Creepy Clowns

I am genuinely worried about these people dressing up as clowns and think something nasty might happen.

Is it just me?

There will be more around Halloween aswell.
As an adult you can behave as idiotic as you like but when it scares children and makes them fearful, it really makes my blood boil.

paddypants13 · 11/10/2016 11:32

Bishop, I agree. I would run the fucker over and not stop until I got home/ to a police station.

A bit of fun could potentially ruin two lives, the idiot who gets hurt and the person who ends up with a criminal record for injuring them out of fear.

I honestly don't how I'd react if one jumped out at me.

Magicpaintbrush · 11/10/2016 11:51

On GMB this morning they had a couple of blokes on who had dressed up as Clowns to frighten the public and they were being grilled by Piers Morgan - they both came across as a pair of absolute morons, proper unintelligent ass-wipes who just couldn't see past how 'funny' their pranks were.

People who deliberately target innocent members of the public to terrify and intimidate (even with fake weapons) need to be treated as criminals. It's only a matter of time before they jump out at somebody with a heart condition and cause a heart attack/death.

The thought of my little girl seeing one of these horror clowns fills me with absolute rage. How traumatising for children to see stuff like this.

It makes me despair that there are so many nasty little shits out there who think it's a great idea to do this.

I use to enjoy Halloween as a child but these days it's gone way too far. It has morphed into something genuinely sinister. I'm done with it.

OutDamnedWind · 11/10/2016 11:52

It's one of those classic mass hysteria things - largely starts out as a hoax, then some twats see it and think it'll be hilarious to copy, then it starts doing the rounds on FB, things get twisted and hyped up and everyone gets hysterical.

Then even twattier twats actually start doing things like carrying a kitchen knife or a chainsaw, or chasing people. More than likely with no actual intention to harm, but they're so egged on by it all that they get carried away, forget that chasing people and carrying weapons is an actual fucking crime, someone gets hurt (probably them) and the whole things goes tits up.

Not helped by media reports at all - it really is about attention and building that panic. Give it a few weeks and it'll all be retrospective articles on the psychology of those joining in.

Magicpaintbrush · 11/10/2016 11:54

My DD (7) came home yesterday and said it's all over the playground that nasty clowns are going around stabbing people. 7 year olds shouldn't have to worry about stuff like this!!!!!! Makes me so angry that the actions of a few horrible individuals are preying on the peace of mind of innocent little children.

JellyBelli · 11/10/2016 12:11

Pranks and mass hysteria are 2 things that really get my goat.

Soubriquet · 11/10/2016 12:12

It was like that happy slapper trend

People were doing it and thought it was hilarious. Until they hit the wrong person and got hit back

Soubriquet · 11/10/2016 12:38

like this one

He hits the girl, her boyfriend who just so happens to be a boxer, hits back

sportinguista · 11/10/2016 13:03

Its all very stupid but unfortunately there are people stupid enough to copy and take it too far. Have managed to keep DS away from noticing so far and hopefully nothing has been said at school.

I've not seen one or heard anything but admittedly I've not been on facebook for a while.

Someone will get badly hurt eventually.

Juanbablo · 11/10/2016 13:05

I'm just worried that these idiots are going to ruin Halloween for my kids. Luckily we live in a village and I don't think anyone would be horrible or stupid enough here becsuse everyone knows everyone but our local town has had some of these clowns reportedly being seen.

Goldenhandshake · 11/10/2016 13:06

I think any idiot partaking in these 'pranks' deserves every punch to the nose they are likely to get. I know if one jumped out on me or my kids, I wouldn't hesitate in giving them a thump, that is my natural defensive reaction when I have been accosted in the past.

I feel like evolution has started to reverse, as a species we are becoming less intelligent.

Ringadingdingdong22 · 11/10/2016 13:17

What worries me is that young people are going to think it's funny to dress up and wander around in the dark. Not meaning to actually harm anyone, just get a kick out of people's reactions. But they're going to end up coming across someone who kicks the shit out of them. It's the kind of stupid thing my DB would have done as a teenager just for 'shits and giggles'. There is a video of some guy in the US attacking someone dressed as a clown with a baseball bat - in reality the person dressed up is probably some 17 year old lad not able to defend himself.

My DC were scared when hearing abut this. I told them to stop worrying, it's just a few of the local teenagers who think it's funny to dress up and scare people, so stop listening to all the scare stories at school as most of them are talking absolute rubbish. They won't be participating in any sort of mass hysteria if I get my way.

Soubriquet · 11/10/2016 13:40

looks like it might be true SexLube

What an idiot

pregnantat50 · 11/10/2016 13:48

I'm wondering how well the clown mask might protect against pepper spray

My friend said she had someone in a clown mask peering over her back gate this morning so she dropped her towel and they ran away. I've been laughing about it all day because she reckons they were more frightened than her!

Ilovenannyplum · 11/10/2016 14:47

Normal clowns scare me as it is, I'm so worried ones going to jump out on me when I'm walking home from work/nursery with my 2 year old.

I hope the morons that do it and think it's funny get arrested.

mypropertea · 11/10/2016 14:49

In my mind, the clown craze isn't that different to people exposing themselves. It is done to shock and scare the victim for the clown to get there kicks.

HelenaDove · 11/10/2016 14:52

If someone waves a knife at someone how they are dressed doest change the fact that its threatening behaviour.

There was a 10 year old boy on the news with a hell of a bruise on his arm from where a clown twunt threw a rock at him.

Warl · 11/10/2016 14:58

As the case often goes it's started out as a bit of fun & all gotten out of hand. DH was only
Saying today that it will all end badly, one will get run over, beaten or worse & likely be a young lad thinking it's funny.
