Aside from the UK, where would you want to live?

Inspired by my other thread.

I'm from Australia, and I would live in the UK in a heartbeat.

Think I would like either Canada or New Zealand. I'm Scottish so would like somewhere that looked like home but somewhere where you didn't get 4 seasons of weather in one day

e1y1 · 22/12/2016 21:27

I am from the UK and live here. I would move to the Republic of Ireland in a second, if it weren't for family, I would have already gone (may do so in another 10 years or so).

Anononoo · 22/12/2016 21:31

Germany or France.

Mouthofmisery · 22/12/2016 21:33

New Zealand or Switzerland

Paulat2112 · 22/12/2016 21:33

Texas :) or somewhere rural, I'm in the central belt in Scotland but would love to stay and just be somewhere more rural. Easily pleased. I love my country lol

fannyfanackapan · 22/12/2016 21:38

I used to think somewhere remote but warm, like Bora Bora Blush Based on places I've been I have an affinity with Syracuse which is upstate New York, in fact a 4 hour drive away from New York itself. That or on the coast in the U.K., don't mind where. As long as I didn't have to work I'd spend my days walking my dog on the beach and playing silly buggers with him. Oh and with a cottage with a log fire to come back to!

sotiredbutworthit · 22/12/2016 21:40

I'm from the UK and I would love to move to Iceland!!

Fiona2609 · 22/12/2016 21:42

I am vey happy where I live now and have done since 1988.
Not UK!

scaredoffallout · 22/12/2016 21:54

Italy or France.

pieceofpurplesky · 22/12/2016 22:06

I often think about this and my answer is by the sea (the distant view of the Mersey doesn't really count). Warm all year , sea, fresh fish and good wine. I love some parts of Spain and Italy. I loved the short time I lived in Australia (Noosa for the most of it).

ScruffyTheJanitor · 22/12/2016 22:08

Everywhere has massive cons..
Some places have massive pros...

So I'll say Scotland... Fuck your rules Grin

RortyCrankle · 22/12/2016 22:12

No-where else - I love England.

StillMaidOfStars · 22/12/2016 22:13

Vancouver. Sevilla.

Rachel0Greep · 22/12/2016 22:13

Am not in the U.K., and I love where I live.

MyBootsAreMuddy · 22/12/2016 22:20

I'm from Newcastle Zealand but live in the UK, I would go back to NZ in a heartbeat and it's where my heart will always be.
If I had to choose somewhere else it would be Canada or one of the Scandinavian countries.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/12/2016 22:25

Scotland/Northern Scandinavia/Alaska

FoxSticks · 22/12/2016 22:26

New Zealand or canada

tinyterrors · 22/12/2016 22:30

Germany, Colorado or Ireland.

Krampus · 22/12/2016 22:30

I have a soft spot for Iceland but realistically it would be Germany or Canada.

I have family in Australia and whilst there are many things I love about it I'm not sure if I could deal with the remoteness. You can't jump on a ferry and be in another country, plus I do love a dark, cold winter.

MyBootsAreMuddy · 22/12/2016 22:45

I've just realised my tablet auto corrected New Zealand for Newcastle Zealand Hmm I've never been anywhere near Newcastle Grin.

elQuintoConyo · 22/12/2016 22:48

San Fransisco, Washington State, New England. Italy.

Canada and NZ wouldn't appear on my list.

I'm not in the UK and wouldn't move back. I am completely happy with where I live now.

AmberEars · 22/12/2016 22:49

I'm happy here in the UK. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

BroomstickOfLove · 22/12/2016 22:50

Like lots of other posters, New Zealand, Scandinavia, maybe Canada. Ireland, but I'm from there originally so it doesn't really count. I like it here, though.

Tastesjustlikecherrycola85 · 22/12/2016 22:51

Athens, such a beautiful place

Cherrysoup · 22/12/2016 22:54

Why, OP? I have family who moved there, they like it, but think it's 'quiet' compared to a big UK city, despite living in a big city over there. There's no way they'd ever move back here.

I like America, I've travelled there extensively, I could manage Canada too! However, a big field with no neighbours in any country would do. It would suit me and the DH plus our assorted animals.
