Yes but the fact that the conservatives had a woman leader didn't deter people from voting them in. It proves that in general people definitely don't have a problem with the gender. Donald Trump has won because the democrats couldn't come up with a good candidate. If they're had someone honest, trustworthy and suitable for the job they'd have won, male or female.

I don't believe all Leavers voted Leave because of immigration, but very, very many did. I don't believe all Remainers are totally non-racist, politically right-on people (in fact, I personally know several who aren't) but I think the racists in that camp were probably less numerous on balance.

Similarly, in the US - Hillary was an absolutely horrible candidate, and there will have been loads of racist arseholes who voted for her. However, I think anyone who can vote for someone as overtly racist as Trump is unlikely to have a thorough, deep-seated commitment to equality.

Those who are racist on all sides yeah, I'm calling them ignorant arseholes. And I think across those two camps, they make up considerably more than 50% of the population.
