I can vaguely remember similar threads but have done a search and can't find a bedroom one. We are swapping rooms in our upstairs to even out the other 2 rooms so moving from front to back of house. Just being nosy looking for inspiration if anyone is willing to post? I can post our current one once DS is asleep Smile

Rulex, where did you buy the chest of drawers from?

BalloonSlayer · 05/02/2017 09:21

I agree about the cushions. I have this . . . thing . . . where I feel you should be able to collapse into bed at a moment's notice (eg if I have stripped the bed I have to remake it immediately) so to me the cushions are "in the way." Although they do look lovely. I have been thinking of ways of making our bedroom look nicer after reading this thread and have had the following conversation with myself:

How about cushions?
No!
But see how nice they look!
Don't care! Said NO! Cushions BAD.

dogsdieinhotcars · 05/02/2017 09:46

Crumbs1 made me laugh, so must be a joke! The follow up about hotel etc is just fun.

GinAndOnIt · 05/02/2017 09:47

Yes, exactly balloon! I also like it looking like I've just leisurely got up from reading my book in bed which I have

I do think some houses suit the very pristine look of perfectly made beds with accessories though, as seen on lots of these photos. I always appreciate it when I see it, but if I try and do it on my own bed, it makes me want to dive on the bed and ruffle it all up again.

Here's ours... the furniture is a bit quaint old fashioned but I love how bright our room is, even in the winter. There's also a double wardrobe across from the bed.
Some of these rooms are gorgeous!!

I'm so jealous of everybody's lovely, big windows.

FlamingoFling · 05/02/2017 10:53

thalia the walls were painted that colour when we moved in - they're too dark for me. I'd happily live with shades of grey but then I'd have to find somewhere else for the sofa....

The chandelier is very rattley - especially when tween DD1 bedroom is directly above and whilst the windows are beautiful and one of my favourite things in the house they're about 12' high and very draughty.

CaraAspen · 05/02/2017 11:52

ThaliaLuxurySpa

Cara,

Am a bit obsessed with stone fireplaces; 1600s originals sound right up my street...any pics for me to gaze at?

100% agree with your opinion re character/ imperfections...mismatched and quirky, with a story to tell, makes me happy smile

This thread's fascinating, OP. Thanks to everyone who's including their pics...I'm getting all sorts of inspiration"

Masses of pics of those fireplaces on my iPhone but cannot do links. Have given up trying to work it out and yes, I have googled...

EnormousTiger · 05/02/2017 11:55

Yes I like fireplaces too. Our house is mock old so although it has some stonework from a very old house, wooden sash windows, high ceilings, mouldings, chandaliers it is basically fake and upstairs has no fireplaces unfortunately. My oldest son at the end of last year bought an old little house and it has lovely fireplaces still, even one in each bed room.

CaraAspen · 05/02/2017 12:00

There is a also a small, plain stone one in one of the guest rooms but it is very shallow and I hardly remember it's there. There must be another one in an adjacent room given the number of visible chimney pots but it is walled in, I think.

tobedo · 05/02/2017 12:02

KatyWT, you have Jesus' shadow above your chest of drawers.

tobedo · 05/02/2017 12:03

All those people without bedside tables, where do you put your "stuff?"

theotherendofthesockportal · 05/02/2017 12:26

My bedroom is tiny compared to these! But here it is, well my side DH lives like a pig so I've excluded the sty side

EnormousTiger · 05/02/2017 12:27

I have a bed side small unit on each side of the two zipped and linked beds with drawers too. I try to have very little on it however - pint of water for a drink in the night, a very simple clock (I don't have electronics in the bed room at all other than that) and the landline phone - that's it. I don't like stuff. Everything has to go away in this house although we don't always manage it.

firsttimemum15 · 05/02/2017 12:39

Havent read the full thread what was crumbs saying

dillite · 05/02/2017 12:48

There are some gorgeous bedrooms here- they are all so adult-y and big! I am well jell of all the big bedrooms and people who have dressing rooms. Love the dark ones but then I also think that all the light coloured ones are gorgeous- I would love to have a room in light colours, but when it comes to doing it, I always choose colour and mismatched things. Because I am not a light and bright person.

Anyway, this is my bedroom- I rent so there's a limited amount of stuff that I could do to it- like there was no way in hell that I was going to change the nasty cardboard doors or wiring to allow for modern light fittings. I like spray paint as you can see! On the other side of the room there is a table with my craft area- it had to move there from the craft room as that room is unusable in winter due to being freezing. I also share with DD so there are soft toys and her books there.

Apart from the weird behaviour on here, I think its lovely that posters have described the stories and reasons for their rooms, EagleRay that picture must mean so much to you and WeeKelpie your room is lovely despite everything you have gone through (in your marriage and this thread!!)

We have a landline in the bedroom. I remember DH hammering the extension cable up the stairs before the carpet was laid....about 20 years ago.

KathArtic · 05/02/2017 14:58

This is mine.....

Kelsar the chest of drawers are from Achica. They sometimes have some interesting furniture pieces on their site.

Kelsar · 05/02/2017 20:43

Rulex thank you I will have a look !
