Gulp. Am I pregnant? And Too Old?

I know, I know, you don't know if I am, but I"m in a right panic and just want to get some views on one particular point...I've just turned 45, and this will be my fourth baby.

We had sex when I thought I'd finished ovulating, that was just over a week ago. I woke this morning with a really strange, sour taste in my mouth that has lingered all day, along with a slight feeling of sickness (I didn't get MS as a rule with other babies). Eating makes the sicky feeling a bit better,

We both would be shocked but happy about another baby, but I get the feeling I'd be judged as I'm 45 (husband even older!)

Any great, uplifting stories of being pregnant at 45 or older? What about that sour taste in mouth...anyone had that as an early symptom?

I"m testing tomorrow, but might be too early, but I can't think about anything else at the moment.

I"ve name changed for this as I know a few folk on here in real life!

Lemony I wish I did! The earliest I can get one is tomorrow morning.

I won't judge you, but I will be jealous of you Smile

QODRestYeMerryGentlemen · 14/01/2017 19:57

👶

squoosh · 14/01/2017 19:58

Best of luck to you OP. Don't give any thought to people who might judge you for being a 45 year old with a sex life. You harlot.

trollspoopglitter · 14/01/2017 19:59

I wouldn't judge but I'd worry for you, if I'm being completely honest... There is a big difference between getting pregnant and staying pregnant at that age Sad

Thekindofwindowsfaceslookinat · 14/01/2017 19:59

Ahh whippet Smile you won't if I am pregnant and I go on to look like about seven people strapped together with clothes which is my usual pregnancy look.

Love a happy POS thread - good luck x

Aoibhe · 14/01/2017 20:02

Surely you wouldn't have symptoms already, if you only ovulated a week ago? Implantation would be occurring around now.

Fingers crossed for your desired outcome 💐

Hadalifeonce · 14/01/2017 20:05

Don't worry, lots of women are having babies later. My first at 42 2nd at 45. One SIL was 44, the other was 49.

Cagliostro · 14/01/2017 20:05

Aw, I hope you get the result you want :) :)
I don't think most people bat an eye about age anymore TBH :)

Thekindofwindowsfaceslookinat · 14/01/2017 20:07

Aoibhe we had sex just over a week ago, I thought I'd finished ovulating by then, but it's possible that I hadn't. I know it's v early for symptoms though.

trolls I know you're right. I'm no stranger to what can happen, sadly.

thanks again everyone.

I had DD1 at the age of 42 and DD2 at 43, both healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. I'm hoping to have another so will be 44/45.

The only comments I've received about my age are other women asking me how I did it because they keep reading your fertility falls off a cliff at 35. I've received nothing but positive, well done you type comments.

Hope your outcome is whatever you want it to be. x

skankingpiglet · 14/01/2017 20:20

To those wondering about getting symptoms early, although I didn't notice them my cat certainly did and was the reason I tested several days before my missed period. She was right! She'd never prompted me to test before or since, but she went all weird on me and the only time she'd ever behaved like that before was when I'd been preggo with DD1. Something must have changed and been noticeable to her...

Good luck OP, I hope you get the result you're after. I don't think 45 is too old at all Smile

RubyWinterstorm · 14/01/2017 20:22

POAS!

FatOldBag · 14/01/2017 20:25

I think it's probably too early for a test. I felt pregnant with dd for 4-5 days before I got a positive on a test. Really about 12dpo is about the time a test might give an accurate answer, if not 14dpo. Good luck though. Now you've realised you'd both really like to be pg again, you could always get on the folic acid and have another try next month, if it turns out you're not this time though. I have my fingers crossed for you, please update us when you have some news! x

pishedoff · 14/01/2017 20:26

I had symptoms straight away Shock, hope you get the result you want!!

Ps... you've made me want another Envy

EweAreHere · 14/01/2017 20:28

If you are fit and healthy and capable of providing the child with love and the things it will need to thrive, then who cares what anyone else thinks?

Now go POAS. ;)

bunnylove99 · 14/01/2017 20:29

You are not too old. God bless, I hope you get a big blue line!! (Or whatever it is these days)

stonecircle · 14/01/2017 20:33

My godmother had her 5th child at 45. And her 6th at 47/48. All was well.

3luckystars · 14/01/2017 20:33

I had mad dreams pretty early and a hangovery taste in my mouth after a few days. I hope it's good news because I can sense your excitement. Very best wishes to you x

Motherfuckers · 14/01/2017 20:35

Menopause? Loads of weird symptoms can be attributed to peri menopause, I think the taste thing is quite common.

GlitteryFluff · 14/01/2017 20:37

Try to not think too much about it til you poas. Easier said than done I know!
It's just you may start loving the idea of being pregnant and you might not be and could be heartbroken.
Wishing you luck, whatever the result is.

TheWoodlander · 14/01/2017 20:38

My DM had her fifth at 44 - over 20yrs ago now, and it was considered 'old' then. Less so now I think.

I'm 46, and did toy with having a fourth for years. I would feel like you if I did conceive - scared but happy. Smile

Hope you get the result you want - you're not too old!

PacificDogwod · 14/01/2017 20:39

I had DS4 aged 44 - no problems whatsoever Smile

Good luck - I hope you get the result you are hoping for.

PenguinsandPebbles · 14/01/2017 20:40

Just to add I have a "psychic" cat too, he knows every single time and have been pregnant a fair bit, over the past few years, he is never wrong, and sticks to me like glue throughout the entire time I am sadly this is not as long as I would like fast approaching 40 so this really does give me a lot of hope!

As it's super early days don't forget to get an early test one, first response or Superdrug and boots both do an early one.

I get symptoms as early as you, much like you describe but even early ones don't show for me until 10dpo, but thankfully I have mystic-mog :)

Hope it turns out well for you Flowers
