Aside from the UK, where would you want to live?

Inspired by my other thread.

I'm from Australia, and I would live in the UK in a heartbeat.

Switzerland. I'm going, an all! Grin

AteRiri · 22/12/2016 23:03

Why, OP?

Maybe idealised view of the UK - London specifically - from movies. :) I know, it's shallow, but as a child, I dreamt of marrying a British guy!

I'm from the UK but I fancy Utah - as well as Egypt, Morocco, South Africa, Kenya and Israel: all warm, full of bright colours and sunny. Apart from Utah Grin

Tokelau · 22/12/2016 23:08

Austria, in the mountains.

AteRiri · 22/12/2016 23:08

Switzerland too.

I love the UK except for our weather. So I would live here in Spring/summer and somewhere like Majorca for the rest of the year.

LeadPipe · 22/12/2016 23:11

Paris, Norway, Germany

PitilessYank · 22/12/2016 23:15

I live in the US, but I would find living in Norway, Denmark, or Finland appealing.

However, most of the people I love live here; I couldn't leave them behind.

SanityAssassin · 22/12/2016 23:15

I would love to live in a certain area in California but realistically would never be able to work there so it would have to be a dream for retirement!

Likewise a little villa on a certain Greek Island I could happily see out my days on - nice and peaceful.

In reality I'm stuck here until retirement when I intend to resume my travelling adventures :)

HunterofStars · 22/12/2016 23:19

New Zealand, Norway, Iceland or Switzerland.

Fireandflames666 · 22/12/2016 23:20

Alberta Canada

wasonthelist · 22/12/2016 23:21

Ireland or NZ. No desire to leave UK though.

BadLad · 22/12/2016 23:21

Dubai. I'd like to retire there.

Muddlingthroughtoo · 22/12/2016 23:25

Canada, its the only other place I can see myself. Proper seasons, health care and beautiful countryside just like Wales
In the con side, it does have America as a neighbour!

LightDrizzle · 22/12/2016 23:31

Canada or Granada in Andalusia.

Aebj · 22/12/2016 23:37

I've lived in Devon , Somerset , Portsmouth, Northwood , Scotland , gibraltar and now live in Australia. ( and a small 3 month visit to USA).
Australia is far the best place I've lived but if uber rich I would have a pad in London and here in Australia

cushioncovers · 22/12/2016 23:57

Canada

cushioncovers · 22/12/2016 23:57

Or Alaska

Yambabe · 23/12/2016 00:01

Mallorca.

I have a tentative plan to retire there eventually. Brexit might have stuffed that for me though as retirement is probably still 10-15 years away.....

oldlaundbooth · 23/12/2016 02:24

Brit living in Canada here.

I'd live in Australia, New Zealand, Scotland.

GorgeousPie · 23/12/2016 04:20

I'm from the UK and live in Australia - it's great. New Zealand is lovely as well.

swimmerforlife · 23/12/2016 04:30

I'm originally from New Zealand, I live in London though. NZ will always be home but I have no plans to return there in the near future, beautiful country, sadly it's not enough to make me want to move back, isolation is the biggest reason tbh.

I've lived in Canada briefly, I would move back there in a heartbeat. Have a dream of living in Toronto.

I'm happy in the UK though!

Outfoxed · 23/12/2016 05:01

Sweden. In a heartbeat.

Well, I love Bavaria and don't think I'd every move away, other than to return to Switzerland.

I liked Canada, but everything its too far away from each other. You'd drive for hours and end up in a teeny "town" with 250 inhabitants. I like driving in Bavaria and quickly coming to the next picture-postcard village, the maypoles, the fountains and roadside chapels. It's such and green with mountains hovering in the background. Perfect. And Biergarten in the summer. Double perfect.
