South you're extrapolating from the fact that some have suggested that Trump voters voted stupidly, that those people would also say that stupid people shouldn't be allowed to vote.

But that's not what's been said. I can think they were stupid and wish they hadn't been stupid: that doesn't mean I think they shouldn't have the vote Hmm

Southallgirl · 10/11/2016 11:26

Seek That was not my extrapolation. There were different reasons why Americans voted for Trump. I have read that the Cubans voted for him because of some perceived insult to the Pope, for example. Some actually hope/believe what he says he can deliver. Others do not want involvement in more wars.

Clinton offered status quo, Trump was a "let's try him" vote.

Winston Churchill: The best argument against democracy...

Trump has won 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
GinAndTunic · 10/11/2016 11:28

southall, a tip: when you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

Theaspizzashop · 10/11/2016 11:29

South Will you acknowledge spreading blatant misinformation such as comparing the the British Labour party to Hitler's NSDAP?

GinAndTunic · 10/11/2016 11:29

I didn't know that Cuba voted in US presidential elections! The things you learn on MN.

GinAndTunic · 10/11/2016 11:32

I have to give Southallgirl credit for the entertaining - though completely uniformed and inaccurate - posts. It does make a difference from yesterday's hysterical 'were all gunna die' posts, which became tedious as posters tried to outdo each other with grim predictions of WW3.

Southallgirl · 10/11/2016 11:33

when you find yourself in a hole, stop digging. I could say the same to you, Gin.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 10/11/2016 11:34

A 'let's try him' vote is not notably clever. Especially when the person is question is Trump.

Winston Churchill: The best argument against democracy...

"Churchill was born into the family of the Dukes of Marlborough, a branch of the Spencer family. His father, Lord Randolph Churchill, was a charismatic politician who served as Chancellor of the Exchequer; his mother, Jennie Jerome, was an American socialite."
A true man of the people.

Theaspizzashop · 10/11/2016 11:36

South You dod realise you have completely trashed your credibility by posting that British Labour = NSDAP. So whatever you say on this thread will be seen in the light that you are simply not in possession of basic knowledge on the topic of fascism. Are you happy with that or will you at least acknowledge that you were wrong? I'm still waiting.

Southallgirl · 10/11/2016 11:36

Perhaps Seek, but if you've been out of work for a few years, surrounded by rusting dereliction, what else can you do?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 10/11/2016 11:41

Not vote for the wazzock who gropes women's pussies and boasts about it?

Theaspizzashop · 10/11/2016 11:43

South you wot?

You posted: ""National Socialist German Workers' Party? That was the equivalent to today's Labour Party"

This is rather slapstick comedy and entertaining and I did have to lol but are you going to acknowledge that this statement is factually incorrect and couldn't be further from the truth?

Strange with your relatives allegedly being victims of the Holocaust that you don't know a little bit more about that dark era. The closet equivalent to the Labour party during the Weimar republic was the SPD, whose members were persecuted and murdered by Hitler. WTF are you on about south

LittleLionMansMummy · 10/11/2016 11:46

For the umpteenth time, the idea that the disaffected masses and those disillusioned with 'their lot' in life were responsible for putting Trump in the Whitehouse has been exposed as a fallacy. Some did vote for him, yes. But most of his support came from white, wealthy men. Those earning below 50k generally voted for Clinton. Those around 50k were split and those above 50k were for Trump. It's a myth to say that those 'out of work for a few years and surrounded by rusting dereliction' voted in large swathes for the billionaire businessman, who will scrap Obamacare, Donald Trump.

GinAndTunic · 10/11/2016 11:48

but if you've been out of work for a few years, surrounded by rusting dereliction, what else can you do?

Getting an education?

Godstopper · 10/11/2016 11:48

With 1 in 4 voting for Trump, the masses were certainly not behind him. Half the electorate stayed at home which is mind boggling.

Still, in a glimmer of hope, John Hinckley has just been released. Just saying.

derxa · 10/11/2016 11:50

Still, in a glimmer of hope, John Hinckley has just been released. Just saying. Oh FGS

GinAndTunic · 10/11/2016 11:51

WTF are you on about south

Lord knows. But it is funny to watch. I eagerly await the next tranche of ignorance.

Southallgirl · 10/11/2016 11:51

Strange with your relatives allegedly being victims of the Holocaust

My parents were captured in 41 and forcibly taken to slave labour camps in Germany. They were not Jewish though.

Southallgirl · 10/11/2016 11:54

GinandTunic For you not to know that Florida was key to a win (for either candidate) and also not knowing that that State has a large population of Cubans and Hispanics is too stupid for words. Jeez.

GinAndTunic · 10/11/2016 11:55

derxa, I'm with you. Just when I thought posters had plumbed the depths of hate speech.

Southallgirl · 10/11/2016 11:57

but if you've been out of work for a few years, surrounded by rusting dereliction, what else can you do?

Ever heard ofJohnstown, Penn? Get a retrospective education and look it up. You must have spent 8 Nov in a cave. And to put people down from such struggling communities is done only by arseholes.

BoredofBrexit · 10/11/2016 11:57

Really sneery thread, displaying the worst face of mumsnet. Back to the 24 June.
