What is so wrong with Hillary?

I know I know, not another one of these threads but I'm struggling to understand why everyone hates her so much.

I know she has been accused of corruption but nothing has stuck and it doesn't seem to be any worse than her male counterparts- is it because she's a woman?

AIBU to ask you to point me to some facts as to what she has done to be so hated? I'm genuinely interested.

Sorry, Condoleezza*

Tinkfromlovejoy · 09/11/2016 21:20

Apparently The Donald asked her to be his running mate. She declined and came forward as a Republican against him. I just wonder what her future plans are.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 09/11/2016 21:26

Elendon - don't forget being made bankrupt four times.

Hilary was qualified for the job and would have made a decent president but not one concession can be made for a female and every concession made for all of his.

ThymeLord · 09/11/2016 21:28

"Her history is just as shady as Hillarys"

Whereas Donald Trump is what exactly?

Want2bSupermum · 09/11/2016 21:31

Storm that is my point.... She was the first to state how awful Trump was based on a recording of him staying he grabbed women by the pussy and a bunch of women who were paid to appear at press conferences to accuse him of actually doing this.

OTOH she condoned her DH sexually assaulting women who worked for him. That is questionable moral judgement to many.

Isitadoubleentendre · 09/11/2016 21:34

If she had been a man she probably would have won.

It didn't help that she treated the women that Bill shagged or has allegedly sexually assaulted so badly. It hardly endears her.

Atenco · 09/11/2016 21:34

Gosh, nobody knows what is wrong with Clinton!!!! What about the Intervention in Libya, drones over Pakistan when she was Foreign Secretary. The fact that she is in the pocket of the bankers...

I couldn't give a damn whether she stands by her unfaithful husband that is strictly her affair, but the rest....

Want2bSupermum · 09/11/2016 21:34

Condy has been smart enough to disappear from political life. I feel very sorry for because she was used by Bush which killed her career. Same with Colin Powell. Fabulous candidates ruined by the Bush administration.

ThymeLord · 09/11/2016 21:34

Exactly where is the evidence that Hillary Clinton condoned her husband sexually assaulting women?

OhtoblazeswithElvira · 09/11/2016 21:37

What a sad thread. Some posters here are foaming at the mouth while going into detail about How Much They Hate HC. Let me tell you that you are completely failing to paint a convincing portrait of Evil Hillary and you yourselves are not coming across well at all.

I didn't think misogyny had anything to do with the election result. This thread has opened my eyes - it is all about misogyny. I haven't seen so much irrational, convoluted, deeply prejudiced rubbish for a long time.

Want2bSupermum · 09/11/2016 21:40

thyme The fact that she has stood by him while he has done this. The fact that the women who say they were assaulted have said HC made threats against them, the fact that she just glosses over it when asked.....

Seriously, how many of us on here would accept our DH putting a cigar up a 19 year old interns wooha? How many of us would accept our DH sexually assaulting an employee (Paula Jones)? There is absolutely no way that I would stand for it. I would be out of the marriage at whatever cost, especially as I have children who I think need to be shown that no women should have to tolerate that sort of behaviour towards them.

ThymeLord · 09/11/2016 21:40

Donald Trump is recorded on tape discussing how easy it is for him to sexually assault women. There's video of him mocking disabled journalists. Of him saying he'd date his daughter if he wasn't her father. Of him saying "I could be dating her in 10 years" about a child. Yet people are still desperate to believe he's a better pick than a woman with 30 years of experience in politics. I can't even begin to make sense of what is going on in the world at the moment!

Pluto30 · 09/11/2016 21:40

I wasn't talking about Trump, I was talking about Rice. The question was about her, not him. She was too involved in the Bush administration, 9/11 and the invasion of Iraq to stand a chance as President. People have short memories, but decisions she was a part of have had an ongoing (and ballooning) impact that people are hardly like to let go of.

Thyme Well she hardly condemned it.

ThymeLord · 09/11/2016 21:41

She stood be her cheating husband. So what?

ThymeLord · 09/11/2016 21:42

So there is no evidence that she condoned her husbands infidelity but because she didn't publicly condemn it it's the same thing? Can you hear yourself?!

UnGoogleable · 09/11/2016 21:43

She's smoothly insincere. Difficult to like.

