Probably just me. But mine is raw mushrooms, with garlic squeezed straight from the tube. Straight in the gob. It's better than sex.

Everyone thinks I'm a dog. Please tell me yours!

Grin at mug of bisto.

Giddyaunt18 · 08/04/2017 11:14

Graphista what about cornflake tart at school dinners? Pastry base, layer of jam and cornflakes on top. I loved that.

Giddyaunt18 · 08/04/2017 11:15

Talking of gravy, a boy at school used to bring in a silver cube of oxo every day as a snack!!! The ignorant 70s really were bliss!

Summerisdone · 08/04/2017 11:49

Giddyaunt corn flake tarts were the best. They were always one of the best puddings served in primary school. I was primary age right through the 90's so luckily missed out on the entire Jamie Oliver involvement of 'making school dinners healthier' which really just meant making them tasteless as they're still not that healthy now.

Graphista · 08/04/2017 11:53

Yea loved cornflake tarts!

frankie001 · 08/04/2017 12:01

Sausage roll sandwiches. Proper door step ones.
Salt and vinegar crisps with freezing cold chocolate.

Cagliostro · 08/04/2017 12:08

Digestive biscuit. Carnation caramel spread. Sliced banana. Squirty cream.

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 08/04/2017 12:28

Chips and gravy with loads of vinegar
Chips and curry sauce
Melted cheese - nothing else - slices of cheese in a ramekin that I melt in the microwave and eat with a fork
Buttered Ryvita dipped in coffee
Pickled onions and cubes of cheese

OVienna · 08/04/2017 12:45

Tomato paste on macaroni with butter and dried parsley. I like the tartness of the paste.

I will post a photo later of something but may need to name change before and after.

frieda909 · 08/04/2017 13:25

Chips, cheese and burger sauce!

Steinbeck · 08/04/2017 13:36

@acornsandnuts

That's mine too.....thickly spread butter of course!Grin

Cagliostro · 08/04/2017 13:49

This thread is making my nauseous first trimester stomach churn but I can't stop reading
Same 😂😷

Interesting about the carrots and peanut butter. I thought my mum was mad when she told me to try PB with celery but it's amazing

Cagliostro · 08/04/2017 15:29

All this school dinner talk is making me miss Turkey Twizzlers. I'll never forgive Jamie Oliver for that. :(

MumBod · 08/04/2017 15:32

I make cornflake tarts quite often.

They are lush.

Ampersand22 · 08/04/2017 15:41

Did you know that a craving for vinegar can be your body's way of trying to PH balance itself? If you have vinegar urges like I do, get some raw apple cider vinegar, it's good for you, antibacterial, antifungal. I used to sneak sips of vinegar as a kid.

Ampersand22 · 08/04/2017 15:45

The best breville sandwich ever is madras curry paste, cheese and apple.

millifiori · 08/04/2017 15:47

Crisp sandwich on crusty white bread. DH doesn't even pretend to hide his disgust at them.

OP - tube garlic is the way forward. Garlic has come in a tube ever since the DC were born.

PetraStrorm · 08/04/2017 16:15

Banana and mature cheddar sandwiches.

Mint sauce on pretty much anything.

Tomato puree, butter, balsamic vinegar, capers, raisins and pinenuts/pumpkin kernels stirred into hot pasta.

Midget gems and ready salted crisps (preferably the proper midget gems with the liquorice flavour ones). Floral gums or cherry lips are also good with crisps.

Very thinly sliced cucumber with vinegar and sugar.

Macaroni cheese, baked in the oven till it's completely cremated and crispy, then drizzled with balsamic glaze.

PetraStrorm · 08/04/2017 16:22

And tea and coffee mixed together. This is from my 70s childhood when my parents would entertain and I'd get to have the dregs of the teapot/coffee pot after the grownups had finished. This was a massive treat and one I'd look forward to immensely.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 08/04/2017 18:03

Oh God I need to lose weight but some of these ideas are amazing.

A boyfriend I had as a teen introduced me to chicken and mushroom pot noodle on cheap white bread toast with lashings of butter. Mmm salty.

WickedLazy · 08/04/2017 18:09

Pot noodle to dip bread in, mmm. Also a big spoonfull of branston pickle, and a chunk of cheese to nibble.

Graphista · 08/04/2017 18:14

"I make cornflake tarts quite often"

Ahem - recipe?

Graphista · 08/04/2017 18:17

"OP - tube garlic is the way forward. Garlic has come in a tube ever since the DC were born." I first discovered garlic in a tube in Germany (they put garlic in EVERYTHING it's great!)

They also had frozen garlic, pickled garlic, roasted garlic, fridge garlic, garlic slices, dried garlic Grin

SarahR19 · 08/04/2017 18:21

Peanut butter and salt and vinegar crisps in a sandwich 😋

Deathraystare · 08/04/2017 18:27

Probably very sad, but Smash potato made up, then a dollop of butter and lots of salad cream. MMMMM
