I heard a black African woman on the radio here, she has been , living in the US for 20 years, who says she is moving back to Africa, so things must be looking shit in USA today! As Wilson says in Dad's Army, We're Doomed!!! It's all been down hill since we lost Bowie and Wogan!

Memoires · 09/11/2016 08:03

Plato, I believe, was scornful of democracy. He thought the 'people' were not fit to make those sorts of decisions. Hmmmmmm.......

MistressMolecules · 09/11/2016 08:03

Shock I am still trying to process it right now...this has to be a joke Sad (I'm hoping I am going to wake up soon and it will just be a bad bad dream)

GingerIvy · 09/11/2016 08:04

Joy exactly. This will have some scary repercussions.

Livelovebehappy · 09/11/2016 08:05

Ibelievethisearthisflat;

Ah, guess it's easier to just throw personal insults out there when you can't debate a point. It's just people on here are being utterly patronising and insulting towards others just for holding an opinion different from their own. I equally don't like either of them, but respect other people's right to vote how they want without resorting to insults. Stupid hillbillies?? Really?

JoyLibs · 09/11/2016 08:05

GiveMeRitz You're right and I hate that you're right - Latinos and Muslims will continue to be the reason for everything wrong with America...and if not them, then another minority group will be blamed!

roseteapot101 · 09/11/2016 08:05

i feel bad for not making a effort to vote i thought of him as a joke

SingaSong12 · 09/11/2016 08:05

SadShock

Aeroflotgirl · 09/11/2016 08:06

Many people voted Trump, black, white, men, women, Hispanic, not just one type of voter, as you can see from how the election results went. It is shocking, this is democracy, we have to respect that and work with it. Hope Trump has some stable people round him.

Marynary · 09/11/2016 08:06

I'm not surprised. It was going the way of Brexit in that he stirred the uneducated, racist and intolerant to vote.

Thefishewife · 09/11/2016 08:06

Well now surly president Kanya West is no longer a dream 😬😬😬😬😬they have the leader ther deserve tbh I never thought that much of the us

CalmItKermitt · 09/11/2016 08:07

It's like SKs The Dead Zone. He's Greg Stillson.

SirChenjin · 09/11/2016 08:08

Nothing more to add to the majority of the above. Depressing and shocking in equal measures ShockSadConfused

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 09/11/2016 08:09

live I'm with you on that point. And the comments hoping that he'll be assassinated - how does wanting someone dead raise you above his level of intolerance ?

IBelieveTheEarthIsFlat · 09/11/2016 08:09

Go on to Breitbart and find your people if you are not happy with the discourse here love. I'm sure they will be all happy there.

Or is it just a fight you are after?

OvO · 09/11/2016 08:10

I went to bed thinking how great it was going to be to wake to the US having a woman president. That I had nothing to worry about as no way was Trump going to win.

Fuck fuck fuck.

Thefishewife · 09/11/2016 08:10

And also I won't have any bloody moaning for black Americans (I am balck myself ) as they didn't turn out in the numbers Hillary needed so if they scared its there own bloody fault my cousin lives in the Bronx and didn't voted for the fucking independent candidate 😳

I was like what the hell

Forgive them father for they know not what they do AMEN

smilingmind · 09/11/2016 08:10

Most frightening to me is that he believes climate change is a lie out to get the gas guzzling americans.

Cantgetmyoldnameback · 09/11/2016 08:10

Livelovebehappy

London isn't FULL of migrants. And you've missed the important point that non British citizens couldn't vote in the EU referendum.

areyoubeingserviced · 09/11/2016 08:10

I am not 'hoping for assasination'. I am merely pointing out that it is a risk

derxa · 09/11/2016 08:11

derxa
That isn't how US elections work, I'm afraid Really?

happyandsingle · 09/11/2016 08:11

this reminds me so much of Brexit when all the leave voters were labelled uneducated peasants . Why do you think Clinton was so much better?
She was corrupt and told many lies throughout this campaign.
A couple of dud candidates America didn't have a lot to choose from.

.

CheerfulYank · 09/11/2016 08:11

Hillary was good, fishewife. She was good and prepared. She would have done a great job.

jemster123 · 09/11/2016 08:12

Scandalous! Why this desire to destroy the status quo when it works soooo well for all humankind? Brexit? Trump? Anyone would think the majority of the people were dissatisfied for some reason.

It makes you question the principal of democracy, where citizens have the right to vote as they feel fit on matters affecting their lives. If they feel resentful and powerless and that their voices don't get a chance to be heard, well, in an ideal world they would seize the opportunity to make their views clear when it comes to election time. But if it leads to ridiculous outcomes like this you wonder whether or not it's wise to give the proletariat the vote; I mean, a lot of them are so thick, (and dirty) aren't they? They should understand that the powers that be and the elitists know best and stay away from the polls which, after all, eats up precious TV soap watching time.

Maybe everyone should undergo an IQ test to be allowed a vote? Or a least be questioned to make sure they understand fully the ramifications and implications of their vote and possess a broad, extensive knowledge of all political, financial and economic matters? This would ensure that only the clever, well-informed people have their say. That way, all of the disillusionment, anger, resentment and sense of disempowerment can be clearly labelled as 'unjustified/misguided/misdirected/uninformed' etc. and then, quite rightly, ignored. Hopefully, it would then go away and the decent, clever folk could carry on ambling along their merry way toward that wonderful future and never a give a passing thought to that huge underlying swell of unhappy populace bubbling away underground as, hopefully, if they close their eyes and (clean) ears tight enough for long enough, it will quietly die down and not explode and impact negatively on their lives further down the line.

LeMesmer · 09/11/2016 08:12

Depressing as it is I feel sorry for a lot of those who voted for him. Probably they are just ordinary people, struggling for money, struggling to find work, not very well educated, with few life chances, and fearful of some of the things that are happening in the world. Then along come this gobby git, different to other politicians (not that he is one), he 'talks their language ', appeals to their worst fears with a few soundbites and tells them he will make their lives better despite having no policies to do so. So they vote for him. But he will do nothing for them, nothing. Their lives will probably be worse. Yes, I am sure a lot of his voters are as sexist, racist and unpleasant as he is, but a lot of them aren't. Politicians of all parties in the USA should be having a look at themselves and asking how people have become so disenfranchised with them that they believe Trump is the one to help them.
