Farted on bus loudly, rude comments? AIBU to feel this was unnecessary?

This is an embarrassing post. On a bus (not crowded) yesterday. I had a dodgy stomach that appeared during the morning with loud farts.

Unfortunately during part of the journey I let off a loud and a bit smelly fart. Cue two women nearby one saying loudly "that's disgusting, who would smell like that, who would do that, dirty bitch" with a pointed look at me and looking away. I got off the bus feeling a bit embarrassed went to a toilet in a department store, went to the toilet and cleaned myself up (it wasn't as bad as I thought it was) got hand sanitizer and took some anti-diarrhoea pills.

AIBU to think this one woman was really rude or am I being over sensitive? It was one of those routemaster buses she said something about opening the windows but they don't have windows... That's not my fault and I had no idea my stomach was so bad.

Thanks

No really rude of them. Some people do treat farts like its something personal against them.

Afreshstartplease · 20/11/2016 11:46

It could have been worse, the bus could have been full of school kids

Whichoneofyoudidthat · 20/11/2016 11:47

Etiquette dictates that you pretend it never happened, especially in a yoga class. Grin

Unless you're at home, in which case you say..."Whichoneofyoudidthat?"

SuperFlyHigh · 20/11/2016 11:48

holly these were two grown women, a mother and daughter. If I'd been up for a row I'd have called her out on calling me a bitch but felt so unwell...

Luckily I'm better now but it seriously did creep up on me during the course of the day!

Words fail.

hollyatchristmas · 20/11/2016 11:49

I once farted in a school assembly and got called a dirty bitch aswell lol.

SuperFlyHigh · 20/11/2016 11:50

holly that's school kids though!

Seriously the bus was empty.....

Always look accusingly at the person talking/bitching and innocently say "pardon you" ;)

AlexaTwoAtT · 20/11/2016 11:51

It was not empty.

Capricorn76 · 20/11/2016 11:51

You can't help being ill but I would have been seriously pissed off if you had done a loud stinky fart on the bus next to me. I probably wouldn't have vocalised it but I would move and make it clear why I did. Buses are smelly enough, I don't want to be trapped in some random's shit particles as well.

SuperFlyHigh · 20/11/2016 11:52

Bloopbleep I hadn't realised I was supposed to apologise (not what you're saying) should I have apologised too??

I wasn't right next to them.

AlexaTwoAtT · 20/11/2016 11:52

Urgh. Last night people were talking about not flushing their loos and now this.
Standards and pride come to mind...

hollyatchristmas · 20/11/2016 11:52

I think the best thing to do is pretend nothing happened, I guess I can understand people not being thrilled by bad smells though.

SuperFlyHigh · 20/11/2016 11:53

I wasn't next to them! They were sat in I think the seats behind but not facing onto my seat. So there was separation distance. If they had been near I'd have apologised.

GlitteryFluff · 20/11/2016 11:53

She was rude.
However if I was sitting on a bus with someone and they just let a loud smelly one go, I'd think they were rude tbh.

AmysTiara · 20/11/2016 11:53

Well its a bit grim to be fair. Stuck on a bus with no open windows. Ugh.

JinkxMonsoon · 20/11/2016 11:54

Well I would have done my best to hold it in, especially as it sounded like you soiled yourself.

It's not nice having your nose assaulted with foul farts in enclosed spaces.

SuperFlyHigh · 20/11/2016 11:54

Alexa number one I wasn't that near them, number two what was I supposed to have done? I had an upset stomach that came on suddenly, if I was that sick and I realised before I'd have stayed home!!!

OP posts:
AlexaTwoAtT · 20/11/2016 11:55

Why would you post something like this, anyway? Jeez

liz70 · 20/11/2016 11:55

"some random's shit particles "

Hmm They must be incredibly tiny particles if they can pass through several layers of clothing.

SuperFlyHigh · 20/11/2016 11:55

Jink I was lucky I didn't soil myself, managed to hold on til I found a toilet, but had the horrid fart just before.

OP posts:
SuperFlyHigh · 20/11/2016 11:56

How can you hold something in if you have an upset stomach??

OP posts:
hollyatchristmas · 20/11/2016 11:57

Well if someone's soiling themselves they clearly can't help it.

I guess in OPs situation you might be best apologising quietly and indicating your ill.

I fainted once in Tesco, I must of farted because I came round when I hit my head and there was a horrible smell but the staff were lovely and none mentioned the smell. Although they probably did when I Went!

So you sharted and someone said you stank. Well sorry but I would have been pissed off too. I may have pulled a face, but probably wouldn't have said anything.
