no - this is not the same as Brexit. Brexit was not caused by angry people - it was sane people wanting to take back control from a corrupt undemocratic EU and decide our furture without their malign influence.
Trump being elected is fuelled by a much more angry set of voters - you cannot really blame them as much of the American electorate is uneducated beyond their own community. I agree he is a disaster (but so would Clinton have been in a differant way).

I really don't understand this. She's not charismatic and Trump accuses her of being shady on the basis of very little. That's it as far as I can see. They are worlds apart in terms of their calibre.

Clearly she was objectively a poor candidate because she lost to a dreadful one. But it seems to me that there's a knee jerk reaction to a expert and knowledgable woman and that's not good. I suspect men won this election for Trump because of their issues with a woman like Hillary. We shall see what comes out of the data.

People would rather vote for someone with no experience in politics, whose businesses keep failing, who admits not paying taxes, has been accused of sexual assault, has made sexist, racist, xenophobic comments... but has a penis. They'd rather all that than have a woman president.

My family is American. None of them are shocked - even though all of them voted for Clinton. They are all from the Deep South, where racism and sexism is normal. People outside the us have underestimated the intense hatred for Clinton and the willingness to embrace something "different". Unfortunately for the rest of the world that different is Trump. It seems from talking to my family most people in the us don't even care if he's racist or sexist as so many people are. They just overlook that part.

Genuinely worried this morning having watched the news overnight and whilst it isn't confirmed a miracle is needed.
To feel that so many people have voted to Trump despite his views on women, his humiliation of disabled people is to me unbelievable, I understand that people are angry and want change in America but a man with no political experience, whose never held an elected office and is a reality tv star (plus dubious buisnessman who has had several episodes of financial difficulties) is simply terrifying and he now has control of the nucular codes (or will come January 2017)

I think the FBI wanted him in - hence the sudden investigation of emails reported when voting had already started- so millions voted before they then came back and said no criminality- and on top trump could also contest it saying it was rigged if she did win despite their intervention.
