To potentially get our postman fired

DP is a camera geek. On the weekend he bought a camera trap for catching wildlife in the garden. He wanted to test it out so set it up by the front door so he could test it by the kids going in and out. It's been there since Sunday.

So this evening he had a look at the footage with DD(5). There's us, there's the cat, there's the postman. Oh look, there's the postman having a piss against our garden wall Shock.

Our door is round the side of the house, so out of sight from the road. There's the door, the path next to the house, a small patch of grass and the neighbours wall. He literally posted a letter, turned round, knob out, pissed all over the grass and wall. Knob away, off to post more letters, obviously without washing his hands. Envy

It was done so casually it's hard to believe he's not done it before. On the plus side, he posted our letters first so that won't be covered in piss Grin. But seriously, who would do that?!

Thing is, we're in a village where everyone knows each other, and he's been the postie for years. But IANBU to report him and potentially get him sacked am I?! I have a slight pricking of my conscience if he did lose his job, but surely that's his problem, not mine?!

If he got his knob out and didn't urinate would that not be a sackable offence anyway? I am sure getting ones' knob out at work is not the done thing in any job. Well, most jobs.

skankingpiglet · 08/02/2017 21:54

Are the people who are outraged at this the same people who don't let tradesmen use their loo? If so you'll have most likely had someone wee in your garden.

I have a couple of postie friends and one of them told me they find spots on their route where they go for an al fresco wee if necessary. As others have said it's not always possible to find a public loo when you need one, particularly when your schedule doesn't allow for detours.

As it happens, I would also be less than happy about it the reason why I let tradesmen use the loo! but would probably run with a post-it on the front door asking nicely he doesn't do it again but is welcome to knock and use the loo if we're in.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 08/02/2017 21:54

local kleeneze man had a pee in the bushes, he got done for it! ...local papers were full of it.

Catzpyjamas · 08/02/2017 21:55

Put up a notice and he might get the message?

To potentially get our postman fired
Jett99 · 08/02/2017 21:55

Actually, there are a lot of professions where this is a problem. My OH has this problem every day, but luckily has a van so he keeps a bucket in there! Not fun at all for him, but when you're out working for hours, what do you expect? He must have been desperate.

Underbeneathsies · 08/02/2017 21:56

It's not just the peeing, it's the exposing his penis I'd worry about.

You have kids, he's flashing.

I'd have a word with him face to face and say he's engaging in risky behaviour that could be misconstrued as grooming.
If he continues to flash his penis in public, contact the police.

BabychamSocialist · 08/02/2017 21:57

It's not nice but I wouldn't report him for it. Post-men really are out for ages without the chance to use the loo, certainly if they're in a suburban area.

Can't believe there's people saying "oh use the public toilet!" - where do you live that still has them?! They've removed them in most places so drug addicts don't use them!

OopsDearyMe · 08/02/2017 21:59

He's an adult, flipping heck to those who actually think there may be a good reason lol yes report it, its anti social behaviour and who knows where else he's done it. As for feeling guilty why? He is the gross one not you.

hoddtastic · 08/02/2017 22:00

that is gopping. I'd report the dirty sod.

OCDmummy123 · 08/02/2017 22:01

Just a Thought but You are all talking about guys here but what about a female postie having a pee?

RedastheRose · 08/02/2017 22:01

He might get into trouble just for needing to have a pee around a quiet corner when he clearly needed to! Give the guy a break, leave a note pinned to the door saying your camera caught something interesting happening when he made a delivery the other day. You don't need to say more than that, he will know he has been busted and he won't do it again.

DrivingMeBonkers · 08/02/2017 22:02

Unbelievable thread.

You'd seriously contemplate getting someone sacked, losing their income, pension contributions, home, relationship, family all because he was caught short and discretely urinated in a secluded area.

I'm a great believer in what goes round comes round. Karma has a nasty way of biting you on the backside.

As for they hysteria about 'flashing'. Speechless.

Didyoumeantobesorude1 · 08/02/2017 22:02

I think the notice suggested above should be amended to read " Concealed CCTV cameras operate on these penises".

lookatyourwatchnow · 08/02/2017 22:03

Oh please, get a grip. What a drama over the postman urinating in the garden

DailyFailFuckwits · 08/02/2017 22:03

flywaxsleeprepeat Grin

Bearsinmotion · 08/02/2017 22:03

Like I said, there are toilets in the next village (next to the post office!). And he has a van. And it's on the patch of grass where DD stands when we're going out.

Will definitely leave a note. Or maybe an infographic.

OP posts:
Megatherium · 08/02/2017 22:03

I'm not sure you'd get far with the CCTV as evidence, though. Don't you have to let people know if you have cameras on your property? By all means report him, but I don't think you can use the footage to prove it unless you have signs up saying you have CCTV in operation

People are perfectly free to take and use CCTV film of people on domestic property.

AverysillyoldHector · 08/02/2017 22:07

I'd have a word with him face to face and say he's engaging in risky behaviour that could be misconstrued as grooming.

Whilst its a bit revolting, am struggling to see how anyone could misconstrue having a pee as grooming Confused

Just ask him not to do it again, sorted.

ilovewelshrarebit123 · 08/02/2017 22:07

Crikey, you want him sacked for that! I agree it's disgusting but maybe he was desperate but trying to get him sacked is mean Sad

happypoobum · 08/02/2017 22:08

I think it would be really mean of you to report him - he is probably just desperate for a wee. He probably doesn't have time to drive to the next village, where the public loos may or may not be open, and then drive back, and then continue with his round.

There are dozens of professions where this is an issue. Your garden must be full of piss anyway from wildlife, so his can't make any difference.

AFAIK it isn't flashing when you urinate in a public place, the penis has to be erect Blush

If you really have the pearl clutching horrors over it, speak to the guy and ask him to piss elsewhere. Please don't report him. Karma will come back and bite you on the bum,

dustarr73 · 08/02/2017 22:08

I dont know why people are giving the op a hard time.If the postie hadnt got his bits out and weed in her garden, there would be nothing to say to him.

Hes an adult,he pisses in someones garden he has to face the consequences when hes caught.

Blossomdeary · 08/02/2017 22:08

Villages don't have public loos - nor do many towns now. The poor guy needed a piss - he didn't want to wave it around in the street. I do not think you should do anything at all about this.

buttercup54321 · 08/02/2017 22:09

Are you sure you wont get into trouble for filming people without them knowing? I bet all the neighbourhood cats and all manner of wildlife pee on your grass too. He was probably desperate. If you get him sacked then you are vindictive and maybe need to get a grip?

childmaintenanceserviceinquiry · 08/02/2017 22:09

From your description it sounds as if he was peeing right opposite your door. And for an adult male to pee on a wall - not nice. So fair enough he needs a pee, not Ok that he doesnt have time on the round to stop off and pee but it sounds as if he really didnt care where he went and that is the not nice bit. I would have a word - plenty of options suggested as to how you do this above. It will be interesting to see his reaction.

kali110 · 08/02/2017 22:09

I wouldn't report him.
Ites he could have gone to the next village, and then when he's late with the deliveries what then?
Disciplinary either way?
Love all the posts about using public toilets! Where do you live? Only public toilets i see actually open now are in shopping centres!
