Gulp. Am I pregnant? And Too Old?

I know, I know, you don't know if I am, but I"m in a right panic and just want to get some views on one particular point...I've just turned 45, and this will be my fourth baby.

We had sex when I thought I'd finished ovulating, that was just over a week ago. I woke this morning with a really strange, sour taste in my mouth that has lingered all day, along with a slight feeling of sickness (I didn't get MS as a rule with other babies). Eating makes the sicky feeling a bit better,

We both would be shocked but happy about another baby, but I get the feeling I'd be judged as I'm 45 (husband even older!)

Any great, uplifting stories of being pregnant at 45 or older? What about that sour taste in mouth...anyone had that as an early symptom?

I"m testing tomorrow, but might be too early, but I can't think about anything else at the moment.

I"ve name changed for this as I know a few folk on here in real life!

Wishing you the result you hope for and shamelessly place marking too ✨

ObviousChild · 19/01/2017 14:06

Eek! This is exciting. It's like an episode of Sunset Beach when it takes ages to get to the bottom of anything. Good luck OP - for what it's worth, I think you are pregnant Smile. Hope you get the answer you want

Fedupofallthemud · 19/01/2017 14:15

I had v early symptoms with my 4th, I knew I was pg about 9 or 10 days after conception. Mainly being up all night peeing!!

LostInMess · 19/01/2017 14:26

Hi OP,

I had my last at 42 - he's 15 months now and an absolute joy. His siblings adore him and although I felt judged here and there whilst pregnant, I have had nothing but positive reactions since he turned up.

If you are pg, though, be prepared for the medical profession to treat you like you're a relic. Despite 3 previous straightforward pregnancies, 2 home births, 1 MLU birth, they still treated me as if I was high risk. This did not equate to better care just frequent lectures that I'd have to be induced if he was overdue (others were all late so I was very resistant to this). DC4 was a MLU water birth and very straightforward as was the pg.

I do find it hard but that has nothing to do with my age and everything to do with the no/ages & stages of my children.

Good luck!

Last time I was pg, the earliest sign that I noticed was that a week- 10 days after ovulating I still had EWCM, whereas normally when my period is coming around everything gets more watery.
Also if you're in the habit of checking your cervix (I was) then it rises high, closes and firms up if you're pg and if af is arriving then it would be low and a bit open.
These were way before any changes to boobs or ms for me.

wandering in for a mosey around .......

livingthegoodlife · 19/01/2017 14:48

Sounds like suspiciously like early pregnancy to me... Happy pee-ing!

Stormwhale · 19/01/2017 14:52

Good luck op!

Jackiebrambles · 19/01/2017 14:52

I too am checking in. When I was first pregnant i felt 'period-y' for daaaays. I kept thinking, where the fuck is my period??

Then I POAS....

Good luck OP!

LagunaBubbles · 19/01/2017 14:57

I actually got a positive on a test at 9 dpo (I was charting) which really amazed me. Good luck!

MoreProseccoNow · 19/01/2017 15:09

I'm 44 & my cycles are all over the place. I get bloating & sore boobs, which I didn't get when I was younger.

Definitely POAS 1st thing tomorrow!

I had my 2nd at 41, after 2 m/c, am afraid to say the m/c rate in your 40's is high (about 50%).

Hope it works out the way you want it to.

KevinMcCallister · 19/01/2017 15:27

My pre-period symptoms are now much more pregnancy like now I am older. Good luck x

noschooll4mee · 19/01/2017 18:27

Been lurking around here....popped back hoping for good news 💐💐 Hope get a good result tomorrow OP

DontTouchTheMoustache · 19/01/2017 18:32

Fingers crossed for you op. You probably already know but best time to take the test in the early stages is first thing in the morning (first wee of the day) as the wee is more concentrated so more likely to pick up on the pregnancy hormone

4men1lady · 19/01/2017 18:43

Placemarking? Me? Noooooo!!

FurryLittleTwerp · 19/01/2017 18:51

I'd leave it a few days if you can bear it to allow pregnancy hormones to increase a bit more, assuming you are pregnant sounds like it .

Monday would be good - first wee of the morning is best as more concentrated.

TaggieRR · 19/01/2017 19:02

Hope you get the result you want OP. You're definitely not too old!

RunWalkCrawlbutMove · 19/01/2017 19:43

I know I am meant to say that I hope you get the result you want but I am hoping you are pregnant FlowersStarFlowersStarFlowersStarGrin

NanooCov · 20/01/2017 09:05

Peed on any sticks lately OP?

SparklyFuckingBusinessFairy · 20/01/2017 09:58

I've said this before, but - sore boobs, feeling heavy and crampy and just period-y, grumpy, mood swings.

is it PMT? is it pregnancy? is it perimenopause? WHO KNOWS? that's the fun guessing game of being a woman.....

why on earth couldn't we have evolved to have very different symptoms for each of the above, eh?

sadie9 · 20/01/2017 11:16

I agree, the early signs of peri-menopause are the exact same, the symptoms of bad taste in mouth, differences in weeing, different twinges here and there, also nausea and feeling off are all part of it.
I don't know how many pregnancy tests I used up leading up to my menopause...

streetch · 21/01/2017 18:35

Any update op? I hope you got the result you wanted!

billybigballs · 21/01/2017 20:44

Crossing my fingers op, I hope you get the result you would like.

MrsDc7 · 21/01/2017 20:50

TheOriginalAngel · 21/01/2017 20:58
