What is so wrong with Hillary?

I know I know, not another one of these threads but I'm struggling to understand why everyone hates her so much.

I know she has been accused of corruption but nothing has stuck and it doesn't seem to be any worse than her male counterparts- is it because she's a woman?

AIBU to ask you to point me to some facts as to what she has done to be so hated? I'm genuinely interested.

OP posts:
Shakirawannabe · 09/11/2016 22:16

Correct me if I'm wrong but the things I have read about Hillary are that there have been approximately 30 people in there circle that have had unexplained deaths or are missing.
Also that Hillary and Obama funded and supplied ISIS with weapons

Overthinker2016 · 09/11/2016 22:17

I'm interested to know why Hillary rolling out Jay-Z and Beyoncé is viewed as out of touch whereas why Obama did exactly the same thing that was fine.

Overthinker2016 · 09/11/2016 22:19

Shakira are you actually accusing the Clintons of being serial killers?

Ludicrous.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 09/11/2016 22:22

It's all very depressing - people just didn't like her or trust her especially . Some valid . Most prejudiced

Pluto30 · 09/11/2016 22:34

Because they voted for Obama thinking he would bring real change, so the celebrity endorsements were neither here nor there. But considering the continued downward vortex a lot of these people have gotten sucked into over the last 8 years, now rolling out celebrities makes the Democrats seem out of touch, and confirms that they no longer give a rats about appealing, much less delivering, to their used-to-be-safe working class supporters.

Isitadoubleentendre · 09/11/2016 22:38

Desperately sad and frustrating that she takes more shit for being married to an alleged sex abuser than Trump gets for actually being an alleged sex abuser!

No one is saying that on this thread, or probably even if this country! People are just answering the OPs question about why she wasn't a complete shoo in to win against such a bell end.

Want2bSupermum · 09/11/2016 22:43

Bill settled out of court with Paula Jones. That in my eyes makes him guilty. Trump hasn't settled with anyone over sexual abuse claims in or out of court. A bunch of women coming out of the woodwork just before election day doesn't work with most people.

Also Obama ran on a ticket of 'change you can believe in'. Well sadly his legacy has been blown up by the results this morning.

Hopefully in the coming months some good candidates will emerge and I hope some of them on women. I also hope Trump puts some women in charge of his administration. His campaign manager was awesome and a women.... I thought Kellyann Conway did an amazing job.

Storminateapot · 09/11/2016 22:46

The 30 people missing is a ridiculous cooked-up story and I can't believe anyone is seeing that as anything other than bullshit.

I'm so disappointed that she is being judged and held accountable here, of all places, for the actions of her husband a long time ago and her decision to maintain her marriage in light of them. A marriage that still endures, I might add. We're calling that morally questionable?!

Her anger at the OW - well are you seriously saying you'd be supportive and forgiving of a much younger OW? I bloody wouldn't! Again - long time ago.

I agree she's not a terribly sympathetic character and I can see why people don't warm to her. The Cherie Blair analogy is excellent.

But to see her as morally more suspect than Mr Trump - well that I will never understand.

SouthWestmom · 09/11/2016 22:48

Can anyone explain in really simple terms how it works that the First Lady would run for the presidency later on?

I keep reading that M Obama would be great in 2020 but why? Does the president have to be married to a politically employed spouse? What had H C and MO done /do to make them great candidates over other Americans?

Want2bSupermum · 09/11/2016 22:52

Storm She is being held accountable for her actions, not her DH's. Her anger at the OW was misplaced. She should have been angry and going after her 'D'H. Also its well known that they lead separate lives and at this point it is a marriage of convenience.

Morally there isn't much between Trump and Clinton. Both were bad candidates who should never have been nominated. If Clinton hadn't rigged the primaries I strongly believe we would have President Elect Sanders.

lljkk · 09/11/2016 22:53

I don't think Michelle O has any political ambitions.

