Sainsburys is posh, isn't it?

I mean it is toward the upper end of Poshness isn't it? Coming after Harrods food hall, Selfridge food hall, Booths, M&S, Waitrose then Sainsbury's.

Artisan shops and veg box deliveries probably come between M&S and Waitrose I reckon?

It's definitely posher than Tesco.

I don't know why I've done this op actually. I am so not unreasonable.

Why are Sains bury's and As da turning into links?

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 05/02/2017 19:06

I'd say it's -

Farmers' market
M&S
Waitrose
Sainsbury's
Aldi if you post a thread saying "I'm going to ALDI, what should I buy?"
Tesco/Asda
Morrisons
ALDI if you go to ALDI without posting a thread, just to buy your groceries
LIDL

Rooiboscz · 05/02/2017 19:06

My local Lidl is a dump. Really grubby, rubbish stock. Definitely at the bottom of the scale.

CombineBananaFister · 05/02/2017 19:06

I don't think the actual places are posh/not posh anymore as Aldi and Lidl have become fashionable so its all classless now if you ask me Grin except for Harrods but even then there's not much difference in price between their sandwiches and Pret - real eye opener when I went for a trip to London from a Northern city recently and the artisan coffee was CHEAPER ! think my hometown has got above its station

Grilledaubergines · 05/02/2017 19:06

compared to Tesco, Asda and Morrisons, Sainsburys is posh. it is here anyway.

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/02/2017 19:06

FourEyes
That's interesting that you put Farmer's markets as the poshest, I would too, but on budgeting threads people always say that shopping at them is really cheap and good quality, you can buy most of a cow and a pound of carrots for £2.50.
I think they're raking in money, probably buying the carrots from Aldi, chucking a load of soil over them and charging three times the price.

Fibbertigibbet · 05/02/2017 19:07

Not posh, but sliiiiiightly posher than Tesco.

CactusFred · 05/02/2017 19:07

People who are rating Tesco over Morrisons obviously have never been to any Tesco around by me! Morrisons is vastly superior.

I have my delivery from Morrisons too and never a stupid replacement or items missing unlike Tesco and Sainsbury's.

TroysMammy · 05/02/2017 19:07

I'd say posher than Tesco. I do my main shop at Lidl but if I want things they don't stock, eg capers and raw tiger prawns I go to Sainsburys. To be honest Sainsburys in the town centre has a petrol station whereas Tesco doesn't. Tesco is near the bus station.

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/02/2017 19:08

I went to Harrods foodhall once, didn't buy anything but I did accidentally steal a bottle of water.

The80sweregreat · 05/02/2017 19:08

My sainsbury is pretty normal. More older folk seem to go.
Waitrose is close to a council estate on a small retail park.

Lidl is fairly new and very busy( car park full of new cars! )
Tesco is big, has all types in it. Is having a refit.
Asda is nice, but too small.
Ditto morrison.
Aldi is too far away. I like a farmers shop but only go when i visit a posh friend , is very expensive. She buys. I dont, i just marvel at a fiver for a small cake.
Its amixed bag here!!

FourEyesGood · 05/02/2017 19:08

OvariesBeforeBrovaries Yes, I agree with your amendments. Grin

LapinR0se · 05/02/2017 19:09

Fortunes
Harrods
Waitrose/M&S
Sainsbury's
ALDI/LIDL
Tesco
Asda
Iceland

LapinR0se · 05/02/2017 19:09

Fortnum's. Not Fortunes Hmm

dementedma · 05/02/2017 19:11

Morrison's is under rated on MN. Has some great stuff, good prices, childrens clothes are cute, decent wine selection.
Way better than Track or Asda.
I utterly hate Tescos and would rank it the worst of the lot!

SherlockPotter · 05/02/2017 19:11

If Sainsbury's was posh... I wouldn't be shopping there.

I can't afford to shop there so is definitely in the posh category for me.

Sainsburys
Asda
Tesco

Just testing!!!

user1475253854 · 05/02/2017 19:12

To quote Jeremy Hardy: I like Sainsbury's, they keep the riff-raff out of Waitrose.

CombineBananaFister · 05/02/2017 19:12

Tesco hater here too. Big, vast, windowless and no clocks like a Vegas casino trying to confuse you into gambling more money - maybe the same principle hah!

Ankleswingers · 05/02/2017 19:12

Can't stand Sainsbury's anymore. I haven't used them since I had an online shop delivered and the raw whole chicken I ordered had been split in the packaging it was in.

Cue raw chicken juice all over my shopping and the delivery drivers hands were dripping with it.

I was horrified. Never mind the fact that I'm emetephobic so that was tripled tenfold.

They wouldn't even give me a refund.

Would never use them again.

AQuietMind · 05/02/2017 19:13

Sorry HD but this has intrigued me, why are some stores coming up as links?

That is the question!!!

foodiefil · 05/02/2017 19:13

Used to be but now it's a bit 'out in the cold' - expensive but not that great. If you want higher end you'll probably go to Waitrose/M&S and then you might do your majority at Tesco, Asda or the cheap supermarkets but I think Sainsbos is a bit random now. Expensive but normal.

I'm an Aldi shopper and get some nice/luxury stuff at Waitrose 😜
