AIBU to be so fed up and confused on pyjama issue

AIBU to be serverly annoyed with all the judgements on pyjama wearers?

Can someone explain to me what the big deal over wearing pyjamas is? I don't understand. I shower daily, I wash my clothes if they are used/unclean. When I get up I get dressed go about my day, come home and shower and put pyjama pants on until I get into bed. I take them off before bed as I only sleep in my underwear. If I don't have anything to do in the day I'll wake up and put the pyjama pants on because they are comfortable and warm. If I then realise I have to go out and make a run to the store I'll just go like this as I usually have my children (4m and 2y) with me and if not I'm trying to do the shop as fast as I can to get back to them as my DH is not the best with small children and often gets flustered. I am not choosing to wear them out of laziness, I choose to wear them out of comfort. They are clean, I am clean. Nothing inappropriate is exposed. So I don't understand how it is hurting anybody. I don't think it's fair to sit and judge people who chose to wear pyjamas and be comfortable and I don't understand why people are so offended by this?
I'm sure there are a few people that do wear them because they are lazy and slobbish but I don't think it's fair to judge all people that wear them this way.

@mycatwantstokillme1

Hypocritical indeed.

JustCallMeKate · 08/01/2017 20:02

Some men aren't as good with small children, that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with my DH.

Bullshit! What a fucking lame excuse for not parenting his own children.

As for the pyjama wearing in public it's disgusting. It's laziness at its best not putting on clothing that isn't nightwear. Do you also sport the pyjamas tucked into ugg boots look?

Chippednailvarnishing · 08/01/2017 20:02

Mitzy visit on a Friday or Saturday and they make an effort by putting their hair in rollers.
It's like watching David Attenborough "and here we are witnessing the unwashed preparing for tonights herd get together".

FizzBombBathTime · 08/01/2017 20:02

Can't believe this makes some people so hysterical

Up to you what you wear.
Up to me if I privately think how lazy and scruffy you look.

mummyof2pr · 08/01/2017 20:03

Omg get over the comment about DH. Some people just struggle. I didn't say he's terrible. I said he struggles.

I judge people who judge strangers on what they're wearing in supermarkets. I consider them snobbish busy-bodies lacking in empathy.

Perhaps if they'd just be the socially acceptable form of snooty, you know, remarking on the unhealthy contents of someone's trolley and the like, I wouldn't judge them so. Don't they know judging people on their clothing is for behind closed doors? Doing it in public is common. How hard would it be to stick to conventional judginess when supermarket shopping??

BravoPanda · 08/01/2017 20:04

The hilarity of those not understanding the context of 'tramp' Smile

  • not a slut
  • like someone that pushes a shopping trolley filled with binbags and cardboard and 26 cats in their coat, covered in bird poo
Thegiantofillinois · 08/01/2017 20:04

Forget the slobby arguments: doesn't it get cold? I put mine on p o st dc bed and sit down stairs, but need a blanket. Sunday mornin g s I need to get dressed by about 9 cos I want proper, warm clothes.

mummyof2pr · 08/01/2017 20:04

@navy yeah that's why because you know me so well. No it's because I woke up and put on my pyjama bottoms and came downstairs to grab a diaper for my DS and realised the box was empty. I dont dress to make others happy, I dress for myself.

"Tramp" has different meanings in many different places so actually not that funny. This is a typical issue with slang terms.

Wear what you like op when you like. It's not hurting me in any way, there really are far greater fish to fry than whether people go out in jogging bottoms a tutti fruity tuttu or PJ bottoms.

As long as it's not a fucking shell suit that rustles everywhere you walk

JustCallMeKate · 08/01/2017 20:05

Some people just struggle.

Some people take the lazy way out of parenting.....🙄

Justcallmekate - and dressing...

mummyof2pr · 08/01/2017 20:06

@navy as I just said I wear what I want. Not that I can't be bothered. I WANTED to wear my warm and comfy pants so I did.

For those confused. The Oxford English Dictionary definition of the word tramp being used in this context is

A person who travels from place to place on foot in search of work or as a vagrant or beggar.

There is nothing in there about women in crop tops and short skirts it should be noted.

Chippednailvarnishing · 08/01/2017 20:07

I think some people are missing the point. If you're in a shop in your pyjamas you're not dressed.

JaxingJump · 08/01/2017 20:07

The way I see it you could go to the shops dressed as an astronaut. It's not appropriate wear for the situation but hey, your privates are covered and it's your choice. I feel the same about PJs. Not appropriate for the situation but not illegal. I would still look at you and think....hmm.

BravoPanda · 08/01/2017 20:07

Blunt - I like you Grin

JassyRadlett · 08/01/2017 20:08

Some men aren't as good with small children, that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with my DH

The same applies to some women. However they wouldn't get a pass on being unable to parent their own children for an hour. Society would judge them even more harshly than people who wear pyjamas down the shops.

Sexist drivel. Really tired of people (and the advertising industry) pretending men can't be expected to be competent parents. It does the normal, decent blokes a real disservice.

mummyof2pr · 08/01/2017 20:08

As I've said @blunt it is a slang term for a slutty woman in numerous places so not unusual to be confused.

OP posts:
BravoPanda · 08/01/2017 20:09

I think the confusion spreads to your wardrobe choices too, OP.

Bluntness100 · 08/01/2017 20:09

Bravo. Why thank you, I like you too, 😛
