If it cheers anyone up..... I won twenty quid! grin

The milky bars are on you then, Lottie Grin

Elendon · 09/11/2016 09:16

Re assassination I'm hoping he won't be obviously assassinated as It'd turn him into a martyr and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it led to a hell of a lot of violence just short of a civil war

If Hilary Clinton was assassinated would it turn her into a martyr? Would it result in civil war?

I mean come on! This is a veiled threat if ever I heard it. Just like if Brexit doesn't happen then civil unrest like nothing this country (UK) has ever seen will happen (paraphrasing Farage). I hate that.

NinjaLeprechaun · 09/11/2016 09:17

Even though Congress aren't likely to stand in his way anyway, Constitutionally a President can declare Martial Law for no reason other than that he feels like it.
That particular toy will now be in the tiny hands of a man who has never displayed a shred of respect for democracy. That thought is terrifying.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 09/11/2016 09:19

Destinysdaughter
That's a fake article

Middleoftheroad · 09/11/2016 09:19

I am genuinely worried now. it is a joke!

However, I don't like this moral superiority that everybody who voted is thick. Once again, we have to look at those who didn't vote too.

Also, although Hilary was my preferred choice, I have to agree that females voted for Trump too.

I'm also srrugglung with the idea of contesting this. Although the man makes my skin crawl, it is what the public voted.

birdybirdywoofwoof · 09/11/2016 09:21

rawsienna, what makes you think he'll do a good job?

Seriously, I need cheering up.

sohackedoff · 09/11/2016 09:21

It doesn't shock me that disenfranchised people reject more of the same.

She is odious. He is odious but in a different way.

What does shock me is that in a country of 360 million people these two were chosen to run.

Here's another one

Trump has won 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Manumission · 09/11/2016 09:23

It's just awful. I hope he has some strong switched on people pulling his strings once he is in power. Putin will try and play him like a banjo.

I'm hoping that the more conciliatory tone of his victory speech is evidence of string-pullers.

Suppermummy02 · 09/11/2016 09:23

Shall we start a petition, a lot of people now regret voting for him, they didn't think it meant he would win, they were just protesting. They voted for change but they didn't vote for what that change was so we need another vote with more details about what a Trump presidency actually means.

birdybirdywoofwoof · 09/11/2016 09:25

No, it will always, always shock me that people have chosen a president who boasted on camera about violating women, was accused by ten women of abusing them, swaggered about minimising his tax payments and exploiting bankruptcy laws, threatened to put his opponent in jail, warned he might not respect the result of the election, and promised policies that to many look racist. (Robert Preston)

It's staggering - and potentially catastrophic.

I imagine the people who are saying 'all will be fine' are the same ones who say it about brexit ie. without any grasp of political realities at all.

VeryPunny · 09/11/2016 09:26

We also need to get away from this idea that Hispanics and other minorities are bastions of liberal thought. They're not - they're just as capable of misogyny and racism. Can't imagine that the Hispanic Catholics have any problem with pro-life arguments...

unlucky83 · 09/11/2016 09:27

It really was the lesser of two evils -

Hilary is hated in the middle east (increase the unrest there), threatening to enforce a nofly zone in Syria (war with Russia) - if anyone was likely to start WW3 it was her...and she has more contacts, more awareness of how things really work to get away with more.
I don't think Trump will last a term ...but it is a shake up to the established political parties -maybe things can improve if they stop blaming it on people being stupid and start thinking about why people feel so disenfranchised. Look at themselves. (A bit like Brexit here)
Also I would love a female president of the US -but don't think Hilary was the one. Your 'man' can be unfaithful -as misogynistic and sexist and dodgy as Trump - and you'll stand by him, effectively turn a blind eye as it suits your political ambitions - hardly a role model I want for my DDs.

Suppermummy02 · 09/11/2016 09:27

Are abortions now going to be illegal in America?

Hillbilly71 · 09/11/2016 09:29

Wouldn't fancy being his bodyguard.... (nor being anywhere near him anyway!)

viques · 09/11/2016 09:29

I would almost rather have woken to the news that the U.S. Had been overrun by a Zombie Apocalypse horde than to wake up to this. What have they done?

How could women, Asians, blacks and Latinos vote for him? surely there can't be that many ignorant racist mysogynist US men willing to lumber from their lazy boy chairs to vote for him. Sadly the answer is like Brexit, even outwardly rational and intelligent people chose not to think about the consequences of their actions logically but were swayed by someone who deliberately chose to press their buttons.

Oh well, at least they still have Jesus, and guns.

birdybirdywoofwoof · 09/11/2016 09:30

if anyone was likely to start WW3 it was her

Rubbish. What we're likely to see is Russia behaving like a loon throughout the baltic states AND the middle East and isolationist Trump doing nothing.

Same with N. Korea. Same with China. Same with Iran.

The man who couldn't be trusted with his own twitter account is commander in chief. And people think that's a good thing?

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 09/11/2016 09:31

QueenLizIII I've been thinking that for years.

Dizzybintess · 09/11/2016 09:31

I never normally get involved in politics on a public level however this man terrifies me in the same way as Hitler. He is sexist and racist and downright dangerous!

Trump has won 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
birdybirdywoofwoof · 09/11/2016 09:37

hardly a role model I want for my DDs

You would prefer a man who admits to assaulting women on camera and has been accused of sexual assault by at least 10 women?

Staggering, really.

areyoubeingserviced · 09/11/2016 09:39

Agree Very- I know several people from ethnic minorities who voted for Brexit because they didn't want Eastern Europeans taking their jobs.

LittleLionMansMummy · 09/11/2016 09:39

Viques I'll leave my reply to you here I think.

Trump has won 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

birdy look at her record www.huffingtonpost.com/jeffrey-sachs/hillary-is-the-candidate_b_9168938.html
and her take on Israel/Palestine

I still can't understand how she became the Democrats candidate - anyone would have been better and had more chance of beating Trump. (You could argue how the hell did Trump became the Republicans candidate.) For both of them money talks...
