Sainsburys is posh, isn't it?

I mean it is toward the upper end of Poshness isn't it? Coming after Harrods food hall, Selfridge food hall, Booths, M&S, Waitrose then Sainsbury's.

Artisan shops and veg box deliveries probably come between M&S and Waitrose I reckon?

It's definitely posher than Tesco.

I don't know why I've done this op actually. I am so not unreasonable.

I've always considered Tesco and Sainsbury to be equal, although I have noticed Sainsbury to be getting more expensive recently.

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 05/02/2017 19:14

I would say it is neither posh or unposh but in the middle. So

Waitrose
M&S
Sainsbury's/Tesco
Asda
Aldi/Lidl

Sparklingbrook · 05/02/2017 19:14

I always think of this when I hear Farmers Market

Morrisons in Catcliffe (Sheffield) had ladies cashmere cardigans and jumpers for £40 the other day!

ghostyslovesheets · 05/02/2017 19:15

I agree with Morrisions being under rated - their More Card is really good - I get at least 1 £5 voucher a month sometimes more

Nice food, good choice - especially fresh - and cheap

I am baffled as to how any super market can be seen as posh? It's a shop - selling food!

flowersandfoxes · 05/02/2017 19:15

Sainsbury's is not posh in anyway. It is however nicer than Tesco.

StubbleTurnips · 05/02/2017 19:15

Im my head it's:

Farmers markets / artisan delis
Booths
M&S / Waitrose
Sainsbos
Morrisons
Tesco
Aldi
Lidl
Asda

foxyloxy78 · 05/02/2017 19:16

Not posh.

SherlockPotter · 05/02/2017 19:16

Tesco is one of my favourite shops... Sainsbury's is okay but it's slightly more expensive, their basic range is naff too.

SainsburysShopper · 05/02/2017 19:16

Just seeing if my name turned into a link!

RJnomore1 · 05/02/2017 19:16

Based on what we have available locally.

Iceland/farm foods
Aldi
Lidl
Asda
Tesco
Sainsburys
M and S
Local farm shops and dobbies food hall

Trifleorbust · 05/02/2017 19:16

Whole Foods
Waitrose/Ocado
M&S
Sainsburys
Morrisons
Tesco
Aldi
Lidl
Asda

I hate Asda. The fruit and veg is always on the cusp.

dudsville · 05/02/2017 19:17

What makes a supermarket posh? It's closer to Lidl than Harrods surely.

The80sweregreat · 05/02/2017 19:17

Asda has been linking a while! Its a conspiracy.

flowersandfoxes · 05/02/2017 19:17

More posh people shop at Aldi than Sainsbury's I'd say. Aldi is always rammed with Range Rovers & Barbours.

RJnomore1 · 05/02/2017 19:18

Oh forgot Morrisons it's somewhere between Tesco and sainsburys

SainsburysShopper · 05/02/2017 19:18

It didn't and I don't shop at Sainsbury's as it it too posh Wink

Ollycat · 05/02/2017 19:19

Not posh here. We have a massive Sainsbury's and a minuscule Waitrose- everyone goes to Waitrose.

I rank Sainsbury's as being on par with Asda and Tesco.

flowersandfoxes · 05/02/2017 19:19

Oh and there's a big difference between posh and just have a lot of money - the lot of money people probably don't shop at Aldi.

northernlites · 05/02/2017 19:19

I wouldn't consider Booths posh, yes they have artisan foods but lots of basics and average food too.
it's not full of posh people, just everyday locals at my local Booths

flowersandfoxes · 05/02/2017 19:19

Come on, ASDA really is bargain basement.

flowersandfoxes · 05/02/2017 19:20

What on earth is Booths?

HoneyDragon · 05/02/2017 19:20

I'd put the refitted Morrisons above Tesco and the other Morrisons below.

This link thing is pissing me off.

Re. price, Sainsburys, Tesco and Asda have (or had until recently at least) a price match thing going on. I think they're all about the same price these days.
The main thing that makes a difference to price is the size of the shop i.e. whether you have enough choice to be able to choose the cheaper options.

Grotbagsstinkyarmpits · 05/02/2017 19:21

Waitrose M&S Sainsbury's

Morrison's
Tesco
Asda/Lidl/Aldi

Not a fan of the shopping experience and often the quality of own brand, fresh food in the second list, above. The lights, layout and taste of own brand fresh items are not as good a quality, in my humble opinion.
