DH has been sprayed with red dye!

This morning DH was running along the Thames towpath as he often does. He was running quite fast as he's training. There is an area where the path narrows a bit and he had caught up and was running behind a woman. He thought she moved to one side to let him pass, so he ran up behind her, at which point she screamed and suddenly sprayed him with a spray! Most of it got on his t-shirt but some of it also also got on his neck and lower face, though he didn't realise at the time. She screamed at him to get away from her and then ran back the other way. He was saying to her, "It's ok" etc, but he said she was so freaked out and looked so terrified he didn't try and follow her.
Now he has a zig-zag pattern of red up his neck and on the left side if his face and it really won't come off. He went into work and someone told him its probably a dye that the police use to mark criminals! I looked on google and it looks as if you can buy a red spray dye that won't wash off for 7 days! If it's this, it's a nightmare as he has to go to China on business tomorrow.
DH feels bad that she was so scared and her reaction actually scared him. He thinks maybe he should have held back, but he thought she was letting him overtake her. I think her reaction was a bit extreme though -AIBU? I run down that path frequently (although not at 6.30am) and I have never heard of anything like this.

That's why I thought there would be few of them in business Zilpah.

I am delighted to have my ignorance publicly exposed!

Cantseethewoods · 29/04/2017 02:09

It's like a big fuck you to all the "don't want a daughter" crap.

Indeed, although that preference has largely been eliminated now, because the extended family set-up has broken down and factories have a slight preference for female employees over male. If you visit the orphanages now, it's probably at least 67% boys, most with SEN. A NT girl would be adopted domestically within weeks.

Female workforce participation is higher, facilitated by migrant childcare, which is very affordable, or, for poorer women, leave kids in village with GPs and go to Shenzhen to the factories.

That said, the two women cited in the article who became billionaires from v humble backgrounds remain the exception that proves the rule. Social mobility isn't great in China. Access to careers like banking and the law has the same issues as UK/US.

JessieMcJessie · 29/04/2017 08:26

Yes and of course the one child policy meant that childcare was easier to arrange and childbearing took less time out if a career. I used to go to China on business a lot and there were always very senior women in my sector. We always called them "Madam" too, as in "Madam Chen". It's also interesting that Chinese business can involve a lot of heavy boozing at banquets and there is no expectation that the women will drink less than the men.

The non executive chairman (yes, that was the phrase used) of my old employer was a Chinese woman.

She had a fearless grip of all detail - and everything tended to end up going her way.

This was in manufacturing,

Just sayin'

Wow this thread has moved on since the other day!
I just wanted to say, I've found 99% of the posts on here very helpful. The questions posed by a few posters which have been heavily challenged are nothing DH didn't ask himself. It's a difficult situation to be in for obvious reasons.
He tells me the dye is fading slightly. He has had a few Hmm looks, but not many questions and he's embracing having more facial hair than normal which is helping!
I'm not on Twitter, so no idea what happened there? Thankyou for so many responses on this unusual and sensitive issue.

OP, you don't have to have a Twitter account to read the Mumsnet Madness Twitter page as it's public.
I'm glad your husband's trip is going OK despite the dye.

Collaborate · 29/04/2017 10:51

I'm not on Twitter, so no idea what happened there?

Mumsnetmadness were highlighting some of the more absurd posts that painted your husband as the villain and the attacker as the victim.

FishyGill · 29/04/2017 11:01

This thread is bonkers

DontPullThatTubeOut · 30/04/2017 13:02

This has to be the most batshit crazy crap I've read on here in a while. Posters victim blaming while arguing against victim blaming, it's really quite ridiculous.

For what it's worth, the husband is the victim not the woman, she may have been a victim before but in this instance she was not.

kali110 · 30/04/2017 14:30

Is mumsnetmadness actually mumsnet? I no longer have a twitter account, i never have the social media accounts when things like these go on Grin

It's fading a bit now then op?

IloveBanff · 30/04/2017 14:46

There's nothing to stop you looking at the Mumsnet Madness Twitter account though, kali110 Mumsnet Madness

kali110 · 01/05/2017 16:19

I can't ilove my account was locked so i can only view twitter if i put my phone number in Hmmi googled, it's happened to a few people. Seems they thought my acc was a spam account, prob because i never tweet anything Grin

IloveBanff · 01/05/2017 20:18

But I can see it and I've never had a Twitter account in my life, as it's a public page. You've made my brain hurt now. Oh well at least it's only a little tiny pain. Wink

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 01/05/2017 20:28

Haven't read the thread but wanted to post my first thought upon seeing the title...

Does he look angry?

Angry
DontPullThatTubeOut · 02/05/2017 23:05

How's the dye now? Hope you and your husband are a little less stressed.

kali110 · 03/05/2017 20:05

IloveBanff apparently twitter thought my account was a spam account ( probably because i'd only ever tweeted once lol) and locked it/blocked whatever so whenever i go into twitter it askes me to put my phone number in. I can't view anything.
I keep meaning to email them but i can't be arsed.

Mojit0 · 03/05/2017 20:19

Hi just saw this pop up again! He came back from his trip with more of a beard than usual which actually suits him. Smile The red has almost disappeared now, thank god. No more dramas this week, but he's kept his running to the streets, just in case. Thanks for asking!
