My 2 week old cries unless being held or in his pram.

My sister was up last week and spent the whole week holding him apart from at bedtime.

Can this have caused the issues I'm now having or am I being daft?!

I ate only oreos for two weeks because I couldn't put her down and i struggled to get in and out of bed anyways. 99% of the pics from that time she's covered in black crumbs 🙈

A young child doesn't have the capacity to be spoilt, or spite you or anything at that age, it's all instinct and reactions.
Babies need a lot of attention their helpless little beings and if you put a baby down and left it thousands of years ago, the baby would get eaten! So no wonder babies don't like Being left!

I think babies grow and reach stages appropriate for their development, for example, when potty training a child, nobody says "don't ever put your kids in nappies because they'll learn to poo themselves and never ever get out of them" that's not true at all. The child reaches a maturity stage in their development and it's easier to teach them a new skill. Many toddlers get to a stage where they can learn not to mess themselves.

I think the same is with self soothing and settling, your child will reach a stage where they're happier to be left for longer and will learn to keep themselves happy. But that could be months from now.
