Explosion reported in Manchester area, hopefully it's nothing

OP posts:
brexitstolemyfuture · 23/05/2017 00:15

It does sound like a big explosion outside the main venue. 2nd biggest arena in Europe. Security shouted to get out apparently :(

I waited 15 mins before posting this pray thread as many reports were starting to say a big exploaion.

OP posts:
Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 00:19

right yes have heard that. Oh god just thoughts and prayers for everyone concerned

TesticlesInTheBlender · 23/05/2017 00:21

Victoria Station is below the the arena - I imagine that is why it has been closed.

2014newme · 23/05/2017 00:25

Could be gas explosion

PurpleMinionMummy · 23/05/2017 00:25

It's awful. A video on twitter shows a building (I assume opposite) lighting up, it was no small explosion. Journalists were all over the tweet wanting details it so assume it's real

'It's not right to start speculating and hinting if nothing is confirmed.' Absolutely. It just makes you look ghoulish.

Ghoulish? Really?

I'd rather think people shocked and appalled and worried? Numerous fatalities - confirmed later in the thread yet you have the pompous twats querying the wording of an OP? Aye right.

CakeAhoy · 23/05/2017 00:28

There are many ways to be ghoulish.

Frankly I find those who gleefully hunt trough a thread after a tradgedy for any hints of people suspecting 'terrorism' or to rip apart the wording of posts equally as ghoulish.

LallanasInPyjamas · 23/05/2017 00:33

Will you lot pack it in for fuck sake?

Nobody gives a shit about who is right when people have died.

gillybeanz · 23/05/2017 00:34

My dd friends have just called from school, the windows of their dorms have gone through with the blast, it must be huge.
The kids at the school are ok but very shocked, my dd came home today for an appointment tomorrow, she is sat with me very scared.

brexitstolemyfuture · 23/05/2017 00:37

Nurses at NHS are apparently saying a nail bomb :(

Phew! So relieved I don't have to pray for Ariana Grande too!

Seriously? You really think now is a time to try and make a joke? My sister is in Manchester on business and I can't get through to her!!! Whether it a bomb or a balloon can you not imagine what people are going through now?? and you nit pick at a bloody OP???

Ugly. Damn ugly

user1471456357 · 23/05/2017 00:39

Ffs, those poor people.

CakeAhoy · 23/05/2017 00:39

A nail bomb? Fuckers!

ComingUpTrumps · 23/05/2017 00:40

Gilly Shock gosh. That sounds horrific. Hope your daughter is doing okay. And her friends at school. Flowers

gillybeanz · 23/05/2017 00:54

Trumps
She came home today for an appointment tomorrow.
I can't imagine how worried their parents must be. Some don't have parents in the uk, it must be scary for the little ones.

Apparently the blast was deafening and they are next to the station.

flyingwithwings · 23/05/2017 00:56

Gilly . I was thinking of your DD !

Thank GOD she did not hear the explosion or see any carnage

Best Wishes to Junior Gilly..

ComingUpTrumps · 23/05/2017 00:56

I'm so sorry gilly - that's awful FlowersFlowers

shinyredbus · 23/05/2017 01:01

Valfane - you should be ashamed of yourself. Seriously.

user1491572121 · 23/05/2017 01:02

Oh I just can't take this. It's too close to my home...I feel so stressed and worried and sad now....I'm in Australia and feel devestated.

JaneJeffer · 23/05/2017 01:08

This is absolutely horrendous. Fecking bastards who did this. RIP to all those who have been killed.

We love you Manchester, all thoughts xxxxxxxxxx

CheeseQueen · 23/05/2017 01:11

Pray for Manchester. What does that actually mean?
Sorry, but I've been watching this unfold on social media the past hour. From a "speaker blowing, nothing to worry about" to the more it comes out it really doesn't seem like just that. Sad
All this "pray for". Pray for Belgium, pray for Paris, pray for Manchester.
When are we actually going to DO something?

gillybeanz · 23/05/2017 01:11

Thank you, as it dawns on the kids, they are still texting now, they are beginning to see they are lucky and are so sorry to hear reports that children have been killed.
Some of her friends were crying and they heard but saw nothing.
I think half term may be declared sooner than friday with any luck.

What they have experienced is nothing though compared to what those poor people in the Arena have seen and heard.
My heart goes out to all those affected.

SumThucker · 23/05/2017 01:18

I'm from Manchester and appreciate the 'pray for Manchester', actually. I'm also old enough to remember the Arndale being bombed in the 90's.
