AIBU to be so fed up and confused on pyjama issue

AIBU to be serverly annoyed with all the judgements on pyjama wearers?

Can someone explain to me what the big deal over wearing pyjamas is? I don't understand. I shower daily, I wash my clothes if they are used/unclean. When I get up I get dressed go about my day, come home and shower and put pyjama pants on until I get into bed. I take them off before bed as I only sleep in my underwear. If I don't have anything to do in the day I'll wake up and put the pyjama pants on because they are comfortable and warm. If I then realise I have to go out and make a run to the store I'll just go like this as I usually have my children (4m and 2y) with me and if not I'm trying to do the shop as fast as I can to get back to them as my DH is not the best with small children and often gets flustered. I am not choosing to wear them out of laziness, I choose to wear them out of comfort. They are clean, I am clean. Nothing inappropriate is exposed. So I don't understand how it is hurting anybody. I don't think it's fair to sit and judge people who chose to wear pyjamas and be comfortable and I don't understand why people are so offended by this?
I'm sure there are a few people that do wear them because they are lazy and slobbish but I don't think it's fair to judge all people that wear them this way.

Because it is lazy and slobbish and there is no need to wear them outside.
Buy yourself some trackies/yoga pants for bumming around in at home.

Human nature seems to be to judge, or there is a definite fashion for it anyway.

I am like you, can't see what everyone's getting excited about - I would object more to see people around and about under dressed rather than out in their pyjamas, but even then, I would only grumble under my breath as what someone decides to wear out in public is really none of my business.

PJ's are nightwear. Buy a pair of jogging bottoms for lazing about in. If you can make the effort to put on PJ pants then maybe put a proper pair on when you go shopping, because y'know... normal decency within society? Why dress like a tramp when you don't need to?

I think you are wearing pyjamas in the way that some people would wear tracksuit bottoms/sweat pants. And therefore nothing wrong with it at all.
People's issue (talking for myself) is when pyjamas are worn because somebody hasn't bothered to get dressed for the day out of what they wore in bed.

It can hardly be that confusing. Pyjamas are designed to be worn in bed. So although you have every right to wear them in whatever situation you want other people are also entitled to think wearing PJs out in public is a bit weird.

Did you not read what I said? I don't sleep in my pyjama pants. I use them as comfort wear. So they then would be the same as loungewear. Wearing pyjamas isn't dressing like a tramp. If I was wearing a bra or a crop top and a mini skirt then I would be dressing like a tramp.

I own yoga pants, they are comfortable but I don't always want to wear tight pants. And my pyjama pants are fuzzy and warm.

I'm constantly astonished that other people think it's their business what people wear. Like you say, you're decent and not unhygienic.

I've seen people clearly fresh from a run in Tescos. I'd rather someone in their PJs!

Yoga pants don't need to be tight, in fact they could be too small for you. Just get some leggings or joggers or something,

Only you know that you didn't sleep in them, and that you've showered. To everyone else it looks like you've rolled straight out of bed, and you've either got yesterday's knickers of no knickers on. Wink

It's odd but I do know what you mean as there is something about pyjamas. I had a c section in 2014 when I had my daughter and I have not been completely comfortable since. I frequently feel bloated and like trousers and jeans 'dig in.' Jogging bottoms and leggings are better but even they dig a bit. Jogging bottoms in particular either dig in right on your waist and press on your tummy button or they are too high and sit under your boobs - also uncomfortable! I don't know why pyjamas are different, but mine seem to kind of sit just below my tummy button.

I'm not saying I wear mine out and about, but if leggings and jogging bottoms were the same we'd wear them to bed?

But how is anyone supposed to know you havent worn them in bed etc
Just get a track suit for wearing outside.pjs are indoor clothes not for going out in

I will never be able to understand why anyone gives a shit about what someone else wears. I just don't get it at all.

Would I wear pyjamas to the shops? No. Does it affect me in any way whatsoever if someone else does? No. Therefore I don't care. People don't have any obligation to be aesthetically pleasing to me.

But people in the supermarket have no idea about what you wear to bed. They just see someone roaming the aisles in sleepwear.

I must admit I've been looking about but I'm yet to catch a sighting of the lesser spotted public pyjama wearer 😔
