The Duke of York wants his daughters to be full time Royals?

This is a Sunday Express link, not a Fail one.

So Andrew wants both of his daughters to have full time royal roles funded by the public & have larger apartments at Kensington Palace. Given that the only time I ever see them in the news is for dreadful outfits & holidays, to me they are embarrassing & a bit cringy.

Andrew is complaining that they are overshadowed by William, Catherine & Harry. But if you believe & support a system of privilege by birth such as the monarchy, then it stands to reason that the direct heirs are more important than the rest.

Does Andrew have a point & IABU?!

Andrew has always been an embarrassing and demanding twonk of the highest order.

Yanbu they shouldn't expect it. Pompous in all honesty.

I am heartily sick of them being upstaged by George and Charlotte just because of accidents of birth.

One of them (the dark haired one) seems ok, works at an art gallery and is hardly ever seen out and about.

The other is lazy, workshy and seems to spend her life jetting from one luxury holiday to another. Takes after her father.

Considering Andrew seems to have a huge sense of entitlement and no work ethic whatsoever it's no surprise that he's pushing for his daughters to live the very cushy life he's had.

They do have jobs though!
One in "business" and one in art.

The problem is that if they suddenly now, at 28 and 26, go 'full time in the Firm', it looks like they just can't do anything else, so the taxpayer gets stuck with them. If they'd been on the civil list since they were 18 it wouldn't be such a hoohah.

They aren't really 'jobs' though are they...

The one in "business" has quit her most recent paid employment to pursue her "entrepreneurial endeavours" .

We need to be cutting the list, not adding to it.

Of course Prince Andrew's children will be overshadowed by Prince Charles' children and grandchildren. Just like Prince Andrew and his siblings overshadowed Princess Margaret's children and grandchildren.

He's part of a hereditary monarchy where the eldest inherits. It's how the system works. He really shouldn't be surprised by it.

Andrew is an entitled git though. DH has met most of the senior Royals due to a former job and neither he or his colleagues had a nice word to say about Andrew. The others were all absolutely fine and easy to deal with.

The way I see it at the moment is that William is not actually a full-time royal. He's a part-time Air Ambulance pilot with royal commitments.

Catherine and Harry do have more royal commitments, but they also do a lot of good with their time too.

I've yet to see these girls do anything that I could think of as positive. Appreciate this may just be how they get reported in the press, but off the top of my head there isn't one thing that jumps out at me that makes me think they'd be good doing the "full-time Royal" role.

Let him ask mumsie to fund it.

i don;t think they have enough affection from the public to be full time royals. The constant holidays and laziness hasn't gone down well.

My Mum has a successful family business. She is a. Implore workhorse and refuses to retire but that is not what this post is about. My eldest brother has always been the appointed chosen one although not chosen enough for her to retire Now this preference is continuing into the next generation with his children being appointed the chosen ones and then their children. AIBU about this lack of fairness in the family.

Given the trials of living in the public gaze he should be happy for them to get on with their own lives surely?

I worked for the a branch of the government (UKTI) connected with the foreign office, we had to ring up Prince Andrew's office a lot as he was connected (patron or something?), all his private secretaries seemed to dislike him... Or knew what he was about so stuck with it.

Let's say he wasn't known to be popular or very nice, at all.
