found our this evening that my partner has been watching mother and son porn - he says it has been going on for a few months. If makes me feel physically sick. a part of me feels that it's just fantasy and that it doesn't mean anything but another part of me just wants him to just leave . I'm disgusted that he could even watch it . I'm so upset /sick but it sure if I'm over reacting and that it was just porn .

I suggest those of you offended with your OH watching porn have other issues i.e. with insecurity

Not at all - I think the sex industry is by and large unethical, often illegal and exploitative. It's extremely to tell the true age of the women (and men, but to a lesser degree) involved and it's downright impossible to know if they have been trafficked, are on drugs or under duress of some sort. Doesn't do it for me, thanks.

^ this.

I think the sex industry is by and large unethical, often illegal and exploitative

That's a rather sweeping statement and I would like to see facts and figures to back that up.

Don't forget that women have a choice to perform in porn. I'm not saying that it isn't possible for there to be exploitation in porn, but don't believe every woman in every film is being exploited.

SuperintendentChalmers · 25/05/2017 19:18

Sorry, the top sentence should have been in bold in my last post.

BorisTrumpsHair · 25/05/2017 19:32

Yeah sure it's ethical. Keep telling yourself that Super.

Whiskwarrior · 25/05/2017 19:33

Do your own research.

There's plenty of ex porn actors/actresses out there talking about how they were treated.

Even one person not giving consent is enough to put me off.

But don't let ethics get in the way of your need for a wank, eh?

SuperintendentChalmers · 25/05/2017 19:36

I didn't make a claim that the whole industry was ethical, I said that many women choose to participate in porn. This is a valid counter argument.

Whiskwarrior · 25/05/2017 19:44

Right. And what about the ones that don't?

Or are you willing to let those slide because you want an orgasm?

SuperintendentChalmers · 25/05/2017 21:48

Your argument is like saying you won't buy a handbag because counterfeits exist.

There are sites which are considered reputable.

You don't agree with it, so don't participate. I agree with it, so I will, and I'll participate as responsibly as is within my control.

Dumbo412 · 25/05/2017 21:59

Fucking hell. He would be gone and not seeing our children unsupervised if I were you, the fact he watches this kind of stuff would be a big red flag to me that he doesn't have any understanding or respect for the boundaries that should be there between family members.

Whiskwarrior · 25/05/2017 22:00

Your argment is saying 'I want a wank so screw the potential human suffering I could be contributing to'.

Not even remotely comparable to fake handbags.

Funnyfarmer · 25/05/2017 22:32

Ok let's stop wearing clothes because they're made unethicaly. Not all but but it's hard to tell the ones that arn't so we should all boycott them. Coffee, tea , diamonds,
In fact even a lot on nmw workers in this country are treated pretty badly. So let's stop eating out, using supermarkets or online delivery service.
Why can't people understand that some women actually choose these types of careers
Both dp and i enjoy watching porn. Sometimes together or sometimes on our own. There's nothing wrong with our relationship and definitely nothing wrong with our parenting.
I really think if you have issues around porn it should be something that's discussed pretty early on in an relationship. I would never just assume that it's a no go area with a partner unless they specifically said so

AssassinatedBeauty · 25/05/2017 22:43

Of course people understand that some women choose to make porn. You don't seem to understand that it's the ones that are not exercising a free choice that are the issue. But who cares about that eh? It's just the same as someone working for nmw, totally comparable.

M0stlyBowlingHedgehog · 25/05/2017 22:44

False analogy. I have to wear clothes otherwise I'd freeze to death in winter/get sun burned in summer/ get arrested all year round. With this in mind, I do the best I can to buy clothes from sources which are likely to have been ethically produced. In contrast, I have a good enough imagination to be perfectly capable of wanking without watching something that might in fact be filmed footage of someone being sexually assaulted. I don't have to watch porn in order to have a wank. I choose not to take that risk.

SuperintendentChalmers · 26/05/2017 06:03

Funnyfarmer - spot on.

There's unethical behaviour in a massive range of industries. The tone on here is a bit extreme, next you'll be telling me I'll have hair growing on my palms and god's killing kittens up there.

StillHungryy · 26/05/2017 06:40

Ok for a comparison unfortunately some women ( not in porn but going for a night out etc) are raped, but that doesn't stop women as a whole having actual sex on ethical grounds ( and not saying it should).

SmileEachDay · 27/05/2017 15:41

Super the issue is you can't tell the exploited from the non exploited.

This link is a starting point:

SmileEachDay · 27/05/2017 15:44

Still you do realise that your post is ridiculous, don't you?
