.
How dare you be so fucking disablist.

Killdora · 26/05/2017 20:08

Because if you are, as I recall it was a young man with autism and mental health problems.

One of his obsessions became Islam and watching extremist propaganda on the internet.

I would say that is more a sign of the very poor mental health provision currently. (Well aware the torys have a lot to answer for there)

(If you were aware of his situation and you still used those names that is very offensive)

Autism is mentioned in the Independent report linked to. No expanded upon much but it mentioned.

PeppaIsMyHero · 26/05/2017 20:23

Isn't it a basic point of international law that you belong to a state and that state has to let you in? They can't make you stateless, I believe.

And then there's the old 'innocent until proven guilty' clause which I think has been around since Magna Carta and prevents the world turning into some sort of dictatorship where Katie Hopkins gets to imprison people she thinks might be bad.

There's a reason that these laws exist. They are to protect the rights of individuals. If you override these laws, you - yes you - also lose those protections yourself. Who is to say you're not an ISIS sympathiser if someone doesn't like something you're doing?

Damon Smith was convicted of planting a homemade bomb on a London underground train during morning rush hour.

If this bomb full of nails and scrapnel had gone off, it would have killed and maimed.

He was found guilty and sentenced to 15 years.

PeterhouseMS · 27/05/2017 18:41

That should have read 'bomb full of nails and shrapnel'.

Dawndonnaagain · 28/05/2017 16:07

Damon Smith was convicted of planting a homemade bomb on a London underground train during morning rush hour.
I know exactly why he was jailed. You're disgusting because of the names you called him, hence the deletion of your abominably disablist post. Don't try to make this something it isn't. What you called him was outrageous.

user1481825644 · 30/05/2017 16:00

Anyone who carries a bomb onto the tube with the intention blowing innocent people to smithereens is very evil.

Individuals with AS or ASD are not predisposed to violent or criminal behavior. Attributing Damon Smith's very evil deed to Asperger syndrome or ASD is highly offensive and deeply insulting to those with the condition.

Dawndonnaagain · 30/05/2017 16:53

I have Asperger Syndrome. I'm well aware of the blaming policies, I'm also well aware of how it works.
However, that was not what was at question here.

PeterhouseMS · 30/05/2017 17:13

Damon Smith was convicted of planting a homemade bomb on a London underground train during morning rush hour. If this bomb full of shrapnel had gone off, it would have killed and maimed.

Damon Smith was found 'guilty' of the crime by the courts. The verdict did not read 'not guilty by reason of mental disorder or insanity'.

I find the implication that he should be exonerated on the grounds of Asperger's completely wrong.

Dawndonnaagain · 31/05/2017 00:24

I haven't said that though, I have Peterhouse. I said the term you used in your now deleted post was disgusting. You did not refer to his autism, did you.
His autism, his reasons for planting the bomb etc are a separate discussion. You called him a disablist name. You haven't apologised for doing so. And whilst we're on the subject, Asperger syndrome is not a mental disorder.

PeterhouseMS · 31/05/2017 19:23

This weapons-obsessed teenager wanted to cause carnage by planting a homemade bomb on the Jubilee line, a line my daughter takes to work every day. He could have killed and maimed her.

But you object to me calling him a name.

I really don't have words.

Dawndonnaagain · 31/05/2017 20:35

Yes you do. You used them to call him a name and haven't apologised. It was nasty. I get that you're distressed. Do you get that I am, every single time someone calls someone on the spectrum a name in a public place, a name that is nasty and doesn't fit, it affects all of us with the same diagnosis. It has an impact on children in schools, on people at universities. It influences people when they're interviewing for jobs. The wider picture is your prejudices influence others. At no point have I said what he did was acceptable.
At no point have you apologised to those of us who are hurt and distressed by your post. Each time you come back, I will call you out on it. You know the post was unacceptable otherwise it would still be standing.

Moderators, please leave the above post.

Removing it gives the impression I said something far more heinous.

It is utterly ridiculous that the post is removed.

What complete and utter tosh.

ExplodedCloud · 01/06/2017 00:09

Why is it OK to call a person with ASC a 'loony'? That's not good is it?

ExplodedCloud · 01/06/2017 00:40

Loony. That's the word you used.
The verdict did not read 'not guilty by reason of mental disorder or insanity'. which is exactly why 'loony' is offensive. He isn't mentally ill. He has autism. They are different.

PeterhouseMS · 01/06/2017 00:58

I used the word 'loon'.

Definition from the Oxford English dictionary:

loon
NOUN

informal
A silly or foolish person.
‘if only she weren't such a lovesick loon’
More example sentencesSynonyms
Origin
Late 19th century: from loon (referring to the bird's actions when escaping from danger)

I'm definitely voting UKIP as are a lot of people I know

thinkiamgoingcrazy · 01/06/2017 06:31

UKIP are utter crap but I hope they split the Tory vote.

Guitargirl · 01/06/2017 06:38

Let's hope that there are enough delusional racists in the country to split the Tory vote beyond their ability to achieve a majority.
