...to see what your (master) bedroom looks like?

I can vaguely remember similar threads but have done a search and can't find a bedroom one. We are swapping rooms in our upstairs to even out the other 2 rooms so moving from front to back of house. Just being nosy looking for inspiration if anyone is willing to post? I can post our current one once DS is asleep Smile

Off we never close our curtains either! It took us a year to get any put up in the first place.

NotMyPenguin · 04/02/2017 10:05

If the rug in nwbmum's photo is the one I was looking at, it's this: www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/textiles-rugs/rugs/stockholm-rug-flatwoven-handmade-net-pattern-yellow-art-10229035/

FurryLittleTwerp · 04/02/2017 10:05

Dowser all storage gets filled immediately & piles of books, magazines & paperwork start again on the floor / on top. More storage is not the answer, I'm afraid.

Some rooms are completely unusable - at least we have a functioning bedroom!

TattiePants · 04/02/2017 10:28

This is timely as I'm in the middle of redecorating my spare bedroom. This is my room - I decorated last year but haven't had time to look for artwork yet so the walls are a bit bare (ignore all the stuff from the spare room stashed under the bed, on top of the wardrobes etc). DD asked what I was doing so wanted me to take a picture of her room too!

Thank you. Yes it's that Ikea rug. It's a lovely rug. Soft underfoot and brightens up a room. Definitely recommend it!

Weekelpie love that patternGrin

GinAndOnIt · 04/02/2017 10:41

Did the OP actually ever come back? Or have we all been showing our bedrooms to help and she's buggered off Grin

FlamingoFling · 04/02/2017 10:43

Im using a name change but this is mine. Only moved in a couple of months ago so still needs to be sorted.

I love the underlying features but none of the furniture from my old house fits properly and it's been a bit of a dumping ground whilst the rest of the house is sorted.

This is mine...very small room but think I've done alright with the space available.

This is a better picture...Because it shows the light fitting I adore Smile

Can't decide whether to leave the canvas above the bed down or re-hang it...

elevenswan · 04/02/2017 11:13

I'm in rented so I can't do much of what I want to the room, also the house came unfurnished but the landlord asked to keep his big fuckoff ugly pine bed in there. So my lovely white wrought iron bed is in the smaller spare room Sad

Flamingo has a sofa too which I think looks good. May be I should consider bringing my son's sofa up from the garage. I just never know what will look good. I just don't have that eye or enough interest. When i got a local funiture shop to help buy some years ago they suggested the chairs and glass table (I am not very keen on the table and don't really use it but there it stays) and the units by the bed they suggested were so awful and modern I ended up returning them and using my daughter's old ones.

More nice wood floors above.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 04/02/2017 11:44

Flamingo,

I now have a bad case of beautiful chandelier, room proportions, shutter and sofa envy!

That wall colour's gorgeous; is it custom-mixed?

flamingo love the windows of the room

WeeKelpie · 04/02/2017 13:40

Flamingo I could easily live in your room. I love your shutters and I considered shutters for my ceiling to floor windows when I was doing my room but couldn't with the windows I have. Your sofa is also lovely, in fact I thought it was mine but the one I have has different legs. I didn't put it in the pictures because I have family pics on the wall behind it.

Your bedroom is beautiful

windowdisplay44 · 04/02/2017 13:45

Ok - first one is my room, second one is spare room. After a damp problem necessitated a refurb, the spare room is probably now nicer than my actual room. We have a lot of guests. Grin

I think a beautiful room is a room with character and a room that has evolved. Rustic, pared-down artefacts such as those in one of my favourite shops can be used in sitting rooms or anywhere actually:

www.athomer.co.uk/homer-edinburgh/

I love this because of its simplicity and its personality:

This is Danish wabi sabi and it is just breathtakingly gorgeous:

Elle Decoration is my inspiration. I also love books - and they are everywhere - and pebbles and white shells from Atlantic beaches. As for art, it is always represented but I have never bought art for an empty wall! The art is chosen and a place is found. I have masses of prints and art cards and old framed reproductions. Our house has two wonderful big stone fireplaces, both 17th Century, and the top edges are topped by curated displays of art cards, an ancient nail the builder found on an original slate, a plain dala horse etc.

The boutique hotel room look I can get at a boutique hotel, I guess!

windowdisplay44 · 04/02/2017 15:14

Before I name change back, this was our room in a tiny rented Cornish cob cottage last summer (moved out due to an insurance claim)

It was gorgeous living so simply and I chucked so much stuff out once we moved back into our normal house. The walls and ceiling were all painted in Dulux timeless and it was very relaxing to be in. Smile

I've got bedroom envy now. Mines horrid. Started decorating and run out of time/ money/ inspiration. It feels like student digs at the moment.

Maybe these pics might inspire me to get it finished!

orangeterry · 04/02/2017 15:42

Our room , bit messy Shock

Ok so this is our undecorated master bedroom. The first photo was the old bathroom and became the dressing room which leads you through to the new extension and master bedroom and en-suite. Will probably bed the last room we decorate but I already have loads of plans in my head

This is ours. I'd never noticed how blank the wall above the headboard seems. Somehow it doesn't look so empty in rl. Am I the only one with a very elderly landline in their room?!

Liftthatup I have a landline in my bedroom in the UK but I keep unplugged.

I like the empty wall above your headboard.

BalloonSlayer · 04/02/2017 18:12

I have a landline!

Landlines are important - if you call 999 from one that's all you need to do, they know where you are and can come to your aid. Plus they work in a power cut. If you have a long power outage and your mobile runs out of juice you're stuffed. But the landline will still work. (Not as far-fetched as it sounds, some people we know had this happen, the power was only on for 2 hours a day and everyone was frantically charging phones )
