Aside from the UK, where would you want to live?

Inspired by my other thread.

I'm from Australia, and I would live in the UK in a heartbeat.

I live in Italy and would quite like to live in a more organised version of Italy - maybe Slovenia?

Juanbablo · 23/12/2016 07:40

We were so close to moving to Germany last year and I was gutted when it fell through. I loved it there. If the opportunity arose again I would go. Also Swizerland or France. And Australia.

Bohemond · 23/12/2016 07:42

Barcelona probably. The leafy district.

heron98 · 23/12/2016 07:44

France.

I have always loved France, did French at university, lived in Paris for a bit in my twenties.

I think I'd like to live in the Alps in summer and a city in the winter.

CrossfireHurricane · 23/12/2016 07:46

I love living in England but I dream of spending the winter on La Manga when we retire.

CatsGoPurrrr · 23/12/2016 07:53

Canada or Italy.

CatsGoPurrrr · 23/12/2016 07:54

Or Scotland.

EustaceClarenceScrubb · 23/12/2016 08:00

Austria. The mountains, the food, the general pace of life is so much more appealing.

Waves at Tokelau

Made a friend already!

Jecan · 23/12/2016 08:05

To South Tyrol in the north of Italy. I already speak German and would be able to learn Italian since both languages are spoken there.
The mountains, the wine, the mix of cultures...... I'll dream about it while I do my pre Xmas housework!

Bumbleclat · 23/12/2016 08:07

New Zealand definitely.

Yoghurty · 23/12/2016 08:21

I'm in the UK, but I'd love to live in Los Angeles. Not everyone's first choice, I know!

It's the climate, the culture and the lifestyle.

First time I went there, I hated it. I had the idea that everyone was fake and if you weren't 'perfect' you'd feel out of place. Not the case at all! It is, however, shabbier than you'd expect.

We have friends that live there, and DH's work has an LA based office. I'd move in a heartbeat if he got a position there!

busyrascal · 23/12/2016 08:36

I lived in the suburbs of Sydney for 8 months as a teen and would go back in an instant if I could.

Also would fancy Miami or Seville.

Salzundessig · 23/12/2016 08:42

I live in Austria and I love it here. I would also be happy in Switzerland or Bavaria. Maybe rural areas of the North of England. Am originally from Essex, don't love it there as much.

Gowgirl · 23/12/2016 08:50

I would never leave London, but.....a nice little place in Paris for weekends would be good!

SharkBaitOohHaha · 23/12/2016 09:06

Canada. Specifically, Vancouver.

mimishimmi · 23/12/2016 09:06

Ireland or Scotland.I'm in Australia.

TheNaze73 · 23/12/2016 09:07

Malta, Italy, Sydney or NYC

muppet1969 · 23/12/2016 09:16

Cambodia - Phnom Penh

canihaveacoffeeplease · 23/12/2016 09:19

Australia!! Going through the visa application process just now..:so exciting

AllTheBabies · 23/12/2016 09:22

Iceland. Or somewhere Scandinavian.

I couldn't live anywhere too busy. I even find a lot of England too full (I'm in Scotland).

Babyroobs · 23/12/2016 09:25

I lived in New Zealand for 5 years back in the nineties and would love to live there again one day.

TempsPerdu · 23/12/2016 09:27

Pretty happy living in London but...

  • Canada (my brother lives in Vancouver and I love it there)
  • Northern Italy - specifically the Veneto or the German-speaking South Tirol. Love lakes and mountains, studied German at uni and now learning Italian so pretty well covered! Am a bit obsessed with Merano...
  • The Black Forest/Heidelberg/Stuttgart area of Germany
  • Left-field choice would be Slovenia - we had a holiday there a few years ago and we're overwhelmed by how stunning it was and how lovely the people were.
  • Within the U.K. probably a small city or university town - Bath/Cambridge/Winchester. Also loved Bristol when I studied there.
WingMirrorSpider · 23/12/2016 09:34

I don't think I could live anywhere but Western Europe. I could happily live in France, Netherlands, Germany, Scandinavia.

I love Australia but the wildlife would put me off a bit I think! I absolutely adored New Zealand, but I did feel a long way from everywhere.

I love European history so I love the fact that living in the U.K. There are places like Venice, Prague, Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen etc. on my doorstep.

KayTee87 · 23/12/2016 09:38

I'm Scottish and we considered somewhere in Canada briefly.

Oliversmumsarmy · 23/12/2016 09:39

The Hollywood Hills.

Quiet, great views but within a short drive you can be in LA. Whenever we go I always feel like I could live there.

Been to New York and various other places around the world and other places in the US but that is the only area I could see myself living
