Gulp. Am I pregnant? And Too Old?

I know, I know, you don't know if I am, but I"m in a right panic and just want to get some views on one particular point...I've just turned 45, and this will be my fourth baby.

We had sex when I thought I'd finished ovulating, that was just over a week ago. I woke this morning with a really strange, sour taste in my mouth that has lingered all day, along with a slight feeling of sickness (I didn't get MS as a rule with other babies). Eating makes the sicky feeling a bit better,

We both would be shocked but happy about another baby, but I get the feeling I'd be judged as I'm 45 (husband even older!)

Any great, uplifting stories of being pregnant at 45 or older? What about that sour taste in mouth...anyone had that as an early symptom?

I"m testing tomorrow, but might be too early, but I can't think about anything else at the moment.

I"ve name changed for this as I know a few folk on here in real life!

I knew within a week of conceiving that i was pregnant, all 4 times!! Sometimes you just know.

noschooll4mee · 14/01/2017 22:08

Good luck op 🍀 can't wait for an update

Giddyaunt18 · 14/01/2017 22:14

. I didn't get change in taste, my first symptoms were enlarged nipples and a very sure feeling that I was pregnant, then seeing lots. If you're body has allowed you to become pregnant, you're not too old. I'm the same age, I wouldn't plan more but if it happened I would go with it.Good luck , whatever the outcome.

Giddyaunt18 · 14/01/2017 22:14

weeing not seeing lol

user1484174552 · 14/01/2017 22:27

Wouldn't be for me, but each to their own Smile

As someone said, if you have conceived naturally, then it seems it is meant to be. I feel 45 is a BIT old if you want my honest opinion. And for many reasons that I wouldn't go into as I don't want to offend anyone.

I think probably 40 is the top age anyone should have a baby. Again, just my opinion. Smile

If you are happy with it, then I am pleased for you. And good luck to you. Smile

Congratulations!

Definitely YABU to worry about being judged :) anyone who judges you is the one with the problem, not you. You'll be the one with another beautiful DC.

Amazing how women can get judged for having DC too early, too late, too whatever. Who cares. Enjoy!

guggenheim · 14/01/2017 22:34

I thought I was going through the menopause & in fact was preganant. I had my lovely surprise dd at 45. She's beautiful.

feellikeanalien · 14/01/2017 22:50

I had my only DD at 45. Had been trying for a while and had several miscarriages.

I'm with the pp who said that if you fall pregnant naturally at that age then you're not too old.

We did actually want another one after that but it wasn't to be.

If you are pregnant then congratulations and enjoy it.

Oh and I've never felt judged by any of the other mums at school and most of them are in their 30s/40s.

squoosh · 14/01/2017 22:53

My grandmother had my mother at 46. Becoming a first time mother in your mid forties is quite a recent thing but women having their fourth/fifth/twelfth baby in their mid to late forties is a tale as old as time.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 14/01/2017 23:03

I was the opposite end of the scale. Fell pregnant with DD at 19 so everyone judged me too young. Anyone judging can and should be told to stick their judgement far up their arse!

I didn't notice a metalic taste but I didn't even know that was a symptom until now so I may have done and not noticed.

Good luck. Flowers

haveacupoftea · 14/01/2017 23:18

You're definitely not too old! I wouldn't bat an eyelid at someone your age having a baby.

MimsyBorogroves · 14/01/2017 23:19

Good luck, OP.

StripeyMonkey1 · 14/01/2017 23:21

I'd judge you as physically young, fit and fertile and lucky to still be able to have a child at 45. I think that is great!

Good luck with the testing OP.

Mooey89 · 15/01/2017 07:42

No judgement at all, but it is too early to test... wait another few days
Good luck!!!

I'm with the people saying even if you did poas it wouldn't be positive yet as way too soon. I'd leave it at least another week to get an accurate result.
Definitely not too old though, good luck!
