Coming back after three days to deliberately misspell my username in a totes hilaire manner and make an inexplicable reference to my 'abilities' - OK. I'm bowing out for good now, I defer to the power of your wit.

OfftheCuff · 27/02/2017 07:40

My bush has thinned considerably since the menopause despite HRT and I'm not sure why Klaphat got so much grief for telling how things are for many postmenopausal women. Value your bushes whilst you still have them.

This.

picklemepopcorn · 27/02/2017 18:15

Klaphat got grief for getting cross with fiftybales. We all agree you lose pubic hair after menopause, that you need not be elderly for it to happen. Some of us used more aggressive language than others when discussing it.

picklemepopcorn · 27/02/2017 18:16

Why did I comment? Will I never learn...

Booshbeesh · 27/02/2017 18:57

Please stick some googley eyes on the bush and tell him its the bush monsters coming and taunt him until he begs for forgiveness

CoraPirbright · 27/02/2017 19:06

Really, do we?? Oh goody!! I look like a yeti down there if I don't shave/wax!!

But back to the OP - I find this (porn-led) trend for zero hair down below really disturbing. So much effort, not to mention pain, to present the menfolk with a view like a 7 year old girl. Makes me shudder tbh. Perhaps the men who insist on it cant handle a real woman.

flummoxedworried · 01/04/2017 15:45

You've every right to stop shaving if you want to. I have a full bush, myself.

However, remember if your DP wants to grow a full beard you won't be able to complain!

HelenaDove · 01/04/2017 15:59

And if thats the case the OP should feel free to stop shaving her legs.

The equivilant would be the DP not shaving his pubic hair either flummoxed. Which men arent pressured to do. Funny that!

What ppl do with their own bodies is up to them.

flummoxedworried · 02/04/2017 09:56

I wasn't really talking equivalents though.

I was trying to make the point that if OP doesn't like men with beards and her DP grows one, she will have to suck it up (not literally Grin).

VeryButchyRestingFace · 02/04/2017 10:38

Pubic hair is something human females develop during puberty. It's natural and normal to have pubic hair and it serves a purpose.

To those people claiming to be repulsed and turned off by pubic hair and defending that viewpoint as perfectly rational and acceptable -

What if OP's husband was turned off by her having hair on her head? What if she's always had a buzz cut and now decided to grow it out?

Does she owe her husband an explanation for doing so? Would it seem rational to you that he stops wanting to have sex with her because of her "repulsive", "unhygienic", "wrong" head hair?

Pubic hair is every bit as natural and normal as head hair. It's socialisation that has caused this attitude towards pubic hair, not that it's inherently any of the things the "unhygienic" groupies claim it to be.

ForalltheSaints · 02/04/2017 10:43

Speaking as a man, I would never use a change in a woman's preferences as a reason to have or not have sex. I might ask why, but that's all.

user1489179512 · 02/04/2017 11:00

People get so defensive on threads like this because deep down they know that removing pubic hair etc is more feminine and more hygienic.

Miscella · 02/04/2017 11:01

User - April fools day was yesterday.

user1489179512 · 02/04/2017 11:02

Sorry?

Beebeeeight · 02/04/2017 11:13

It's so sad that so many women hate their own bodies.

If a man loves you he loves you in your natural state.

pollyglot · 02/04/2017 11:51

Just a fashion trend. The merkin was the answer for women whose bush didn't measure up to men's expectations back in the day. Italian prostitutes used to have blonde merkins made to please the American occupation forces during WW2. Apparently women have become unclean since then.

25bottles · 02/04/2017 12:05

It's not a new fad.
Muslim men and women are recommended to shave their pubis and wax their armpits once every 40 days.

OMClaire · 02/04/2017 12:41

I'm finding it very unsettling how many people are comparing women having no pubic hair to young girls! I can assure you I do not resemble a 7 year old girl and frankly the fact some of you have made this comparison is quite disturbing!

I have never consulted my DH about my pubic hair; personally I prefer none but some weeks I can't be bothered to wax so rock the au natural look and hubby still doesn't bat an eyelid.

Why are we all getting so upset about what other women's personal preferences are!?

HelenaDove · 02/04/2017 23:51

user why is a womans pubic hair unhygenic Why are you not saying the same about a mans?

You are from the UKP forum arent you!

VestalVirgin · 03/04/2017 12:48

Muslim men and women are recommended to shave their pubis and wax their armpits once every 40 days.

Muslim women are also recommended to cover the hair on their head because it is somehow more dirty and sinful than the hair on men's heads.

If you are trying to advocate for shaving, then you are not picking the right sources.

Why are we all getting so upset about what other women's personal preferences are!?

Because the pro-shaving lobby is so damn rude and irrational. As no doubt you have already seen on this thread.

LorLorr2 · 03/04/2017 12:59

I HATE shaving down there, with all the upkeep needed and the discomfort that comes with having coarse hair. However, sadly I'm from the generation where having a bush is apparently the most disgraceful thing you can do. Anyone over 30 is fortunate in that respect as your men aren't so brainwashed ;)

HelenaDove · 03/04/2017 16:56

Lorlorr So start dating older men.

VestalVirgin · 03/04/2017 17:41

LorLorr, just don't shave.

If you are in a relationship, the guy will deal with it. There's not so many more women than men that he can afford to leave you over something so trivial and silly.

If you do ONS, well, someone has to start the boycott. Once every second women they try to have sex with turns out to have pubic hair, men under 30 will reconsider their attitudes.
(Or just not have casual sex anymore. Which is their problem, then.)
