DH has been sprayed with red dye!

This morning DH was running along the Thames towpath as he often does. He was running quite fast as he's training. There is an area where the path narrows a bit and he had caught up and was running behind a woman. He thought she moved to one side to let him pass, so he ran up behind her, at which point she screamed and suddenly sprayed him with a spray! Most of it got on his t-shirt but some of it also also got on his neck and lower face, though he didn't realise at the time. She screamed at him to get away from her and then ran back the other way. He was saying to her, "It's ok" etc, but he said she was so freaked out and looked so terrified he didn't try and follow her.
Now he has a zig-zag pattern of red up his neck and on the left side if his face and it really won't come off. He went into work and someone told him its probably a dye that the police use to mark criminals! I looked on google and it looks as if you can buy a red spray dye that won't wash off for 7 days! If it's this, it's a nightmare as he has to go to China on business tomorrow.
DH feels bad that she was so scared and her reaction actually scared him. He thinks maybe he should have held back, but he thought she was letting him overtake her. I think her reaction was a bit extreme though -AIBU? I run down that path frequently (although not at 6.30am) and I have never heard of anything like this.

Badcat666 why? It's only a bit of paint according to one poster Hmm
(It would set my asthma off though, along with a panick attack).
None seems to care about this though.

RitaMills · 27/04/2017 17:32

Even if you found my comments to be absurd, it doesn't justify your personal attack on me. Please stop.

So you defend unjustified physical attacks on random men but throw your toys out of the parm when other posters rightly point out how absurd the tripe you're coming out with is? At least it's just words directed at you and not a nice red tag all over your face for a week. Hmm

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 27/04/2017 17:49

Don't worry, Lilcornishpixie, Blistory has still made mumsnetmadness

What's sad is that those commentors are tarring all MN users with the same brush just because of 1 or 2 people Sad. If I was on Twitter I'd point out that the majority are sticking up for the man. Any Twitter users here?

CheeseQueen · 27/04/2017 17:56

There's some pointing out that it was the man who was attacked, not the woman...

TheLuminaries · 27/04/2017 18:08

There is nothing like a "My silly little wife" story to bond blokes together, and I'm sure your shoulders are broad enough to take it as a one-off.

Although I am horrified by the victim blaming on this thread (and for the avoidance of doubt, the victim is the guy who was sprayed in the face when innocently going about his business) I couldn't let this bit of rank sexism pass without comment. Can you seriously not picture a world where women are at business meetings and responsible for making deals? Is the world of work entirely male in this posters mind?

Jeez, Mumsnet real is full of all sorts of crazy some days. Very sorry about your DH, OP.

DeleteOrDecay · 27/04/2017 18:17

I'm not sure a jury based trial system is the best option...

I agree.

brassbrass · 27/04/2017 19:00

The one place I see women regularly doing the attacking is on Mumsnet. Don't know what's happened to MN lately but every thread gets derailed by a few sweary voices. Though have to say this thread has managed to stay grown up for longer than most.

Elphaba99 · 27/04/2017 20:59

Blimey, that escalated a lot in 24 hours. Shock

Very glad your DH made a statement to the Police, OP. Giving him a letter for airport security was sensible. Hope his trip goes well and that the red fades!

kali110 · 27/04/2017 21:21

Apart from saying 'doolallytaps' i don't see how lilcorn has issued a personal attack either?
Unless Saying posters comments are absurd are now attacks, in which case many posts would frequently be deleted Confused

HappyFlappy · 27/04/2017 22:53

Not in China - but I'd be delighted to be proved wrong.

FairytalesAreBullshit · 27/04/2017 23:22

I'm astounded at how a thread, about an innocent man getting assaulted, has escalated into absurdity. Including lovely posts like, 'I wonder if DH is an innocent as he sounds!' If you victim blamed elsewhere there'd be hell to pay.

Absolutely. That Mumsnet Madness Twitter account has some awful people on there too.

StillHungryy · 27/04/2017 23:52

Thing is mumsnet madness I think it's a good idea if it was an actual mumsnetter, and done in good fun that members all agreed upon, but as it is right now is a pisstake

MrsPeelyWaly · 28/04/2017 04:13

Speaking from personal experience I can assure you they do.

Cantseethewoods · 28/04/2017 05:07

And they'd also find him making disparaging remarks about his wife awkward and embarrassing.

Collaborate · 28/04/2017 07:28

but as it is right now is a pisstake

They have a rich vein of source material to tap. It's like an open goal most of the time. If there weren't some quite frankly absurd views expressed here it wouldn't be so damn eye-poppingly funny.

bruffin · 28/04/2017 09:30

amont of chinese woman in top corporate jobs

bruffin · 28/04/2017 09:35

lets try again
50% of worlds women billionaires are chinese

HappyFlappy · 28/04/2017 09:56

I stand corrected MrsPeely

And I apologise.

gotthemoononastick · 28/04/2017 11:33

Meanwhile better watch out on the towpath for a fury- crazed old mother of a wonderful innocent son.

Probably armed with a HATPIN!

TheLuminaries · 28/04/2017 13:01

Great link Bruffin, very sad it was necessary, it just shows how outdated sexist assumptions, with a side order of post colonial racism, are so deeply ingrained Sad

ZilphasHatpin · 28/04/2017 14:25

Clearly some reference to me but I have no idea why. Confused

IloveBanff · 28/04/2017 14:44

That comment (the one you quoted) made no sense to me at all, Zilphas Confused

ZilphasHatpin · 28/04/2017 14:55

Glad it wasn't just me! Ah well, we'll have to wait with baited breath for got to explain.

ZilphasHatpin · 28/04/2017 14:57

Btw I am loving that linked article about the success of Chinese women in the business world. It's like a big fuck you to all the "don't want a daughter" crap.
