Gulp. Am I pregnant? And Too Old?

I know, I know, you don't know if I am, but I"m in a right panic and just want to get some views on one particular point...I've just turned 45, and this will be my fourth baby.

We had sex when I thought I'd finished ovulating, that was just over a week ago. I woke this morning with a really strange, sour taste in my mouth that has lingered all day, along with a slight feeling of sickness (I didn't get MS as a rule with other babies). Eating makes the sicky feeling a bit better,

We both would be shocked but happy about another baby, but I get the feeling I'd be judged as I'm 45 (husband even older!)

Any great, uplifting stories of being pregnant at 45 or older? What about that sour taste in mouth...anyone had that as an early symptom?

I"m testing tomorrow, but might be too early, but I can't think about anything else at the moment.

I"ve name changed for this as I know a few folk on here in real life!

TwattyCatty · 23/10/2017 18:52

How can you get to 45 and think you can have pregnancy symptoms a week after ovulation and sex? Confused

StickThatInYourPipe · 23/10/2017 18:53

And Wondermumof looks like a positive to me! It looks like there is colour. Congratulations!! Flowers

MyBrilliantDisguise · 23/10/2017 18:55

Has that baby been born yet?!

GilligansKitchenIsland · 23/10/2017 18:57

thekindofwindows (great username btw!)
People judge all kinds of things - particularly when it comes to pregnancy and childrearing, as I'm sure you know. So invariably there'll be someone who judges your pregnancy; there's always something that some busybody finds to point a finger at! But I'm a midwife and it's really really not uncommon these days to be having babies well into your 40s. I wouldn't bat an eyelid if you came into my clinic Smile. But I might put you on a little extra monitoring - a couple additional scans, maybe get the onceover from an obstetrician - just to make sure it's all ticking along as it should. So you may get some of that, but it's just for safety, there's no judgement involved.
Hope you get the result you want! Flowers

Wondermumof that reply was to you :)

ReasonableLlama · 23/10/2017 19:09

I thought this was OP coming back to announce the birth

Hollowgrams · 23/10/2017 19:12

Apparently you can do a diy test. If you wee into a pot and stir some sugar in and it doesn't dissolve but forms clumps instead that's a yes. There's on you can do with vinegar too and bleach. Might be just an old wives tale but if you can't wait to find out maybe give it a whirl. Grin

NonnoMum · 23/10/2017 19:21

Boringnamechange1 · 23/10/2017 19:45

Arghhh read the first post and noticed the date so ead through thinking the thread was active as the OP was announcing the birth.

LostMyBroomstick · 23/10/2017 19:49

Hi,

I'd do a test but I think it is too early to be having symptoms of pregnancy.

I'm 45 too and haven't had a period for 4 months now so I am wondering if it is some pre-menopausal thing going on or that I am just stressed/tired with work/life. I'm going to the GP in a couple of weeks for hormonal tests but I have no other symptoms - just no period. Always been clockwork and regular.
It may just be your age and hormones starting to go a bit weird like when we were young girls (not that long ago)!

If not, congratulations! My mum was 40 when she had me.

LostMyBroomstick · 23/10/2017 19:51

Arrrghh - I didn't read 2nd page! Wonder if baby made an appearance? I should really check the date on these posts!

Crunchymum · 23/10/2017 19:54

The OP never confirmed she was pregnant, did she?

If she was baby would be a month or so old now? Give or take.

C0untDucku1a · 23/10/2017 19:58

Yes definitely positive!

WillowKnicks · 23/10/2017 19:59

Yes wondermum, looks positive.
