Aside from the UK, where would you want to live?

Inspired by my other thread.

I'm from Australia, and I would live in the UK in a heartbeat.

Another vote for Iceland.

ScarletForYa · 24/12/2016 01:18

Greece.

LackOfAdhesiveDucks · 24/12/2016 01:27

I'm Canadian and live in Ontario and I'll probably never move anywhere else. I lived in the uk briefly and loved it, especially London. Not sure where else I'd consider, maybe New Zealand.

boomshakkala · 24/12/2016 02:08

Nowhere else on earth. Éire go brách!

Pluto30 · 24/12/2016 02:13

I'm Australian and live in Australia.

DH is Norwegian. I love a lot of things about Norway, but probably wouldn't move there permanently. The winters would kill me.

I love Scotland, but wouldn't move there for the same reason. Too bleak and cold.

Would move to Queenstown, NZ, but nowhere else in NZ.

Hi Eustace!

Cleorapter · 26/12/2016 01:00

Canada for sure.

cantthinkofabloodyname · 26/12/2016 01:08

I'd love to live in Atlanta, Georgia. For the climate, near to things I love & to be near friends

BeastofChristmasIsland · 26/12/2016 01:17

Canada (lived there for 2 years and adored it), maybe New Zealand. In Europe would be Sweden; I've also lived/worked in Spain for a while and it was lovely but I wouldn't move there permanently. We just moved down to Devon though and are really happy, we love it.

I'm an Aussie. I hate the cold. I've tried several countries but the very thought of putting on layers to leave the house turns my stomach. I would like to live 50/50 Australia and Southern Italy - permanent summer Grin

WyfOfBathe · 26/12/2016 01:31

I lived in France for 15 years, and so I do sometimes think it would be nice to move back, but then there are some parts of the culture there which I don't really like. Maybe I could move the French-speaking Caribbean instead.

I also love Germany and German culture and have a lot of friends there, and from what I've seen their education system seems quite good so maybe Germany.

LoupGarou · 26/12/2016 01:45

I live about as far north as you can get in North America as I love it here, don't ever want to live anywhere else. DH and I grew up predominantly in the UK and have lived all over the world, but nowhere compares to here for us :)

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/12/2016 01:55

I've lived in Northern Italy, Canada and the UK. Featured highly in this thread...

I loved London, Canada is very... safe and... pretty Italy is beautiful and exciting but fuck me, try to register anything or do anything legal. You want to rip your eyes out.

If I had my time again I'd live in Laos or Uganda. Uganda is so so beautiful. But to stay forever? When a man is tired of London, he's tired of life.

dovesong · 26/12/2016 01:56

I'm in the southeast and would love to live in Edinburgh or a non touristy part of Spain.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 26/12/2016 02:03

I have lived in

Canada
Germany
Hungary
The Netherlands
Switzerland
Australia
London

And now we are back in Canada again.

I miss London terribly but I am never living anywhere else ever again.

Glastokitty · 26/12/2016 02:09

I've lived in Ireland ( North and south), London, and now Perth, Australia. Australia is the best by a million miles, it really is paradise and like Tamberlane above, I wish I'd emigrated years ago! Although I would mind doing a few months in Italy every year when it's our winter. I'm so glad we choose Australia over Canada, as I really love the sunshine here, and think I'd have hated Canadian weather, lovely though Canada is. As for the UK and Ireland, I don't even want to holiday there because of the weather. If it wasn't for family I doubt I'd go back ( except for London, which I love).

pandarific · 26/12/2016 02:47

Ireland.

MangosteenSoda · 26/12/2016 03:17

I prefer a warmer climate, like being by the sea and love the variety of cultures, cuisines, history etc that's accessible within short distances in Europe, so think a Mediterranean city like Barcelona would suit me.

I've lived on three continents, so am pretty adaptable. I'd give most places a chance if a good opportunity arose there.
