For people who....

Chew with their mouths open
Bite spoons or forks
Don't turn off the keypress noises on their mobiles. "beep beep beep beep beep" when texting

Unreasonable? I call those basic manners.

What about you? Who would you send to the firey depths of hell?

lighthearted post

Ooh, I love cursive. I did learn how to write cursive at 7 rather than 5 when it's just too early IMO.

What's wrong with putting make-up on on the tram/ tube/ bus? It's my eye I poke with my mascara wand...
I'm going to start a Room 101 collection in my bullet journal:

  • people who can't be bothered to trim their hedges back properly so that the bloody things occupy half of the pavement. It's actually not possible to walk to school with a pushchair and your child next to you because of it.
  • any type of poor or dangerous driving: no indicating, going too slow, overtaking at traffic lights to turn right into oncoming traffic! Merc/ BMW/ 4x4 drivers seem to be in a class of their own.
  • poor manners on public transport: not moving down the carriage to make space for fellow commuters, getting on first instead of letting people get off first
  • body odour at work: a colleague of mine smells on purpose! he was told by management that it was unacceptable but he continued nonetheless, now as a matter of principle because he was told not to do it. I can't be in a closed room with him, it makes me gag.
  • other poor manners at work: putting your mug in the sink instead of the dishwasher - lazy buggers, especially if it contains a bloody tea bag or scrunched-up paper towel, all because they expect the cleaning laday to do it for them, it's so disrespectful.
  • my line manager: telling me off because I mutter to myself then muttering themselves;
saying I shouldn't carry my rucksack to meetings (I get paranoid about being caught in a fire alarm without my stuff) because it will damage my back: you are NOT my mother! saying no to everything, like 'no you can't carry over more than 5 days annual leave' (but she expects me not to take any holidays at Christmas so when the hell am I going to use them and spend time with my kids?); insisting on having the managers at the top of the mugshot pages and the little people at the bottom.
  • mediocre customer service: shop assistants chatting with each other whilst I'm making a purchase, giving me as little attention as they can get away with; mobile phone service messing me and saying they will give me an update when they get one, instead of providing a daily update - then when something does happen, they don't bloody let me know.
  • I second any issues with dogs: dogs running after and scaring children and owners insulting you if you have the audacity to say they should put them on a leash - 'you're not even from this country' Angry stupid racist cow on the beach in Norfolk. People not picking up their dog's poo, especially where there are children and pushchairs going (park, school road), or leaving the poo-filled bag to rot over the next 200 years.
  • poor manners on campsite: people being noisy after 10 and if you complain they say their kids manage to sleep through it and nobody else has complained and 'I'm fed up with these Polish people' - again more ignorance and racism.
  • people who spit, especially on the pavement or in a pedestrian street - vile disgusting habit. I wish they were made to pick it up and eat it!
Gosh, that was quite a rant.

Spit tops it all for me
And recently realised some parents drop their kids just yards from the school gates then drive as slowly as then can whilst watching their DC until they go through the school gates.... just park properly if you are that worried! So annoying

When it comes to thanking other drivers for giving way... I must admit, I don't always do it, not out of arrogance but because my mind is elsewhere/preoccupied about getting somewhere or running late and I do feel bad afterwards when I wake up to realise that someone had actually stopped to give me way. I do apologies to them and hope they get it! Blush

• Other road users not saying thank you when you've let them in or out of a junction

• Bad manners in general

• Bad grammar

• People talking during a film

chemenger · 06/11/2016 11:31

People who hold up queues of traffic to let others come out of junctions or turn right when the person waiting with nobody behind them (ie me) can see plainly that if they just kept going I would get out/turn quite soon. Look behind you and judge whether being "considerate" is actually going to hold up more people than you are helping. And don't flash your lights with growing hysteria at me, because its likely that I am looking beyond you to identify an actual gap in the traffic, or even looking in the other direction if I'm coming out of a junction. I know people are tying to be nice but in many situations the general flow of traffic is better kept moving; the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

People who persistently scrape their plate with their cutlery when eating. I know it's unavoidable sometimes, but certain people seem to make a career out of it. Sets my teeth right on edge. And people who get on buses and start slamming all the windows shut (made even more annoying as it always sounds as if they are in a temper). It doesn't matter how warm it it is,they always do it. Just try wearing more clothes if you get that cold on a 20 minute bus journey.

chemenger · 07/11/2016 08:33

People who use "myself" and "yourself" instead of "me" and "you", in the mistaken belief it sounds more formal and business like. As in "This was done by myself and John" rather than "John and I did this".