I was very disappointed at the shallowness of her campaign. I expected her to annihilate Trump in the debates with her far superior intellect and experience of how the political world works. I wanted her to ask him the really probing questions:

"How exactly are you going to build this wall? Tell us your plan on how you will fund it";

"How exactly do you propose to deport all illegal immigrants who, by definition, are currently living here illegally and presumably in hiding?";

"You say you won't get involved with wars abroad that don't concern the USA - and yet you say you will wipe out ISIS - how will you achieve both those things?"

"You're highly critical of the US military's strategy in Mosul, saying they gave the enemy far too much notice. How exactly would you mobilise thousands of troops and train the local army in secret? And tell us how you, who dodged the Vietnam draft, now seem to know how to launch an invasion better than our army generals with decades of experience?"

"You brushed off your 'Grab em by the Pussy' comments as 'Locker room talk'. Is this how you and your friends usually talk? Do you think that's OK?"

Instead - she spoke in the same, cheesy, repeated, hollow soundbites and catch phrases. Her campaign was almost as lacking in substance as his was. She doesn't lack the intelligence to challenge him, so I can only assume that this was a strategy worked out with her team to just repeat the same lines....

It didn't work, she just sounded insincere and there was no challenge, no exposing this ignoramus for what he was. She grossly miscalculated and underplayed her hand.

Want2bSupermum · 09/11/2016 21:45

Thyme He wasn't cheating though. He was assaulting women such as Paula Jones. He demonstrated he has absolutely zero respect for Monica Lewinsky when he said he did not have sexual relations with her. No man with any sort of moral fiber would take advantage of a 19 year old girl who was in awe of working so close to the President.

HappyCamel · 09/11/2016 21:46

I don't think this has much to do with their personalities actually (and I'm in the States).

It's far more that people just got their prices for healthcare next year. People are seeing 50% increases in health insurance costs. For some people costs have gone up by 80% since the so-called Affordable Care Act.

They couldn't risk Clinton maintaining or expanding the legislation. They're banking on Trump repealing it. For some people healthcare has gone from $400 a month to $1600 plus copays. Property taxes are up and salaries are static.

Want2bSupermum · 09/11/2016 21:49

Camel there is that with the insurance premiums. It is shocking how high the cost is. It is at the point where you might as well not work. That is not how America functions.

Also property taxes are insane. We are paying $15k a year and looking at a home which 'only' has $23k in property taxes. It is totally unsustainable and these homes are going to be worth nothing very soon because the monthly payment will be predominately property tax. Property taxes of $40k are now 'normal' here in Jersey. It is insane.

OlennasWimple · 09/11/2016 21:52

HRC is known as Killary around here

Isitadoubleentendre · 09/11/2016 21:53

So there is no evidence that she condoned her husbands infidelity but because she didn't publicly condemn it it's the same thing?

I think no evidence is stretching it. There's a fair amount out there about hiring private detectives to dig up dirt on the women, references to 'bimbos' and 'trailer trash', threatening behaviour towards alleged victims etc etc.

Of course it could all br completely made up bullshit but i imagine there is some truth there. And of course the way she has stood by Bill and his despicable behaviour whilst at the same time talking about how great she is for women.

Still better than pussy grabbing Trump of course, but hardly saintly.

Out2pasture · 09/11/2016 22:02

Hilary came across as gender neutral, her views again neutral, she was a carbon copy of hundreds of bland politicians who speak and say nothing.
Donald came across as a loudmouth, I didn't think he'd win.
Time will tell, maybe a new approach will help the people of the USA. Hopefully he surrounds himself by experts and learns well.
The government wheels turn very slowly, I don't expect much change in the end.

Thegirlinthefireplace · 09/11/2016 22:09

Of course misogyny is massive factor, this thread proves it in a most depressing fashion.

Desperately sad and frustrating that she takes more shit for being married to an alleged sex abuser than Trump gets for actually being an alleged sex abuser!

lljkk · 09/11/2016 22:10

Establishment = ... The US Constitution? You know, the one the president has to swear to protect.

Silly me, for thinking the Constitution is a Good Thing.

SpareASquare · 09/11/2016 22:11

Her biggest problem is that she has a vagina. It really IS that simple.
You can pretty much overcome anything said or done if you DON'T Have one.

It's not about what she has or hasn't done in the end.
