Creepy Clowns

MyPeriodFeatures · 10/10/2016 22:27

I am genuinely worried about these people dressing up as clowns and think something nasty might happen.

Is it just me?

Sky news are reporting about a clown weilding a chainsaw - yes a fucking chainsaw - round brunel university the other night! Creepy weirdos, it wont be long before someone is seriously hurt. V

RoseGoldHippie · 10/10/2016 23:00

It freaks me out OP - I keep telling myself they are fake stories though! Interesting that you made the definition of 'ummm its people carrying knives' as I have been thinking the way these have been reported you would think a clown was some type of non-human race! Aliens maybe? Haha

ILoveMyMonkey · 10/10/2016 23:01

Sorry buzzfeed www.buzzfeed.com/ikrd/a-clown-with-a-chainsaw-terrorised-a-london-university?utm_term=.eyVaqd3RX#.dqKXj05L2 not sky news, although it's been reported elsewhere too.

bumsexatthebingo · 10/10/2016 23:02

Why thank you DramaInPyjamas Blush

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 10/10/2016 23:02

There was a MNetter last night who saw three (I think) outside her window.

I wouldn't be amused, I hate clowns. And they may know they're having a laugh, but I don't. Esp if they're holding a hammer.

RestlessTraveller · 10/10/2016 23:04

I'm more worried about my potential reaction should one jump out at me. A few years ago DP jumped out from behind a door to surprise me and ended up with a fat lip. Just to clarify I'm really not a violent person it was just the shock!

bumsexatthebingo · 10/10/2016 23:04

Sometimes teens carry knives and act like dicks with them though. It's not any more dangerous because they are dressed as clowns. Easier to spot and avoid if anything!
My friends oh dressed as a creepy clown when e took the kids trick or treating last Halloween. Think he might wear something else this year!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 10/10/2016 23:05

Here (Canada) it is still just a bunch of idiot teens terrorising little primary school kids on the way to school or at break time.

I can see it escalating though, but people do need to stay calm, not get hysterical and feed the panic monster.

Redglitter · 10/10/2016 23:05

Bear in mind too there are a lot of exaggerated and made up reports too. Which isn't helping the situation

CrazyGreyhoundLady · 10/10/2016 23:05

I'm 36 weeks pregnant, suffering with a host of issues including PGP and on crutches. Me and partner have discussed these idiots at length as I seem to be exactly the sort of person these cowards are targeting, one jumps out at me it will end up with a crutch between the legs or round the head.
This is going to end badly, someone will get hurt or a child will be seriously traumatised. I get kids think pranking people is fun but when there are weapons involved it's gone too far. It's ridiculous! Thankfully at least the police are taking it seriously

RoseGoldHippie · 10/10/2016 23:06

Under - that would honest to God shit me up for life. Why are people doing this? It seems really weird! The worst one I've seen is the runners in the woods: www.aol.com/article/news/2016/10/07/runners-capture-video-of-a-clown-with-a-knife-chasing-them-throu/21576813/

hollinhurst84 · 10/10/2016 23:06

It was me. I had 3 teens wearing clown masks outside my window

MyPeriodFeatures · 10/10/2016 23:07

I think I'm just worried that offenders can hide amongst the stupid clowns and get away with something nasty.

rosegold. Yes, exactly! I hope it just blows over and we can all go back to being scared of normal things, like ghosts and treading in dog shit.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 10/10/2016 23:08

I mean, the more we worry and are vocal and pearl-clutching about it all, the more these anti-social and anti-establishment young people will do it to wind everyone up, and then it will escalate and get out of hand, and then it will be a real problem.

DramaInPyjamas · 10/10/2016 23:08

How many of these photos and videos are genuine though? It could just be friends doing it amongst themselves for lolz, retweets and attention.

TrippyMcTrapFace · 10/10/2016 23:10

I'm concerned that it may end badly. A child running into a busy road to escape from a clown or someone being scared, retaliating and doing serious damage to the fucking idiot dressed as a clown.

I'm meeting friends at the pub tomorrow night. It's a 15 minute walk and normally very safe although quiet as I live in a village. I'm now feeling quite anxious about the walk and may end up having to ask one of my friends for a lift, because if I see a clown I'll shit myself and very possibly lash out.

sn1ce · 10/10/2016 23:11

B and M have loads of creepy clown masks in their Halloween section atm-brace yourselves for the next few weeks!

SemiNormal · 10/10/2016 23:11

There is a genuine one been in my town, I know lots of people who have seen him/them. The problem is that now a group of people have said they're going clown bashing and are hell bent on catching up with the clown/s Hmm

MyPeriodFeatures · 10/10/2016 23:11

I feel sorry for clowns too. Can't be good for the clowning business..

OP posts:
HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 10/10/2016 23:11

hollin if I remember your thread correctly, you basically reacted with a raised eyebrow and a "just go away, there's a sweet boy" attitude which was the BEST thing you could have done!

It's kind of like not feeding the trolls. Don't feed the clowns!

Grin
RoseGoldHippie · 10/10/2016 23:12

Hollin- I'm really sorry you had that I don't understand the mentality and maybe I just don't get the joke? Ahh it gives me the willies just thinking about it! Did you call the police?

Period - haha yes I am scared Daily of dog shit treadings!! Especially in my new bootiful winter shoes Grin

Drama - I think you are right TBH but why did this just suddenly start happening???

Salmotrutta · 10/10/2016 23:15

"Here (Canada) it is still just a bunch of idiot teens terrorising little primary school kids.

Well, I'm hoping the Canadian Police Force are coming down very hard on them?

I know you aren't "in charge" of things in Canada Hearts but just a "bunch of teenagers" can do a lot of harm if they are terrorising little kids.

MyPeriodFeatures · 10/10/2016 23:15

dont feed the clowns. Good advice. Perhaps we shouldn't give them power by talking.

I'm home on my own though so I'm scared

flamingnoravera · 10/10/2016 23:16

I have a FC who had worked herself up into a state of fear tonight after hearing about these "clowns". Nothing I can say will reassure her and she is refusing to sleep because she's "too scared". She heard about the story at school and has been escalating towards a meltdown aver since. (She has FASD). This will get worse tomorrow and until Halloween now I suspect. Grrr

worldsworstchildren · 10/10/2016 23:21

Yes I've had tears from DC tonight too. Older boys talking about killer clowns on the school bus.

I could complain to school tomorrow but unfortunately idea is already in their heads now.