Everyone is going on about POTUS, but just as bad is the fact that Repns have the Senate. Only Trump's lack of charm will stop him now. Sigh.

mimishimmi · 09/11/2016 22:55

"The question was about her, not him. She was too involved in the Bush administration, 9/11 and the invasion of Iraq to stand a chance as President. "

This. She supported many of the policy decisions and the events which practically everyone knew were b.s (from bitter past experience of their own communities being targeted in the same ways). Trump is a jerk in many ways but at least he questioned 9/11 and promised to bring the troops home. Clinton promised more of the same - America as world saviour with poor American boys as the fodder and people have had a gutful of it. Whether things actually change under Trump remains to be seen though.

Storminateapot · 09/11/2016 22:57

Well you seem to know an awful lot about the intimate workings of their marriage, so I will have to bow to your inside knowledge there. Are you Chelsea?

user1471545174 · 09/11/2016 22:58

Really lame thread.

There is no equivalence, it seems to be misogyny.

Thegirlinthefireplace · 09/11/2016 23:04

Itsadouble - your reply doesn't even make sense in response to what i wrote. Of course no one has written the exact words "it is worse to be married to an alleged abuser than to be one", that's not how deeply ingrained misogyny plays out.

My point is a comparison about the amount of negativity (at least on social media/forums (that point wasn't about this thread specifically) that each candidate got in that respect, which I stand by. It is entirely relevant because it supports my view of misogyny.

My point about ingrained misogyny in general was about this thread, my point about shit each party got re sex assault claims was about social media generally and not this thread. Hope that makes it clearer.

Want2bSupermum · 09/11/2016 23:05

Storm give over. You are sounding really stupid right now. It is common knowledge that they lead separate lives. There are lots of rumours that he has a line of women who keep him company and that Huma is HC's GF.

I am thankfully not Chelsea. I have a job in private enterprise, work for a living and our wedding wasn't paid for with charity funds.

Want2bSupermum · 09/11/2016 23:07

Oh and i also work in my community on a volunteer basis. I don't expect to get paid for it. Chelsea Clinton does.... Again, part of the reason so many people were not thrilled with HC.

SouthWestmom · 09/11/2016 23:09

www.independent.co.uk/news/people/us-election-donald-trump-hillary-clinton-a7407386.html

Loads of stuff like this

But why? Why does being married to the president make you a good candidate?

Want2bSupermum · 09/11/2016 23:14

Michelle Obama is a highly qualified and experienced lawyer who has been highly successful with her 'Let's Move' campaign. She comes across really well, especially when she goes to school and gives inspirational talks to kids in poor neighbourhoods. Not many first ladies have gone out of their way to be an inspiration to kids who really have the odds stacked against them.

Personally I think Michelle Obama has shown she is an excellent listener. I love how she has empathy and has been a great parent while also having her own career. Once in the white house she managed to play the game very well without crossing lines and I expect we won't see Clinton Foundation issues from the Obama's.

Storminateapot · 09/11/2016 23:32

Good grief, now you're calling me stupid? I fail to see one thing I have said that qualifies me for that insult.

As it happens, I am many things but stupid.

Well done. Vive la sisterhood eh?

Oswin · 10/11/2016 00:43

Want2b so you are saying that the woman who said trump raped her at 13 is a liar basically. And that Hilary put her up to it?
Any proof for any thing you have posted?

The fucking awful creature ADMITS to sexually assaulting women, he fucking boasts about it.

The fact that a woman would vote for him makes me feel sick.

Oswin · 10/11/2016 00:47

Checked that post again you directly link Hilary to the alleged rape victim.

Have I missed something.

You then say you can't just accuse someone of rape like that.

Erm that's how it works.

He's a predator ffs.

Want2bSupermum · 10/11/2016 02:51

oswin The case came up during his campaign. The day before the election it came out, very quietly, that she admitted to making it all up, therefore all charges were dropped.

The woman sounded like she has a mental illness and I don't blame her. I blame the Clinton campaign that clearly backed her knowing full well it wasn't true. Political parties shouldn't be messing around with rape.

ThisIsReallyNotMyName · 10/11/2016 02:55

'Trump appealed to the (very real) sense of disenfranchisement of poor, uneducated white people in the US...'

Oh what the 47 million poor educated white people who voted for President Elect Trump. Seriously, educate yourself please! The rhetoric you roll out is old hat and way off the mark of reality.
