To have 'humiliated' my MIL

ImALurkerNotAFighter · 07/05/2017 11:22

MIL has an awful tendency to do 'penis portions'. I'd avoided staying with her for a few years, as when breastfeeding she'd served up a tiny inadequate meal, then told me she hadn't done a plate for DS as 'he could just have some of mine' Angry This was on top of sly little digs about my weight.
So MIL wanted us to stay this weekend so she could spend time with the DC. DH usually goes alone but apparently as I'm free this weekend it would be rude for me not to come. They very kindly babysat the asleep DC while we went to the pub. This morning MIL does breakfast for us and SIL and BIL. I get 1 small sausage, 1 half piece of bacon, 1 egg and a small slice of dry toast. MIL and SIL have similar. DH, FIL and BIL get 3 large sausages, 2 bacon, 2 eggs, beans and black pudding. I asked MIL if there was any more, she looked shocked and said no.
I was very cross at this point and walked round the table, took half the sausage, black pudding and beans off a very quiet DH to even it up (we were both left with pretty equal quantities) and sat back down.
MIL feels I have humiliated her, and 'at your size you clearly don't realise that was a proper breakfast '. I'm a size 18, so yes, fat.
I'm fuming and want to leave now. DH wants to stay and take them out for lunch as planned.
I know there are mumsnetters out there who believe the wimminz should subsist on a lettuce leaf and a sniff of meat, but sensible people of mumsnet WIBU? AIBU to pack the DC and leave?

But OP is complaining she is not get mens portions

No she wasnt, which proves that you didnt read it. She complained that the men got huge piled up plates and the women got the amount that most people would give to a child.

that's why she is 18 Stone

She isnt. Again in the OP if you had bothered to read it.

if people are not told information they won't learn and will continue to make mistakes.

How fucking patronising! I and most other overweight people know why we are overweight thank you. I dont need some self appointed diet Tzar to lecture me! I got fat because I got ill. Nothing to do with bad choices or needing to be told so I can learn thank you.

You are being fucking offensive by the way you talk about overweight people, by the way you assume that a fat arse means an inability to think or make good decisions and by the way you have decided that we all need educating by you and your overpriced piece of tat.

RedDogsBeg · 07/05/2017 22:47

user stop being so over the top evangelical, the OP did not ask and nor does she require your input on her size and advice on weight loss, you are being as rude and judgemental as her MIL.

You have spectacularly missed the entire premise of the thread and I have neither the patience nor energy to explain it to you in words you will understand.

Go and munch on your Fitbit.

user1494184470 · 07/05/2017 22:48

A fitbit is about £100, you will save that in smaller portion sizes of food in a week or two.

I have a fitbit but am not yet magically thin . What's that you say user - I have to measure calories in so they are less than calories out. Goodness what a revolutionary notion, hope it catches on and then everyone will lose weight just like that.

Good job OP started this thread so she could get such useful weight loss tips. Does that answer your question OP - oh wait it appears you were asking about something totally different. Still unasked for dieting advice is always so helpful isn't it ?

RedDogsBeg

We tell people to stop smoking, why is that OK but not ok to tell people to stop eating themselves to death?

Idoidoidoidoido · 07/05/2017 22:50

Sorry I am not native English, I just see many fat English women and they don't seem to care,

That's what happens when women eat the same size portions as men. We have less muscle mass so don't burn off the extra calories as easily.
I'm all for equality of the sexes, but going against biology and wanting insisting on having the same portions as men is just plain silly.

PyongyangKipperbang · 07/05/2017 22:50

£100 over 2 weeks in smaller portions! WTF were you eating, baby unicorns?! :o

OFf to report....

paxillin · 07/05/2017 22:50

Maybe OP does care about her health and weight, but doesn't want a fitbit. I would hate to have the bloody fatbot calculating my food intake all the time, it would take the joy out of eating for me. Lovely it works for you, but it isn't for everyone.

Idoidoidoidoido · 07/05/2017 22:52

Fitbits calculate how much you eat?
I thought they mainly counted steps? Confused

PyongyangKipperbang · 07/05/2017 22:52

How do you know that someone is using a FitBit?

Lweji · 07/05/2017 22:54

For someone whose first language is not English you are very familiar with the term tranny.

This is definitely the thread that keeps on giving. Grin

Is your MIL or you on benefits too, OP?

PurpleDaisies · 07/05/2017 22:54

A fitbit is about £100, you will save that in smaller portion sizes of food in a week or two.

This is a joke right? We spend £100 on food in about three weeks.

PyongyangKipperbang · 07/05/2017 22:55

:o

Ok you can have that one! :o

Gwenhwyfar · 07/05/2017 22:55

"the women got the amount that most people would give to a child."

I disagree with that. Seeing as most women have cereal and milk for breakfast it was a large breakfast considering it wasn't being eaten as brunch.

EmpressoftheMundane · 07/05/2017 22:55

I agree that men need more calories than women generally. But they need like 20-25% more. The OP has described them getting about 300% more. The MIL is going to extremes on both sides of the spectrum. Men need an extra egg or an extra sausage or an extra slice of toast. Not double or triple the amount the women are having.

Gwenhwyfar · 07/05/2017 22:56

"That's what happens when women eat the same size portions as men. We have less muscle mass so don't burn off the extra calories as easily.

This.

user1494184470 · 07/05/2017 22:56

Idoidoidoidoido

They track your calorie expenditure total from your HR and activity monitored, you then track you food intake via MyFitnessPal and from that you keep them within the same range to maintain or 200cal below for healthy weight loss, people usually over estimate calories needed and under estimate calories they are eating.

If you look at the calories of OP meal she was given it was the right amount roughly if she was having a lunch and dinner that day and was not exercising.

PyongyangKipperbang · 07/05/2017 22:56

Interestingly this is the only thread on MN that User has posted on and all she is going on about is FitBits......anyone else smell something?
