I know she feeds off publicity and the best thing really would be to ignore her until she shrivels and dies of fame starvation so I apologise for the thread but this is really too much now isn't it?

What is a "Katy Hopkins problem"? Sounds just as sinister as some of the things she comes out with Hmm.

Justanotherlurker · 23/05/2017 11:01

Children get murdered -> demand prosecution for angry tweet.

Pathetic.

Are people so challenged in the thinking department that they really can't be bothered by two entirely different things at the same time?

And you call other people pathetic? If you had another brain cell it would be lonely.

Justanotherlurker · 23/05/2017 11:04

This is basically what she wants. Say something people sorta agree with , obviously not the hitler way of final solution but a solution to terrorism would be welcome, and get pinned as the bad guy when the real bad guys just killed a bunch of innocent people. More people outraged on the for and against side for her thus more click thus more money.

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 11:08

I think she's a frightening woman.

I always wonder what the women were like in the camps in WW2 how could they help kill millions To stand by and see children killed. To help kill children and mothers.

We see the man who could do that today as he blows himself up. Do we see the woman too in her hate filled speech.

AlwaysCcakeTime · 23/05/2017 11:10

Seriously? Some of you have no concept of basic, recent history?

Final Solution. Google it, FFS, and read a bloody book or two.

Sadly yes, I have teenage nephews, lovely boys, both of Indian descent.

Their lack of knowledge around both World Wars is scarey, we watched Woman in Gold recently, and younger DN asked why were they so desperate to leave Austria. . . . .

I mean seriously. . . .

He got a half hour precis on anti-semitism, WW1 & WW2, he never even hear of the Nuremberg Trials. He'd heard of the camps but thought they were like ages ago, like in the 1700-1800's.

Neither of them are stupid, they've just both been taught to pass exams, if it's not going to be on the exam paper you don't need to know it.

As for their knowledge of Indian history, well it's non existent, I was brought up educated in rural Ireland and have more knowledge than either of them.

To quote George Santayana; Those who do not know history's mistakes are doomed to repeat them.

I mention that they are of Indian descent, because they've both said that they're getting more racists comments, for the older one who's a bit of a hipster and had a beard, he's shaved it off because people have assumed brown & beard =Muslim and extreme.

If they followed any religion it would be Sikh, and they only go to temple for the food........

grannytomine · 23/05/2017 11:11

Someone reported her to the Police. Disgraceful, as if the Police haven't got enough to deal with today. So does that mean we can all go and do a bit of shoplifting today? After all the police have better things to deal with. Don't worry about speed limits, or drink driving. Feel like beating up your wife or your child, feel free the police have got enough to deal with today.

How bloody ridiculous.

grannytomine · 23/05/2017 11:13

I'm amazed that kids don't know about the war, my GC at 10 can tell you all about it, what led up to it, who was fighting, the camps. I thought it was on the curriculum.

hazeyjane · 23/05/2017 11:14

For anyone who doesn't know, this is from resources used in schools www.theholocaustexplained.org/ks3/the-final-solution/
This piece of history shouldn't be forgotten. It should also not be forgotten that, the dehumanising language used to describe Jewish people in the build up to the war, the resentment and fear created against Jewish peoples and the idea that they were a 'problem' was one of the reasons that ideas like The Final Solution became acceptable to ordinary people.

Words matter.

There are lots of people who agree with Katie Hopkins, they like her 'no bullshit' approach, they get comfort from the bile that oozes put of her. She feeds into that fear, resentment and ignorance that is brewing beneath the surface. She fans the flame of hatred. She would have the book thrown at her. People need to see that what she is saying is wrong, and that we will not accept it.

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 11:14

Always

Wow are you in England? My kids youngest 18 have studied WW2 both at middle and high school and we studied it st school in the 80s.

Anyway don't their parents talk history to them and teach them about politics?

MyFavouriteName · 23/05/2017 11:14

I have enough anger and intelligence to be able to hate the person(s) who carried out this attack and to despise Katie Hopkins. What a bizarre thing for people to say.

The police also have to deal with the incident and all other crime that occurs. Also, it's Manchester police (and possibly some of the surrounding ones) that are dealing with the attack. There are plenty more to deal with Hopkins. She doesn't live in Manchester so it wouldn't be them anyway.

And inciting racial hatred, which is basically what she was doing with that tweet, is a serious offence. And just because she deleted it doesn't mean it doesn't matter.

FFS.

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 11:17

granny

My dd at 10 learned 'hanging up the washing on the Siegfried line' and did a WW2 concert. Grandparents were invited and lots cried.

I don't think I know any teenagers who don't know about WW2

nina2b · 23/05/2017 11:17

You are playing into hands by "discussing" her.

NotISaidTheWalrus · 23/05/2017 11:18

My under tens could tell you about the Holocaust and WW2, and they are from a country that wasn't even in WW2.
Shocking that British adults could be so uninformed. Never mind what you learned in formal education, how can you avoided every book or film or tv show set during the war?
Knowledge isn't just about education, in fact it hardly is at all.

CrazyExIngenue · 23/05/2017 11:18

I have enough anger and intelligence to be able to hate the person(s) who carried out this attack and to despise Katie Hopkins. What a bizarre thing for people to say.

Especially as they are essentially one and the same people. People who's only purpose in life is to hurt other people who can't fight back. To create terror and ignorance. One uses bombs, the other uses tweets, but don't assume for one second that they don't wish for the exact same outcome.

Sillysausage123 · 23/05/2017 11:19

It is the phrase that I was unaware of not the war.

knowler · 23/05/2017 11:19

Silly sausage - I wasn't having a sly dig. I'm genuinely astounded that ppl's grasp of recent European history is so poor they don't recognise that abhorrent phrase.

Fliptophead · 23/05/2017 11:19

Sillysausage123
I think people assumed posters were being disingenuous and pretending KH could have meant anything as it really is a huge part of WW2 history. I'm actually really surprised anyone doesn't know what it means. That said it's a very particular phrasing and there is fuck all doubt that KH knew what she was implying.

As to the posters implying I can't be annoyed about both things. FUCK OFF. You're on fucking MN. Presumably you're discussing all sort of things today that are not related to the tragedy in Manchester. Because humans do not have a finite amount of emotion.

And yes, I am calling for her to be dealt with for hate speech as this is exactly the sort of time that racists will feel emboldened to do harm to more people Angry I don't choose my time and place to get angry about people calling for murdering Muslims. What KH said was an incitement to murder and using the previous murder of 5 million people for a bit of word play.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 23/05/2017 11:19

YNBU. But I think the Police have more important matters to deal with today than arresting someone for possible hate speech.

HoldBackTheRain · 23/05/2017 11:19

justanotherlurker it's not pathetic. Her tweets and vile opinions encourage further attacks and hate crimes, meaning more violence affacting other people.

If nobody listened to her shit on LBC, or read her columns she wouldn't be employed.

Thinking of everyone affected by the bombing in Manchester, and terrorism all over the world. I was reminded this morning of the nightclub bombing in Bali, so similar. Young people out dancing, listening to music, having a good time Sad

nina2b · 23/05/2017 11:20

...her hands

NotISaidTheWalrus · 23/05/2017 11:20

No sly digs here, completely open ones.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 23/05/2017 11:20

I'm not Katie Hopkins biggest fan in the slightest but it's quite telling that some on the internet are more offended at what she said than they are at the fact some monster put a bomb amongst children.

Fliptophead · 23/05/2017 11:20

Unless KH is based in Manchester I think there are enough police to deal with her. And I fucking hope to god that every police force around the country is not completely refusing to deal with all other crimes.
